  1. Or the people who advertise for other people when they're putting themselves out there. So many bass players seeking other bass players!
  2. That does appear to be a major design flaw
  3. You can, but for physical items I think you need a US address - I've bought from them before and had it delivered to my MIL's house when my wife was visiting last year. For digital items I don't think the address thing matters.
  4. I believe it's the pickups that are hot, with the preamp lacking headroom to deal with them.
  5. Travis have done a fun version of this with Mark and Lard so it definitely can work in this format.
  6. Took the Siredowsky out for its first run out this afternoon and it performed admirably, I even had to turn down my Elf to accommodate it because I was, in the words of our singist, loud as fück. Despite that I struggled to hear myself at a few points, which I attribute to still having lasting after effects of this cold on top of being stood right in front of a PA speaker. Our keyboardist is going to have to buy himself a new keyboard and a case for it because his pitch shifter has gone rogue and keep sending him out of tune, which can be attributed to it living in his car with no protection, so it's a bit bashed about. Two Tribes is coming along as we have the core elements sorted, with just some timing and arrangement tweaks required. We've binned Boys Don't Cry, and a very rough run through of Mr Brightside showed some promise. Now home to die in a corner. Pushed myself and regretting it, so thank goodness I'm signed off for another couple of days.
  7. She's really good about spelling out exactly what she has to go through to do what she does, and while sometimes it looks really glamorous and she gets loads of nice guitars, she's clearly very canny.
  8. These two just chatting and jamming. Nuff said.
  9. Current progress with Two Tribes as well as a demo of the Sadowsky preamp now installed in the Sire. For those interested this is both pickups, tone 100%, bass boosted to about 25% and treble to 50%. I'm also in drop D tuning.
  10. Definitely not. This is whereabouts in the UK their location claims to be.
  11. It is done, the Siredowsky (as it shall henceforth be known) lives! I haven't managed to give it a proper test yet, just a quick play through my little Vox amPlug to confirm everything was working, so I look forward to that tomorrow!

  12. I got one of these for a Christmas present and am very happy with it. GLWTS!
  13. After the suggestion to do Mr Brightside was shot down by our guitarist claiming it was too difficult, I may have offered to give it a go and that we might swap instruments for a song. [insert name of chosen deity here] help me.
  14. I assume you mean this site? https://www.thebassguitarshop.com/index.html Looks dodgy to me, like they've recycled content from Bass Direct. There are no contact details, company registration, etc. anywhere on the site which is a huge red flag, and the domain was only registered six months ago. I'd avoid like the plague.
  15. In the process of being modded with a Sadowsky VTC onboard preamp to replace the broken stock Sire one. Hopefully get it all finished this weekend.
  16. I think this fits as it's a Bongo so definitely weird and ugly (IMHO), but I'm going to suggest that at this price something might be amiss... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2516561958523355/
  17. I believe one if the reasons Paul McCartney chose the Höfner violin bass is because the fretboard width is more or less the same along the whole length of the neck.
  18. Some Skindred-related bonding required then
  19. Back at Spen Victoria Cricket & Bowls Club for our delayed gig from February. The car managed to get me there and back again with no trouble other than the boot switch not working meaning I had to get everything in and out of it via the back seat. Our setup started after the Leeds match, so the mood in the clubhouse was a bit despondent and probably a fair few had gone home, but fortunately the place filled up and was pretty rammed by the time we were underway. We weren't perfect and all of us made a few mistakes, but we were all pretty much on it besides that, and the show had some good flow, apart from when our singist decided to pay tribute to half the Western world before our last song, but our two new songs went down well and the show was a success. I got compliments on my tone afterwards, and a guy I recognised as a fellow bassist have me a thumbs up and a big grin before he left midway through our second set. Same setup this time as last, with the Squier P in use as the Siredowsky (as it shall be henceforth known) is still guts out on my kitchen table waiting for my mate with the soldering iron to get over a bout of food poisoning and return to finish connecting it all up. No gig in the diary now until August, but our singist handed out one of our business cards so we might get another one lined up, which would be nice.
  20. Without any of that provenance evidence then probably not, but if it makes it worth more to you then who cares what everyone else thinks.
  21. Can definitely agree with all of this, including the awful compressor and especially the aftercare.
