That's why I bought it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing for the price. I have Matsu Japanese basses so I knew what I was seeing with the through neck etc. The Gent who sold it to me is a luthier who repairs and does set ups on upright double basses as well as other stuff. He said he bought it to restore but changed his mind about it. Probably too much to replate the tired metalwork. I like it anyway and it's pre reliced😀. I tried it out again for sound in a different amp (an Ashdown electric blue 180) it sound huge not as I thought. It has different pups to the ones shown in the photoes and no signs of being modded to take them. They are Mighty Mite, look like hum buckers (soap bars)

I just tried to find it and I may be mistaken. The H B Jazz on Gtree is the same model but a whitish one at £450. Still sounds too much

Absolutely agree 100%. I thought it must be something like that when I saw it.

Ahh lovely. I only paid £75 for it. I thought the build quality in the photos was enough to have a punt at it.

The one on Gumtree is a Jazz in that lovely colour

Thank you so much for the quick help. I haven't been able to find any pictures like it anywhere. Were they considered to be any good?

Someone was selling one of them on Gumtree for about £500. I was shocked and thought it must be a typo. Didn't know Harley Benton calculators could get that high🤣

Anyone can help with what model Tanglewood this is. Got it as a cheapy some while ago. Gave it a bit of love, partial new cover plate as 1/2 was missing, fret clean and set up It has Mighty Mite pups, a laminated through neck using unusual darker timber. Plated metal knut and bridge, some kind of pre-amp which appears to work. Plays OK but has a weak sound compared to my other basses.

Would that limit your choice of strings? I had a nasty experience of wrecking some Labella flats turning them too tight

The headstock on my Steven Hart bass. Minimal! But you still need to truss adjust.

Like that. At first I thought the head stock (whats left of it) looked strange but seeing it in context with the body it fits in with it. Looks organic like something that came out of the sea. Blue eyed sea monster!

What are your tuners? Are they good? Are they fixed to the plate? Can they be had in sets of 5? Will thy make my bank account cry? Forget it I just followed your link. Very helpful info in all of that.

NBD - Shocking stuff from PMT, pre dinged and missing backplate
Ralf1e replied to lemmywinks's topic in Bass Guitars
It's PMT. I bought a brand new Ibanez ff5 from them online. Instructions it was not to be messed about with by staff etc. Turned up to collect it. No box no paperwork. They went to get it. Few minutes later after I had a quick look at the store stock I come back to the counter and some spotty git is playing my brand new (don't unbox) it bass. The excuse was we don't keep the boxes there isn't room to store them. I also bought a Sheckter ff studio 5 from them which I waited 16 weeks for. Some time afer I got it The body burst right next to the output jack while it was stored in it's case for some while not being used. Sent them photos and all I got out of them was "it's been dropped" It had only been played about 3-4 times in church and treated like a baby Bad use of grain using over accelerated kiln dryed timber is the real culprit. They were not interested in helping me one bit other than to offer to charge me for one of their guitar tecs to fix it. My experience leaves my to not trust them anymore. Instead of driving 22 miles to Oxford I now head the opposite way to Andertons in Guildford. They sell B stock as B stock not pretend it's new in box. Looking at the way your wires are all yanked out I question why was anyone nosing around in there in the first place. The cover didn't take itself off. I hope it all ends up doing what you want it to. As for PMT. The staff need retraining to stop the vandalism. -
Wow! What a multi tasker you are. Congrats on getting your head around that lot. What do you auction? or is it mixed general items?

Buying with the set up is a really good call. It will transform it and make learning a joy instead of a chore. Lots of people buy badly set up guitars and basses and can't get on with it so give up. Hint. You can buy finger stretchers and exercisers.

Greetings from Buckinghamshire. I'll have a nose at that course. Never followed a course before or had lessons. Sure it can't hurt to look. Nice bass. I have heard good things about them as well although not seen one in the wild.

Gold finish o ring or black o ring. Hipshot do them they look nice and in theory are practical. Look good on that bass

Bow and arrow hire £50 a day. All lost arrows must be paid for. :-))

Go window shopping and try some out. I always said I would never have one. Got lots of other basses. I recently found a Squire anniversary P bass for £50 on Gumtree. Bought it. Took it home, neck off, fret dress, truss rod adjusted, cleaned out a badly cut neck pocket and put in a brass shim. Intonation sorted. Strings nice and low. Plays very well and sounds far better than I ever expected. Great bass no money. They are out there. Go get one Tiger.
