  1. Please add location to the title as it's a critical piece of information. Thanks
  2. I have had contact with a couple of timewasters on here but you can usually suss them out pretty quickly through their first couple of messages. Thankfully they are few and far between and not scammers as far as I could tell. Thinking a bit more about it, I've wasted a few people's time by having second thoughts and withdrawing a couple of items in the past; apologies. I'll get my coat!
  3. I'll never use PayPal for any "private" transaction. I'm sure 90% of the time it'd be fine but I've read of so many dodgy disputes that I pay and ask for cash or bank transfer to minimise the risk. I've never sold anything other than through Basschat because we kinda know who we're dealing with on here.
  4. Bargain bump! The cover alone probably cost the asking price. (Strange that the backplate says it's 100 watts though?)
  5. Are you lucky enough to live in a UK town that has a great live music scene? Large towns and cities excluded, where else is there that encourages local musicians to get involved? For example, Hertford is pretty good with several live music venues for local musicians and bands of all abilities to perform as well as a couple of decent music festivals.
  6. There appears to be a 1212l still for sale on here after a few years. I've bumped the for sale thread to see if it's still available.
  7. 2 x 210 or 2 x 112 cabs make the load in and out much easier than heavy single cabs and you're then not limited to expensive super lightweight cabs.
  8. Same here, curiouser and curiouser.
  9. Oops, somehow I missed all the other comments to tge same affect. Hers doesn't appear to have neck binding, 24 frets or the sharper point to the body behind the bridge of the GA24.
  10. This is the one Markbass head I still have GAS for type bump. Somebody please buy this so I don't have to!
  11. A word of warning about using the rear of headstock strap button; if you allow the bass body to slip down you could very soon be smashed in the face by those lovely machineheads and spitting blood and teeth. Not a good look.
  12. Unfortunately I now can't come on Sunday, have a brilliant bash all.
  13. That's a very sensible philosophy that I wish I could follow too. The only two basses that I have a real attachment to are my Stingray (bought with my first student grant cheque in 1982) and my 1991 Warwick Thumb NT. My Jaydee will probably fall into that category as the only bass I've ever had built for me. The others form part of my retirement pension pot if I'm lucky enough to get there.
  14. That's perfect and I'm glad you're happy with the deal. Of course money isn't everything but you probably could've asked for a fair bit more for such a uniquely beautiful bass. I'm just disappointed I missed the opportunity to buy it myself!
  15. It looks like that 5er may only have been used for that one song? Perhaps it was a requirement of his Status sponsorship deal that he was to use it at least once every gig?
  16. Yes, I've inadvertently become a collector over the past 40 years whilst also playing in bands during that time. I'm fortunate I guess to have had the funds and space to indulge myself until such time as my health or finances necessitate a change of priorities. Playing bass has been a lifelong love of mine but I'm grateful it's never needed to be my living. I fully undestand how a bass that suits us in our twenties may not do so several years, or even decades later. I've moved on basses including a Wal and an even heavier Ovation Magnum for that reason too. It's just a shame when someone is enthusiastic enough to commission what is obviously going to be a pristine instrument at the beginning but then feel unable to enjoy it due to the fear of adding signs of use.
  17. That's a common occurrence in marketplaces where people pay a premium over the new price to avoid a long lead-time. Luxury watches are an example. I would've gladly paid a couple of hundred pounds more than the list price to have owned my JD 18 months sooner.
  18. Upon reflection I get that a bit, but all the basses I've bought from new were pristine in the beginning. To commission such a beautiful bass, wait 2 years for it, then realise you can't play it even at home is such a pity. In this instance I'd keep it and cherish it; just like the twenty plus other beautiful basses in my collection.
  19. Wow! What a beautiful bass. I hope mine is as good as that. There's absolutely no way I could part with such an amazing example.
  20. I'm 4 pints down at the pub right now so didn't read all of the above, just the first and last paragraphs, so treat this reply with the contempt it deserves. I think it's important for us to know which frequencies we like accentuated and attenuated in our personal "sound". If the amplifier allows this, and we can work out which knob does what then that's perfect. In my personal experience it has taken a long time to figure it out, but now I have I can get my sound from just about any decent amp system. The analysis and science bit is irrelevant for me, hic!
  21. You must've been minted! Very kind of you.
