    I tend to go for straightforward things , but showed my wife a photo of a big orange hollow body Gretsch , she took one look and said “get it”. It’s been a favourite ever since.

    I have the HA-1 and find it’s an elegant solution.

    If it comes down to a pissing contest , I’m normally pushing 700 watts. I usually run it at around three. Before it gets bad the BL will normally call for the drummer to give us a rimshot , which is a cue to drop the dynamic.

    We look after my 99 yr old mother-in-law , and I have a little practice nook set up at her place. Not a big room , carpeted , and I practice at a pretty quiet volume. So I find the C2 is a great little cab for that … but for rehearsal with a drummer it won’t cut it , my little Barefaced One 10 will deliver that without breaking a sweat. I just picked up the Darkglass m200 and look forward to using it at the next rehearsal. I have other bigger stuff for gigging.

    Thank you , ghostwheel I run a little red C2 cab for home practice as well. Most often with a Darkglass e500. I’ve found the C2 wonderful for quiet practice , but not suitable for rehearsal or gigs with other players. It doesn’t fill a room.

    I was initially quite shocked to realize I had absolutely no idea that there was such a thing going on. And had been going on for ages.

    The bluegrass scene is quite the subculture. Between Maine and New Brunswick the real diehards here are off to a festival to go camping most weekends throughout the summer. I was introduced to it some years back and had no idea it was such a thing.

    I was in a similar situation for years. I’d get a rehearsal tape … we might try the material at soundcheck , or just have a go at it. We were always adding material.

    I hit a point in my 30’s where I decided that I was done travelling and was only taking gigs in town. The circuit was a misery. I was tired of the road food and the hours sitting in a van. It was a good call.

    I’ve found you have to sit right in front of the C2 , it’s directional , doesn’t really fill a room. However it’s perfect for quiet practice.

    My Dano Longhorn still has the factory strings , it’s from the first batch of reissues so they’ve been on since 98 or so. I have some TI flats on a 4001 that are probably five or six years older. I think the strings on an old 72 Pbass might be older. I’m mostly playing short scales now so it’s unlikely I’ll be changing any of those now , I have a set of LaBella flats set aside in case I lose a winding or break a string on the Dano.

    A couple of little practice amps , my practice nook at the in-laws. Darkglass m200 over a One10 , e500 over a C2 , couple of Gretsch basses , couple of Gibsons. I recently picked up the Elf and the m200 so I’ve been bouncing between them. Couple of old Yamaha NE-1 preamps too.

    And the lost has been found , recently updated my IPad and had to re-log into the Darkglass Suite to access my library. All 131 presets I’d created are still there. I should trim that back to maybe 25 and then create maybe a dozen new ones!
