  1. Cos your bass teacher was jealous of your big hands
  2. I know where the rubber mallets will be. Somewhere safe where you can never find them with the rawl plugs and the fuse wire 🤣
  3. I have seen plenty of evidence that cv's are as good if not better than MIM and USA builds especially the older MIJ cv's
  4. I'll have to go receipt digging for that period . Moved home since then so it might not be worth it. Then again I have bought two fender Mustang amps that I gave away to young relatives as part of my encourage them campaign.
  5. I bought Fender leads exclusively around that time. Do they count. Switched to Roland black leads since then. Much better and the last he he
  6. New cars mostly = ego and prestige. Instruments = investment I bought my Westy Thunder 3 for £95 First Westy Spectrum LX for £250 Second Westy Spectrum LX for £270 In Japan and on Reverb people are still asking £1500 for any of them and there is hardly ever more than one good one for sale. Not saying they ever get that but I have seen some of each disappear off of Reverb in recent times when the prices get closer to £1000. By contrast had a nice notification from the holders of my pension fund a while ago telling me they have lost over £5300 of its value in the first few months of this year. Ouch came to mind I could have taken that out and invested it as shown above even after being mugged by the tax man.
  7. Cheeky question, Listening to live play (In my case in church) and all sounds good. Get back home and replay the music on YouTube and find singers seem off key (a bit flat) Any ideas. I am not part of the tech team but have you experienced this? If so is it a you tube thing or something our end. Latency or what or some piece equipment they don't have?
  8. Float thumb and little finger gently rested on strings when I play staccato semi muted barking notes. I sure there is a name for them but I don't have a clue what it might be.
  9. If you just want to protect it from further damage e.g. damp getting into the block board and get rid of the sharp edges then drop fill the chips with clear fast setting epoxy followed by cyno which does polish up. If otherwise leave it alone or strip it right back and start again. If you are doing it yourself be sure to use grain filler or you will most likely get bubbles. My bro bought one of those years ago for his studio. It was a really good bass. He loved it.
  10. Sorry Lefty didn't sink in to me. It should have I was born one and forced to switch
  11. Like that. Gonna sneak off and see it all later👍
  12. I look on Gumtree etc on a regular basis. I don't buy basses or other items like amps and so on because I need them. I buy them because they are there and at what I consider a bargain price There are exceptions like my Aria SB900 that it took many years to get around to finding but mostly now I buy as investment value. Examples are. One of my Westone Spectrum LX's I paid peanuts for as it had rotted battery in it. The guy selling it didn't even know it was active. The Fender USA Jazz I bought this week turned out to have the same issue rotted battery and at least one broken pot. Easy repair. I checked the pickups they are good as is the truss rod. A squire 40th anniversary p bass I bought a while ago for £50 gave it a set up its a good un An Ashdown Electric Blue 180 EVO II I got for £75. It is oldish and heavy but it's tone is really nice and saves dragging a bigger rig about to practice sessions The Tanglewood Baron bass I found a while ago for £75 is so much bass for the money. That also needed the battery wiring given the kiss of life. I am a hoarder by nature so having retired at 69 earlier this year looking out for these things keeps me out of mischief or not as the case may be.
  13. Buy a cheaper FF until you know if it suites you
  14. Harley Benton. IMHO Best value for the money by far and some of them play and sound better than guitars well over twice the price
  15. Do you give your cat treats like Dreamies? Vets call it kitty crack and it is really bad and personality warping stuff. Beam me up Dreamy
  16. I like them very much. My first was an Ibanez 5 string, then a 4 string Ormsby, A Sheckter studio 5 and a 5 string headless made by Steven Hart. I still have them all and for me the transition between fan fretted and conventional has never been a problem although I am not a very complex player. My favourite is the Hart one as its fits me so well and is very well balanced so that it just sits at the right angle. It was the least expensive as well as he had it in stock and wanted to shift it. I think he built if for someone who let him down over the deal. Their loss my gain.
  17. It looks OK Ive seen far worse on factory built guitars. I am looking forward to seeing the finished item. I had a nicely equipped workshop until about 4 years ago. planer, router table, 14" throat Startrite ceramic guide bandsaw, table saw, compound mitre saw, bench drill, 150 litre tank twin cylinder compressor, mig welder, lathes one for wood one for metal. Took me years to have that lot. We had to downsize to a bungalow so had to let it all go. Now I work on the conservatory table so I know how you feel.🥲 I did keep my routers, drills, hand planes and saws etc. That bass in the Vid sounds awesome! Hopefully yours will to.
  18. That needs to be cut with a router really
  19. It has a broken volume pot but I will replace them both. The wiring is a badly done mess so I might just buy a kit and put that in or buy new pots and redo it all anyway. The rear pickup live has been soldered to its own shielding and then grounded to the second pot is that a common mod or a balls up any ideas?
  20. I've messaged the seller anyway. If it's real and it seems so I can't see it being there for long. I think I might have found the problem🤣
  21. It is now at my home. As I half expected it has a problem being the electrics are dead. He had no idea what he had. I suspect the hidden battery for the EMG circuit is dead. Maybe a cheap jack socket was put it when that was done. It will be dealt with but not tonight. I just cooked beer battered fish and chips which goes well with real ale so they say. My lovely wife is dishing them u as we speak 😉
  22. Only thing on Google against that number is a comment on here today
  23. I'll give that Google a try. Thanks for that
