  1. A few thoughts on the new multistep for live use after some gigs with it - It's so easy to scroll through the different fx within a patch. I never felt like it was too tricky to hit the scroll buttons on stage, or to see what effect I was scrolling to. The tuner is great. Very low noise. I only really use the following effects live: The ztron filter is great - I actually prefer it to the analog filters I've been using live. The analog octaver is also good, especially after having low expectations reading some comments. Maybe it misses the last 5% mid-warmth of an actual analog pedal, but I really didn't miss that, especially when playing live. I don't think I'd have really noticed a difference if I hadn't done side-by-side comparisons with a couple of octavers when I received the Multistomp. Compressors seem OK - haven't played much with p compressors before, but on low settings these seem to add a nice bit of thump in an IEM mix. And as a bonus, load in now entirely fits in one hard-case, which has been weirdly satisfying. What a fantastic bit of kit. Given the the eq, reverb and mod available, it's amazing it's so cheap. HPF and LPF alone often cost as much, let alone a versatile eq pedal. My only nagging worry is the long-term reliability, but that's based purely on unearned cynicism towards digital fx - it seems more than rugged enough.
  2. Hi mate. Having just finished a run of functions and wedding gigs using nothing but a bass, Multistomp and di, I think it feels really sturdy. It has already survived being knocked off an 18" sub onto a hard stage (thanks sound engineer) and picked up and dropped onto a tiled floor (thanks toddler). I've never gigged with a multi-fx, and was a little worried about reliability and sturdiness too, but it seems solid so far. Time will tell, though!
  3. This arrived today! Had a little time for a quick play, and first impressions are very, very good.
  4. Not from the last couple of gigs, but a few weeks ago we played a fundraiser for my boy's school- great party, organiser had got hold of a decent stage and we had a lovely old time! Raised a good amount, too. A little clip of our We Are Family/Alright Now fun- but not much bass playing... VID-20240714-WA0014.mp4 And here's a little clip of a Prince tune. VID-20240714-WA0010.mp4
  5. Welcome! That looks like a great practice/recording space!
  6. Don't often post clips here, but here's a little clip from a fundraiser we played a few weeks ago... complete with some dodgy moves from yours truly! VID-20240714-WA0010.mp4
  7. That gives them a lovely excuse to start buying louder toms and cymbals to match, though...
  8. We have also had to do that with our 6 piece weddings band. I feel quite lucky with our 'main' band, which is also the biggest earner. Us 5 core members are all great friends, and there's deps on call that we have got to know well over the years. I look forward to our gigs as much as I used to when this group got together almost 10 years ago. I think it helps that our singer, who is an exceptional front man, is very humble, and egos are left at the door! Currently depping in a few bands where that is definitely not the case, and the rising tension is palpable.
  9. It's so easy to do! Pedals seem to creep into my life- even though gigging life almost never calls for more than a very occasional octaver/envelope filter for the stubby stuff, there are eqs, preamps, Chinese knock-offs and fuzzes hidden away in the practice room.
  10. Absolutely love them- Californication, By The Way and Stadium Arcadium were the soundtracks to my teenage years, and I still think Californication in particular is a very, very good album.
  11. Hi mate, I have done this recently, using a Warman humbucker in the traditional stingray spot. I used 250k pots and it sounded fine. I know someone here suggested differently, but I would strongly suggest having parallel and single coil options available- I didn't find series very useful in a passive setup. I used the single coil closest to the neck most of all- one of the few times our band's usually dour sound engineer has complimented the sound of my bass was when using this!
  12. Also- I can't find any for sale anywhere in the UK. They must have gone fast! If anyone knows where I might pick one up, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.
  13. How do users feel about this new model, now they've had a little more time with it? I'd love to know how usable the envelope filters and octavers are. Is there an octave sound that can add some fat, dubby bass, rather than the 0C2 modeller that often appears in demos? Thanks
  14. These look great. I would love to know what the octavers and filters are like, if anyone would be good enough to share their early impressions?
  15. Reviving an old thread, as one of these arrived for me this week. My old octaver broke. I'd heard great things about the tracking in the Okto, so here we are. Octave side does not disappoint. Goes from dubby to OC-2esque, and tracks really low. Probably justifies the price alone. Genuinely as solid and versatile as any octave I've tried, including the 3 Leaf stuff. Fuzz side is synth city. I won't have much need for that live, but it makes for some proper fun. Low gain sounds very much like demos of the 3 Leaf Doom (though I've never played one). Really unique. High gain is chaos. Not a big fan of the sub-octave distortion, but there's more than enough going on with the synth-fuzz and octave. Love it! For 170 quid delivered from Bass Direct, this seems one of the better bargains out there. Surprised there's not a little more hype, as it ticks many boxes for bassists. Someone had said above they wondered whether they would set it as a single octave fuzz, or like 2 separate pedals. I'm thinking of it as a standalone fuzz alongside a standalone octaver, both of which sound great into an envelope filter. Using it live on Saturday, and can't wait!
  16. That sounds great - would you mind pointing me in the direction of the kit or guide you used, please? Thanks.
  17. I'm really looking forward to getting one of these. I know next to nothing about MIDI- are there any simple, cheapish 2 button switches that should work with this and help with easy preset switching, or is it a case of buying hosts and expensive units to get that side of the pedal working?
  18. Hi all, Forgive me if this is a silly question- I am new to routers. I have gifted a Bosch 1/4 inch 1,200w plunge router. One of the things I'd like to use it for is to rout cavities using templates, mainly for amatuer guitar building. I have been told to use flush trim bits for this. However, when the router is fully plunged, the collet is level with the top of the base. The base is 20mm thick. If 20mm of the bit's shank needs to be in the collet, that's a total of 40mm shank length needed before the bearing, if the bearing is going to get clear of the base. That's before considering the thickness of a template. From what I can see, there are no/very few bits with that sort of shank length before the bearing. Am I missing something here, or are flush trim bits not compatible with my router? Thanks.
  19. I don't think I'd ever bypass it, more likely have a preamp or amp always enabled, and switch on effects as and when. Do you not like the preamp/amp sounds into a d.i.? Cheers.
  20. So I've been thinking about getting a Stomp. Play in functions and corporate setups mostly. Almost always go d.i. The idea was to have a tuner, pre-amp, and maybe a couple of effects there - octaver, filter - in a box easy to just grab and go, with the bonus of some fun sounds to play around with for a couple of original projects. Also, I'm in need of a portable audio interface. Not a massive effects snob, and use them fairly sparingly. Play with IEMs, so used to not having that anp-in-a-room sound on gigs, and engineers almost always provide a d.i. box, so not too fussed about no XLR. It seems like it would be ideal, but some posts about that digital sound are making me hesitate. Would it work well for this situation?
  21. Also, I used a cheap and cheerful MM pickup from Warman which sounded fine. The cheap Wilkinson alcino V P pickup in there sounds positively great to me.
  22. Hi @BiteTheBoxer Yeah, it worked out OK thanks- really liked the parallel and single coil modes, and it did sound like a stingray. It sounded really nice, in fact! Ultimately, though, I don't think I'm a stingray man, so I've moved the MM towards the bridge (with some shoddy hand routing) and put a P pickup in, and I really like that combo! I think the tone pot for each coil is definitely possible, although strange. I'm not the right person to ask, though! Does the volume pot come after the tone pots?
  23. Nice! That looks great. How did you paint it? Also, just want to hop on the Warman fanclub. Am in the process of my first proper bass build, and the Warman MM humbucker I've used does the job nicely!
