  1. That is pointy. (somebody has to simply state the obvious)
  2. It’s ironic how a solitary pursuit becomes public performance. I’m thankful that I just worry about personal gear , I don’t worry about moving PA , band gear , or rentals. I’ve always been gigging , aside from the pandemic breaks , since the mid 70’s , and keep my gig gear by the door. So the first question is one cab or two , and fire the stuff in the car. Will I use a different bass or just run the regulars ? I rarely play outside of town so I’m going to expect to see some I’ve known for ages. I’ll probably meet some new ones. Some will look familiar. I mostly play the mid sized rooms downtown. Just a working stiff. No big star. If it’s a band that’s under rehearsed I might have some anxiety. That usually goes quickly after things get underway. There is something different about every time you play. And after all these years I still enjoy a good gig,
  3. It was the joy to play that got me , and so I bought some more short scales. And then began to realize that that’s what I was now mostly playing. So I have some vintage classic basses that are not getting much playing time. I just can’t see the point in selling them though because I certainly appreciate what they are.

The SL cabs have a very pronounced mid range. Sometimes at home I give it a good scoop , it’s still a nice thick sound at quiet volume.
  5. I don’t miss the early mornings after the late nights either.
  6. That’s lovely , Andy! The trad scene is very much alive in NS.
  7. I’m just a thumper , but have a bunch of old friends in the metal business. They like fresh strings and pedals. Their choice of basses actually is pretty normal.
  8. You’re a fifty year old Morris dancing goth that plays the accordion ? welcome ! … this thread really deserves some pics!
  9. They don’t give a damn about legal repercussions in the People’s Republic.
  10. I feel strongly about the counterfeits of instruments that are truly designed to deceive , but these are easily spotted at a glance. I know that doesn’t make sense…
  11. The drive down to Niagara is gorgeous this time of year!
  12. My favourite dive downtown has the classic issues. Lots of neon signs around the stage , and there’s a couple of outlets the regulars avoid. I think the owner found someone who’d do some wiring for beer. And yet it’s my favourite venue.

Big Berg! I’ve been looking at the Sisma.
  15. Ringo also played some piano and guitar. And I’d bet was a better bassist than Lennon.
  16. Never thought of him as a bass player. I’d bet Ringo was a better Bass player…

I’d been rooting around for a little TH for a while. The search is over. I like it.
  18. A friend recently bought an Ashdown in Texas , but the amp quickly had some issues and he had service problems. I was telling him the service in England was stellar. … back it went
  19. I’ve driven around Toronto. madness
  20. Welcome. You might find an interesting amp in the classifieds. (amp nerd here)
