I could be wrong of course....nice looking bass by the way.[/quote] I have always wondered about that, but then why is it called a thumb rest, in that position shouldn't it be called a fingers rest, or a useless rest, or a Get in the way of slapping rest? I had an old Fender Jazz bass with the thumb rest in the correct position above the E string.

Hope you don't mind an American/Croatian (two strikes) living near Geneva, Switzerland joining UK chat. Don't tell the authorities, I have Sky satellite! Makes me feel like I am in the UK. I am a bass addict. Unfortunately, it never paid the bills so have a full time job, but spend a lot of time playing the bass, talking about the bass, buying and trading basses and figuring out how to be able to make it a full time job! Maybe when the kids move out I can tour with the next Doors revival band..wait, they don't have a bass player, damn those Doors! Knew there was something missing from their sound. Football addict too, both the real football and the American version. At least will have one team playing England at the World Cup!
