Why?

It always makes me laugh, especially on some of the more fruity US forums when people talk with reverence about the "Matamp Factory" like it's a scared, holy place, bathed in clean white light where tonez are made. I wonder if they could see that it's a run-down shed, up a little lane, behind a Tesco, that's completely disorganised with fag ends everywhere, that reeks of smoke with projects that started between yesterday and 40 years ago littered around if they would have the same reverence? I'm not knocking Matamp's product at all but they are very much a case of the British Inventor's Shed, not Googleplex.

What are your expectations of the Matamp factory?

1) It's a fraction of the cost of the street price of the cabinet. 2) Inflation is a 4%. Everything is getting more expensive.

That one might be great, but I think you might be able to get an older one for that kind of money.

I personally think £1500 is a bit high, especially given the condition. Having said that - if you put it on ebay and 2 people want it, then it could sail past that. OTOH, you might only reach £800ish.

Agree 100% on the control layout - it can be really fiddly. I'd just rather have bass / mid / treb cut/boost really. I don't get the "proper mute" - you pull out the master knob to mute?

Push the budget another 100 and get a Markbass F500 IMO
