Adding the smoothing cap to the clipping diodes is a nice mod. Also works well in the DOD250.
8. Yes. Flanker owns it now. He has another AC for sale if you search, and for a very good price too. Joe
9. Yup - new amp needed Sk8
10. Response: Hi Joe We don?t like doing it but we have to compete with the American and German manufactures who do not quote RMS as standard but Max/Peak power which is around 4x the true RMS value. Because its new technology using ALFET lateral mosfets don?t be deceived by the ratings this amp it will give any Chinese 1600watt amp a run for it's money. This amp is 250Watts RMS at 4Ohms a side and 160Watts RMS at 8Ohms a side. Its bigger brother the 3200 gave the CrownXTI4000 a run for its money it was as loud and was a better quality sound. Regards Peter. Joe.
11. Good call Mr.Savage. I have messaged them on ebay to ask.
12. Those proaudio amps certainly seem to have the right spec!
13.
Toasted mate, slap a new set of strings on your bass, dial in some righteous whump and stop confusing yourself, the 410 s brilliant, but the IP stack is 'it'!
You're right. It's fantastic! I HAVE to simplify my rack tho
Chris you got the same rig as mine and it kicks asss...lovely warmth and punch.....is Bergantino THAT good?
All I can tell you is, I'm never happier with my sound than when it's coming out of Bergantino speaker cabs. It's just my sound.
14. Nor mine for the 410.
15. I just got totally hacked off and petulant with my IP112. No idea why really.
16. Lee - don't be hacked. We know you're a good guy and a few of us have bought great gear from you. If anything you're helping here by passing over contact information - and everyone knows that. Don't worry about it. It's all good
17. I'm glad you decided to go to China. It's an amazing country that I have a lot of love for. Just watch what you say on the street, you don't want to get your collar felt by the thought Police
18. Chris - would you change the pickup if the preamp change doesn't give you what you want? What about adding a bad-ass to get a bit more sustain? I've always liked mirror pickguards too. Have you met my friend on ebay.de ? I don't think I need to make my point more crudely than above J.
19.
Performance aside, looking at the picture it would appear to have screw-on strap type handles. At that weight I would prefer something a bit more substantial and recessed as they will get knocked-off or ripped off very quickly.
If you take a look at Alex's FAQ page, in his usual way (4 lines, no full stops) he writes: Because by not cutting a hole in the enclosure to mount the handle the enclosure strength and stiffness is greater, because a plastic bar handle would be weaker than our steel cored strap handles, because a steel bar handle would be strong enough but would add excessive weight and because most of our cabs are light enough to carry in one hand and a strap handle is comfier for that and if they're not a one-hand-carry then they have wheels anyway! From my own industry I must disagree that cutting a hole in the side of the enclosure reduces the strength - unless of course you cut accross a corner. I definitely agree that the plastic bar handles are not as strong as the steel strap handles. That said there's nothing so comfortable as a steel bar handle of the type that Ampeg/Bergantino/Epifani/Genz Benz/Aguilar/Mesa/Ashdown/Orange/SWR/Accugroove/Hartke/EBS/GK/Low Down Sound/Trace Elliot/Purple Chilli/Marshall/TC E/Phil Jones use. I can see the arguent that the steel bar handle isn't used for weight - but the cabs are so damn light in the first place you wouldn't think another KG would matter for the increased portability.
20. There's no rules. Plug them up in different combinations until you find the one that pleases your ear most. For me that would be: Guitar -> Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Boss ODB3, Amdek Chorus, trusty Boss TU12H -> Amp And I'd buy a pedal tuner with a mute function. Korg Pitchblack / Boss Tu-2/3. EDIT: If you're using the XBSW for anything other than the octave function, I'm going to come around to your house and beat you to death with it ;-)
21. Suprised that the head hasn't crushed the cab!
22.
Thanks eveyone. Where can I find a decent quality leather strap if I go down that route? Any recommendations?
Harvest Leather. Don't look anywhere else. I have their straps and gigbag and they're brilliant.
23. That's a reasonable price. You should see what original Rangemasters in that condition fetch.
