As others said level and fret dress. Check neck is where it should be as you replaced it it might be at the wrong angle and need shimming. Its not rocket science as they say Its more difficult than that. Wood moves.

Not sure this is the right place but NBD new bridge day to me anyway. Found a pro bass player clearing out his drawer on Gumtree. He does some setup work for guys in London and he had about 6x 5 string bridges all quite fancy for around 25-35 and 3x4 string vintage style bridges for £5 each which I bought as he is only 6 miles from me. I rather like em and will find a home for sure for the brass one.

I don't doubt someone may be very happy to buy it. I just doubt that the little body blemishes which I can see easily from the photos haven't been touched up. To be fair at first glance I thought it's never been out of its case and is not even played in but as the photos unfolded a different story to my eyes I changed my mind. If I looked over most peoples used cars they might cry at what I would find. I am OCD. I can read hallmarks without an eye glass. To most people when something is out by a mm they don't see it. It screams at me from yards away. That doesn't make me too fussy it actually makes me have to be more tolerant. OK I'm a wierdo I confess 🤣

It's been very cleverly tarted up IMO It was also made with that naughty little blemish in the underside of the neck just down from the headstock. Must be better things to spend that money on.

If you try to use a router without a jig it WILL run away putting the bass and you at risk. Used with the right jig it has nowhere to go as long as you don't lift it while it is running. I don't have words to describe how dangerous they can be in the wrong hands. I have 5 of them please trust me on this.

My next door neighbor was the guitar tech at the local music store to where they are made knew them. Massively skilled man! ex aircraft engineer. He apparently made 8 string basses for a local company. I know who they were. You can guess. And if they name him in denial they are in the poo.

Sorry to be so late with this. One of the ways we used to do this kind of stuff is make a rectangular former and cut a hole the size needed and burn the thing to size with the heated former. In your case a scrap end to the tuner in question.

If you plunge routed it you could do it but would need to make a jig. If you have a router one of these will help for a one off it might not be worth it but you could make something similar from mdf or plastic sheet

They look like they didn't sleep at night working this out. Crazy good design if they are geared which they look to be. As long as they don't fall apart

I should have said if you have access to a bench drill you can set the depth gauge and it will be far easier I did this with a Makita cordless hand drill.

I bought a 5 string ff studio 5 waited 16 weeks for delivery. Great bass Made in indosplop land Body burst where the badly cut output jack is. PMT said it had been dropped without even seeing it face to face. It had burst while stored in its case. Never got any help from them or Schecter. One of the most skilled and over qualified carpenters I have ever met said it was bad use of grain in the wrong place. Save your money buy a Spector Euro That's the real name we are looking for. Copied but never beaten as many on here will testify

If you want slots then you could start them with Forstner bits. I just had a quick play with a scrap bit of ash. Used 15mm bit spaced at 19 mm clean out with 12mm chisel used a wider one to cut down through the edges first sanding out with little block. The holes can be filled with cyno and wood dust. Slot is about 2.5 mm deep

Sorry we got overlapped I was talking about the SUB not your cali bass when I said it was like the Harley Benton. I actually tried a cali up at our friends in Warwickshire but it didn't seem right. Young feller asked me how you getting on with it. I said doesn't feel right. His answer was. If it doesn't feel right then its not leave it. I left with a Warwick thumb bolt on that wasn't even on the shop floor. Loved it. Loved it so much I have now given it to my grandson and he is loving it and making good progress with it. He is still only 15 not been playing more than 18 months. Bloody show off lol. So glad to help him on the journey.
