Doesn't it say "the general ticket sale begins at 10am on Thursday 10 November" ? -

Found some stuff I picked up in my youth. Can't see a date on the brochure anywhere unfortunately. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/445206-vintage-trace-elliot-brochures/?do=findComment&comment=4713528

Mania Fretless 4 Through Neck - TRADED!
Sparky Mark replied to tomthebass's topic in Basses For Sale

I feel the same. Heavyweight, bulky neck with too many tonal options for me; although I do still regret selling my Custom for £500 in the middle 90's.

Great video. Interesting that there's no Wal?

IMO the cabs are the issue. I've seen a few PJB users add more and larger PJB cabs chasing an output level that they're not really designed to achieve. PJB seem best at almost hifi quality bass at moderate to low volumes.
-
Nope, sorry. All LM2 were class AB. LM3 were introduced as Class AB in 2009 then went to class D around 2012.
-
Totally agree, but don't let your LM2 hear you calling it class D!
-
I guess one benefit of the amp plus cab route is that if either component fails you can use backups whilst it's out for repair, if you have them of course. I went through the CMD121H plus traveller 121H cab to my LM3 with two traveller 121H which was better, to a CMD121P with traveller 121H but ended up with my LM3 and two NY121P cabs. The LM3 and two NY121P cabs is not massively bigger than the CMD121H combo but is significantly more capable.

Understood. I've been through loads of compressors too and the Markbass Compressore is an always on pedal for me now. With everything at noon the 12ax7 adds lovely valve harmonic content to my SS preamp Markbass heads without softening their tone or even sounding like it's compressing. I've ogled the 1000 watt Markbass heads over the years but know I'd never get close to needing their immense power on the small to medium sized gigs I get. I dread to think how loud they can go before they limit based on my 800 watt (635 watt RMS at 4 ohms) Markbass Momark amp!
-
The 1000 watt Markbass heads are incredibly powerful and the limiter won't kick in before you approach its maximum output even with the limiter control at Max. Sounds like a compressor would give the squish you desire and the Markbass Compressore is a brilliant one.
-
Yes, I think that's a response to any criticism that the limiter cuts in rather abruptly. The control probably allows users to adjust the limiter from "off" to the non-adjustable amp's "full on" setting.
-
I'm not convinced this is a "new" limiter at all. Markbass has been stating its amps have a new bi-band limiter ever since it was introduced when the LM3 replaced the LM2 in 2009.

I dare you to start a thread called:- "If you cant get a suitable tone out of a Trace Elliot, you need to see a specialist."
-
As has been referenced above, resistance is next to useless as an indicator of how a pickup will sound. Most pickup manufacturers will offer a description of what the particular pickup's tonal goal is but many other variables will affect the final installed outcome. You'd be better off describing what kind of tone you are looking for.
-
If you can expand on the reason for your question you might get more specific advice.
-
Also, I wouldn't want to be the guy that plugged my amp into the combo and damaged the speaker! It may have been ready to fail anyhow but you'll be blamed.
-
For any given pickup design the more winds increases resistance because the wire is longer. However, other factors will affect the sound such as the tightness of the wind and if it's scatter wound or very neatly machine wound. If you search for how the number and type of winds affects pickup tone that should be helpful rather than just resistance. I think I remember that fewer winds give brighter tone at lower output, more winds gives higher bassier output but less dynamics.
