A lot of Trace present in this rig... yet it doesn't seem to be as popular as it once was? Why is that? I used to have a fair bit of Trace and I never really dug the sound despite everybody saying that it should be what I should be using. It certainly doesn't seem as prolific now...?
I was always a big fan of the cabs more than the amps but now that you can get light weight stuff for realistic prices, it makes better sense for someone like me who just wants to lift a cab and a combo in and out of the gig in one go without needing help or a visit to the chiropractor. Plus, when I was a young lad my bass hero was Nathan East who was using Trace at the time so that's what made me buy it initially, then I suppose brand familiarity and nostalgia kept it going until I couldn't be bothered lifting 40kg cabs 2 or 3 nights every weekend

Another one for the Herco 75s. Same ones as Chris Squire uses apparently

Thank you Mr Foxen. Been looking for one of these

I'm now 13 days away from trying one. I totally have my heart set on a Rick but if it turns out not to be the one for me then I won't be upset about it. I had one a few years back but I wasn't ready for one if that makes sense. I'm like a kid waiting to go to the candy store

This guy clearly did his homework

Philips bulbs? I have a packet in the cupboard. I'm in if that's all it needs -
Next up is the blackbird body. it came to me having had a dunt on the bottom. I have attempted to fill it but its not perfect. Its finished in Ford Imperial Blue and glitter laquer. It hasn't begun to be sanded yet as I noticed that I'd missed a bit after I'd finished. The inserts for the original bridge have gone as I have bought individual chrome jobbies for something a bit different. You'll just need to drill a hole through to the control cavity for the ground wire. I've also bought a set of generic Gotoh GB7 style chrome tuners to finish the look as well. There's also the neck from my Thunderbird with the fretfx LEDs along the top.You sometimes have to wiggle the battery to get a good connection but they look the bollox when they're on Right, the prices are as follows:

Blackbird body with original electronics but no pickups or bridge £40
Blackbird neck including neck plate £40
Thunderbird Body with standard 3 point bridge, black metal knobs, electronics, strap buttons but no pickups £60
Thunderbird neck with side LEDs, Gibson copy truss rod cover and neck plate £100 (the Fretfx LEDs are £75 on their own)
NIkki Sixx Deep Sixx pickups £50
4 individual chrome bridges £20
I want to sell all of this ASAP so am open to offers on different combinations of parts or all of it. All prices include shipping to mainland UK. In fact I'll do all of it including the brand new chrome tuners and my Roksak Thunderbird gig bag which is still in fantastic condition for £260 delivered I may be persuaded to part with my EMG 35HZ pickups for £60. I also have a set of EMG35P/J pickups for £75 but you're going to struggle to fit a battery in the control cavity if at all

OK guys and gals I'm having a big clear out of the majority of my basses and parts. Before I go any further, The blackbird is MIC and the thunderbird is MIK so sanding is required to get the blackbird neck on to the thunderbird body and you'll have a bit of a gap in the neck pocket with the thunderbird neck and blackbird body if that's what you want. I've started sanding the neck pocket of the thunderbird to fit the blackbird neck and had a go at sanding the blackbird neck as well but I honestly cannot be ar$$ed with this caper any more so its all up for grabs. Rotosound flats. Very bright and possible to EQ so that they sound like slightly worn in rounds. £30 a set and I'm 18 months into mine so that works out at £1.67 per month so far.

Another thing about a lot of modern maple that I've seen is that unless they use tinted laquer, it looks a lot paler than the older stuff which makes it look cheap. I'm not just going on old basses that I've seen recently as the laquer will have tinted more over the years but older basses that were new when I had them years ago

Had some dick last night tell our singer that he thought I was all over the place and not playing in time. Hmm, that would be why I had several musicians come up to me at the end of the night telling me they liked what I played. One of these "I used to be in a band" dicks that should be at home with his cocoa and slippers. There is always one and that's the thing - it normally is just one person. Chances are they have no idea about being a musician, playing live or simply like to complain about things. They're everywhere unfortunately. Just ignore them

I'm having a big change over as I am wont to do so my lovely big Gallien Krueger rig is now up for sale. For something coming in at about 32kg between combo and cab, this is scary loud and I haven't even begun to push it. This comprises of a 2x10" 500w combo ( 350w on its own ) and 400w 8ohm 1x15" cab to get the full 500w out of the amp. Its in really good condition apart from the bottom of the vinyl on combo and cab which is marked from sliding it in and out of gigs. I mean if I didn't it would float away, right? Both combo and cab come complete with Roqsolid covers which cost me £35 each. All in all they cost me £810 so I am selling it to you, 7 months later for the nuts price of £500 plus postage which will only be about £20 due to the light weight

My favourite bass solo bits are Bigtime and the outro to Does it Really Happen by Yes

Luthman-wow. That's not a name I've come across before but the basses look really good without being coffee tables

Now I have been watching the Lulls but that's going to be a trip I do fancy a 76' which is a year away from being a YOB bass. Now that Decade looks surprisingly like a Bass V and I imagine the pickups to be the bollocks. Keepemcoming, I'm really enjoying them so far
Gibson RD artist would be my first port of call with that budget
I was looking at the Krist Novoselic earlier but do prefer the original RD model

Having said that I don't like Stingrays, I keep getting drawn to the g&L L2000 30th anniversary, £1278 fromThomann
