1.
I'm going to turn this whole thing on it's head and say; As a bassist, they probably wouldn't even notice if you weren't at the gig...
90% of the audience thinks it's a funny big guitar anyway.
2. Guuuuh.... waaaant.
3. I've got the Harvest Leather Bag, and the Harvest Canvas bag. I love them both... but the Leather is so good.
4. I have the ER25s, play in a noisy rock band and I think they're the appropriate level for my ears.
5. You're nuts if you sell this bass.
6. Love mine...!
7. You want a Harvest Leather gig bag, you just dont know It yet. You can thank me later
8.
Really good gig last night in Leeds, upstairs in The Library. Absolutely packed and enough money to justify the travel from Birmingham.
Did you support Kassius?
9. Thanks but no thanks.
10.
Initially I was going to go with Jon Shuker but I would need to wait 3 months for the bass to finish =/
3 months is a very[ short time to wait for a custom instrument. I'm also laughing behind my hand that John Shuker has quoted you 3 months to completion - a good friend of mine has been waiting nearly 2 years. There are many custom builders in the UK. There are lots of threads about them, try a search. Personally of the two options you give I'd let Martin do the whole thing.
11.
I don't know about you, but I never bought a cab on the strength of its stackability. In fact, the more uniform my gear the more of a douche I tend to feel.
I couldn't go on stage with two cabs that have different widths. So, we're all different. ... having said that I also couldn't go on stage with Markbass cabs.
12. I love the two J5s.
13. Crap! Missed it.
14. I really like this bass ...
15. Keith - always interested. Send me a Private Message with details - or you've got my phone number
16.
Coincidentally, that was the night I met my ex-wife.
Not such a lucky escape there Rich!
17. The worst feeling I had was: Worst:Turn up at the gig, plug in my DB750 flick the switch and it kills the power to the whole club. Everything in darkness, no music, no bar... just an uncomfortable silence. Best: Noone knew it was me that blew the electricity, and I just kept quiet. Dodged that bullet.
18. Steve - could you meet me in Manchester centre on Saturday atfternoon?
19.
Yeah, it is. That's exactly what it is. The whole thing costs $5,500, and the bass without the pickguard costs $5,000. Do the math. You want to make a sandwich, the ingredients cost £4.00. You decide you want to add some cheese to your sandwich, so the ingredients now cost £5.00. That's exactly the same thing as the cheese costing £1.00.
If you want to view it in terms of sandwiches you'll never see what I'm saying so there's no point going further - which is a shame I normally really enjoy talking to you Max .
20.
Their website lists the pickguard as a $500 option. If you don't order the pickguard, they don't make you one and your order comes to $500 less. In real terms, that adds up to spending $500 on a pickguard. Even if I was dropping five grand on a bass, I'd be dubious about spending an extra ten per cent of the bill on a bit of plastic.
If you have $5K to spend on a bass, and you want one with a pickguard the whole bass now costs $5500. That's not the same as the pickguard costing $500.
21.
Again, I'm not saying that Fodera shouldn't charge $500 for a bit of cut plastic. What I'm saying is that people who'd pay $500 for a bit of cut plastic are nuts, regadless of what the guy who made it charges per hour.
Max - your point does't exactly hold. Noone is spending $500 on just a pickguard... they're also spending $5K on the bass that comes attached to the pickguard. I don't think I need to add more exposition to that.
22.
You can live your life without correcting everything on the internet.
Mark's a lawyer - this is practice for him !
23. FWIW I'd rather cut my own ears off than use Line6 gear.
