You need to be sitting on a square of cheapo matting in that case! And that Berg tolex is really slippy.

This was my experience with my class D and class AB LM3 amps. I convinced myself that the AB was slightly fuller sounding but that could've been down to other preamp design enhancements. Maybe the HPF was changed slightly? I could still EQ the amps to sound the same at home but didn't attempt to compare on a gig. As for reliability, I believe that electronics that run cooler have a better chance of living longer. My AB was always pretty warm at the end of the night, the D was much cooler. I'm sure that both had appropriate thermal management but I hear of people complaining when their class AB LM2/LM3 failed after 10 years of use, which may very well have been the intended design life.

Cheapo matting in operation. It's really grippy! It works and is cheap, why spend more for more obtrusive solutions? This wasn't the maximum tilt angle but I bottled it!

I kinda went a bit bonkers buying up second hand Markbass heads as they appeared for about the cost of a repair. If one fails every year (or every other gig at the moment!) I have enough to see me through to the end I reckon.

Both currently configured with the valve pre amp module and the HE version sporting the 4 band semi parametric EQ module. Oh, and they both have a very rare feature for Markbass amplifiers, a front panel mute switch....hoorah!

I used my 800 watt frame with solid state pre and 7 band graphic EQ with two NY121P cabs as a PA system playing loud dance music at some socially distanced garden parties back in 2020. Sounded absolutely killer!

Markbass intended for their dealers to each have a tower containing all the amp frames and modules that you could switch about to test which combination you preferred, then buy that configuration. Over the past 15 years Markbass has launched more bass amp products than any other brand, a few stick, but most are consigned to the discontinued category before too long. I think Marco just loves having fun with new product launches.

The cheapo matting is 2 to 3mm thick so shouldn't create any thermal problems. I use a piece between my ABS rack case and tolex Bergantino cabs which slips about like crazy without it.

I think "throwing" is exaggerating a bit. If you're playing at a decent volume some vibration is inevitable and hard plastic feet can slowly shift over the course of a gig unless you use a spirit level when setting up.

I remember a bit of controversy around the TC RH series when a lab test indicated their advertised RMS outputs appeared to be overstated. Apparently this was down to TC using clever limiting/compression type magic to make the numbers.

Exactly right, I do that too except when the handle is on the cab top face as they are on my Markbass NY121P cabs.

I bought a couple of Momark amps second-hand; the 500 watt class AB and 800 watt class D versions. I also managed to buy several modules for next to nothing (£20 to £50 each) so I could experiment and find my favourite combination. It's a great concept but probably not commercially viable. The set up costs for all of the individual injection mouldings, printed circuit boards, front panels etc. must've been enormous and never sold sufficient numbers to be worthwhile for Markbass. I love mine, they are beautifully made high quality amplifiers.

The cheapo anti-slip matting is perfect. It rolls/folds up to be stored easily too. I understand the bracing comment but I've played on raked theatre stages where my whole rig would move forward if I didn't put carpet beneath it, so hard plastic feet on smooth tolex would drift even with minor vibrations. Lightweight heads are also easier to drag off the cab if/when someone (usually me) accidentally trips on your bass instrument cable.

Chances are that your 2011 LM3 had a class AB power amp. Markbass introduced class D in LM3 in 2012 but yours could've been a really early example. If you could see two heatsinks through the side vents it was a class AB.

I believe the M version is based on the Ampeg PF series and the T on the GB Streamliner. Very different pre amps.

My Markbass LM2 and LM3 heads are class AB output. They are no larger than the majority of 500/800 watt class D output stage heads. You can have a class AB head without the need for large heavy transformers.

SOLD - Extremely scarce mid to late 1970s LH Fender Precision case. Jazz basses will NOT fit inside. If Fender made reliced cases for its Custom Shop heavy relics this could be one! All hardware fully functional and intact. I have even been able to source the correct Cheney key for the latch locks. Latch springs working as new. This case will carry your left hand P the correct way up (machine heads oriented upwards) and with the bass body on the left hand side as you open it; none of that ZZ Top bass spinning required before you hang it around your neck. I've pictured it with a RH P face down for reference. Right handed P basses fit inside okay too. For a case that's in the region of 42 to 47 years old it's got the perfect combination of wear/patina and mechanical integrity. SOLD - £350 ono inclusive of shipping within the UK or cheaper for local meet up/delivery near to Hertford. Thanks for looking. -

SOLD - Excellent condition Pedaltrain 1 board with hardcase. The board itself measures 22 inches wide, 12.5 inches deep, 3 inches max height. Case is pretty much as new other than a couple of dents on one of the aluminium corner extrusions but it is completely sound with no internal changes. Comes with keys and 27 inches of 3M self adhesive velcro hook tape. £95 ono collected from Hertford or local meet up, thanks for looking. -
I've got the same trolley that I use to move my 24.5kg Bergantino HD210 cabs (one at a time). My lightweight gear is used for practices but heavier gear goes to gigs whilst I can still manage it.
