  1. I saw that too but no stock anywhere that I could find.
  2. Yes, that's what I thought of doing but I'd like to keep a 20 foot cable as an option too. Fussy blighter I am.
  3. Normally I'd agree with you completely. In this instance however this is a 30 year old bass in totally original condition and this lead has never been used with it previously so it's not the cause. It works perfectly with the bass but is 20 feet long which is longer than I need for most gigs.
  4. Does anyone still produce instrument cables with this type of connector? I need the extra springy contact at the base to maintain a good connection on one of my basses. (I'm looking for a 10 foot cable; ideally right angled to straight connectors). Many thanks for any guidance.
  5. For the less informed it might be a good idea to add a link or some information about this item to your original post.
  6. Yes, using another CMD121P is definitely more of the same, but the NY121P cab adds a bit more low end. I sold my CMD121P and now use two NY121P cabs with my MB heads.
  7. Yes, as you live in Canada, getting Andy to help should be straightforward enough. Unfortunately it's not so simple from the other side of the Atlantic. Ashdown very often help free of charge which really is remarkable nowadays.
  8. Agreed that Ashdown customer service goes well above and beyond what they are required to offer. Ashdown is a small team with an exceptional attitude. However, for every Markbass user with a problem there are probably a hundred or more that don't.
  9. Unfortunately it's about as expensive to fault find down to component level and replace that component as it is just to swap out the whole circuit board the faulty component is on. So you're going to pay approx. £200 either way. The real problem comes when the authorised repairer cannot obtain the circuit board assemblies from Markbass because of the current worldwide shortage of some electronic components. The faulty component may be readily available but for the want of an IC perhaps, the circuit board assembly can't be produced. Pre covid that repair strategy seemed reasonable but now a component level repair would be a decent option.
  10. Just add sold to the thread title; that'll close it to further comments.
  11. I think those are replacement knobs, they aren't the usual shape used by TE. I'm sure it would've looked like this originally.
  12. Please don't go to any extra trouble on my behalf but knowing what speakers are inside could make a big difference to how attractive the cabs are to buyers. The cabs are likely worth between £50 to £100 each, maybe more depending on the drivers. You may also find buyers for individual cabs meaning the Trace Elliot head can be even more of a bargain. Pictures of the side and back of the cabs would be useful too. Do the cabs have carry handles on them for example?
  13. Do you know/remember what manufacturer and model of speakers are in the cabs please?
  14. This thread prompted me to look at the Unity range. It seems a little strange to me that Blackstar list a 250 watt 1x15 powered extension cab to go with the Unity 250 watt 1x15 combo but don't offer a 500 watt 2x10 powered extension cab to go with the Unity 500 watt 2x10 combo. Also, I'm not totally convinced that the 2x10 speakers can handle the full 500 watts either. I'd prefer the combo to have an amplifier that output 250 watts to its internal speakers which then allowed a 2x10 passive extension cab. 500 watts into a 4x10 configuration feels about right to me.
  15. The NY121P is the perfect match for the CMD121P.
  16. This really was my dream bass when I was using a crappy Shergold Marathon (sorry to those that like them) and knew that a MM Stingray or Aria SB1000 were out of my price range. I'd love to own this but just have way too many basses already. Good luck with your sale; I imagine another nostalgic Basschatter will be along soon.
  17. No, they are not as fat as the current pickups which makes them look wider. The Ignition use the 65/66 format reintroduced on some 80s German models (below). If you visit the Hofner site you'll see the large number of different pup designs used over the years.
