  1. The cab would certainly be less expensive and bitey than the puppy, but would give much less emotional return. I think the puppy wins out easily
  2. These are great little gadgets. GLWTS!
  3. Must. Ignore. Don't. Need...
  4. I was going to say the same. I currently have an ABM-500 paired with a Barefaced Two10 and it sounds looooooooooooooovely. Hoping to upgrade to the ABM-600-EVO-IV in a few months when funds allow as the 500 is only on loan.
  5. Originally purchased by me from @nikon F of this parish (with more than a little assistance from @Merton and his sister), an Ashdown MAG 410T Deep cab for sale. The cab works very well, but I had the chance to acquire a Barefaced Two10s so this is now surplus to requirements. I've only gigged it once and it's lovely, but alas it's a bit too heavy for this 300lb weakling. Currently missing a corner protector which disappeared during a band rehearsal before Christmas but I'll replace this and provide spares. Some specs: Dimensions: 25.8" (h) x 23.8" (w) x 16.5" (d) Frequency Response: 60Hz - 20kHz Impedance: 8Ω Power Handling: 350W continuous Speakers: 4x10" + tweeter SPL: 101dB 1W @ 1m Weight: 60.6 lbs
  6. Low End Lobster wrapped carpet tape around his. As long as you use something that means the machine head isn't going to wobble about then you could use pretty much anything, I believe.
  7. It was a sad day when Shaun Keaveny left the breakfast show.
  8. Yeah, I think we're narrowing our stuff down to a core set of tunes and then others we can mix and match depending on the gig, how the singer's voice is doing, etc. It's trying to mix things up which is the challenge. We play two Blur songs and play both as part of our set. I suggested we might do one or the other, as my feeling is that if a cover band plays two tunes from the same artist it smacks of a lack of imagination, but that suggestion was swiftly shot down.
  9. This sounds familiar. I joined a cover band about 8 months ago and the band are desperate for new material (it's a running joke amongst the regular crowd that our set list hasn't changed for quite some time). In that time I've probably suggested 100+ new songs we could do, and so far only three are being considered.
  10. Yep, our band won't do any Oasis because the singer "hate[s] them Manc tw@ts" (most of the band is from Yorkshire, I'm the only one from the "wrong" side of the Pennines). We've got two Blur tunes in our repertoire though. Having Blur tunes, no matter how fun the bass lines are to play, and no Oasis offends me because a) I'm northern and b) I have an irrational dislike of Alex "playing bass is easy" James (although he does make some bloody nice cheese).
  11. I Shot The Sherrif - Bob Marley
  12. How do you find the Sadowsky (and I'm glad I'm not the only one whose brain immediately went to Tesco)? I keep veering between wanting one and thinking I should save up for a second-hand Japanese one (or go for the one brand new one still on sale - not saying where though!), or go a different route entirely.
  13. GLWTS, I've just acquired one of these and it's awesome.
  14. Right Here Right Now - Jesus Jones
  15. How Soon Is Now - The Smiths
  16. I Touch Myself - Divinyls
  17. Unfortunately a spendy Christmas means I'm not immediately interested, so have at it.
  18. Welcome, Jon!
  19. If it's not too far away I can recommend two Cornwall-based folks: Julyan Wallis (The Guitar Doctor) in Penzance (now featured on BBC's The Repair Shop), and Chris at Tube 'N Truss in St Dennis who is also a wizard at servicing and repairing vintage tube amps.
  20. Sadowsky have used Pau Ferro fingerboards for years, and while I might prefer a different wood the use of PF certainly wouldn't put me off buying a Sadowsky!
  21. Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen
  22. How many instances of "killer", "wicked" and "super, super awesome" were there though? 😆
  23. Good to hear, will definitely check it out then!
  24. Great night last night on our band's home turf. Sold out night and people dancing right up to the stage. Fewer ropey moments than usual (mental note: after practising for weeks solely on a J-style bass, a warm-up is advisable before launching straight into using a P-bass for a gig...) and we went down a storm. Home by 11 for pizza pockets and ranch dip with Mrs Greg! Had to use my Barefaced Two10S vertically for space reasons and I think it sounded slightly better to my ears, as well as being jeans-flappingly loud!
