This is a painful place to be if you have no sense of humour😀

Ahh the pipes of pan! Most likely. 😀

So how many people think a church pipe organ is just a lump of wood or is it also a piece of furniture and a crazy feat of engineering, bearing in mind the stops are different on differnt models and skilled players have to spend time with each one to know what the f=== is going on

Off course she will she's a drummer. She's on her second pint of ale👍
-
You've upset my wife she is crying with laughter and can hardly breath. 🤣
-
Did Townsend and Moon smash up their instruments in time I had no idea. They must be better than we thought 🤣
-
Looks like a piece of furniture to me. There's a surprise
-
I never realized twiggy was mscale fretless so no challenge then as a first build. You are one brave cookie🤣
-
DFTT it's only a bit of wood and he has a chip on his shoulder🤣
-
I have seen you post contentious questions as threads on here as well as anwers to others threads more than enough to know as will others that you seem to like starting a row.

You can't teach stupid

It's just a piece of wood isn't it? Where do you think the boutique guitar makers got all the veneer ideas etc from?

Meow!!

Having worked for a major furniture manufacturer for some years during that time I got to build for Royal Households and specials where extra strength or one off designs were wanted. Point is if I made your frame it would last a lifetime but I had people in the department who after 40 years of doing the job still built something that was an inadequate piece of junk that might not even get to the factory door without falling apart.😂 Yes it is a bit of wood but who used it is where the money is supposed to be.🤫

No. I was recently given an older Rockwood LX 90B by Hohner P bass by a friend who won't do anything with it as he plays guitar. It is very heavy and knocked about. Close inspection reveals is has a rather thick particle board body. I won't say mdf because there is nothing medium about it. Its plain dense and heavy. It plays and sounds sort of OK. It even resonates a bit but,,,🤣

I like fretless and also multiscale but have not experienced a combination of both. Anyone out there that does and how have you got on if so? Be great to get some insight into the ups and downs of it.

I wish

Have you tested the sound yet? Is it what you were looking for? If so Wilkinson's should pay you for an endorsement 🤣
-
Now Ive seen the whole thing I believe it is worth spending the money on and keeping it as original as is possible and the frets need some serious work anyway. Good as new and genuinely pre-aged.👍

Where abouts are you? Do you want to keep the type of finish or just get it nice and tidy? I can do an oil rubbed finish for you as I have to my own. One shown on here in the build section and my Aria that was scruffy and is now due to get put back together.

I believe at this point you are absolutely right. It is only 1mm on each side giving the 2mm overall so you would be drilling back into about half what you filled. Best left alone. Thanks for confirming the distances though. It reassures me that ocd isn't all bad. Maybe the angled bridge was done by design?🤗 Light bulb idea pops up? Sheme scheme scheme🤔

Opinions sought: Older bass player at a crossroads (and hello again!)
Ralf1e replied to benthos's topic in General Discussion
My grandson lives in Southsea (portsmouth area). His school have a good music section that has stuff to use but it could always be better. Schools just don't seem to get the funding for quality instruments. -
Not read it as I didn't know it existed. As for his interviews and demos of his style of play. Love it. Cant play it but still blown away by his skill 😀

It does appear to be a buyers market right now so maybe finding a bargain something else will do the trick.

I am 69 still play and there are others of an age that will want to jam or gig. Don't write yourself off so soon. You never know what you might do in retirement.
