1. I think this is all of them: Squier 15w guitar amp (my first amp when I was 12) Peavey TNT 160 Trace 7210H Trace 1048H Trace 1153 Trace 1524 Trace 1528 V-type cab Trace 1248H V-type cab Trace Multistack 15 Trace 2103H Trace 1110 MkV 4x10" combo Trace 1518 Series 6 Trace AH150 MkV Trace 7215 Trace Bright Box Gallien Krueger 800RB Gallien Krueger 700RB II (3 of them) Gallien Krueger MB210 Combo Gallien Krueger 115MBE cab Schroeder 1212L Crate 2x15" Ashdown ABM500 chrome rack mount thingy Ashdown ABM115 (x2) Ashdown Mag 810 Hartke LH500 HH Combo115 Peavey 410TX Ashdown Mag 410 (x3) Hartke 215XL Hartke 120w Kickback combo Laney NX115 Even I'm surprised by that and I think that there may be more that I've missed.
2. I'm now 13 days away from trying one. I totally have my heart set on a Rick but if it turns out not to be the one for me then I won't be upset about it. I had one a few years back but I wasn't ready for one if that makes sense. I'm like a kid waiting to go to the candy store
3. Philips bulbs? I have a packet in the cupboard. I'm in if that's all it needs
4. Next up is the blackbird body. it came to me having had a dunt on the bottom. I have attempted to fill it but its not perfect. Its finished in Ford Imperial Blue and glitter laquer. It hasn't begun to be sanded yet as I noticed that I'd missed a bit after I'd finished. The inserts for the original bridge have gone as I have bought individual chrome jobbies for something a bit different. You'll just need to drill a hole through to the control cavity for the ground wire. I've also bought a set of generic Gotoh GB7 style chrome tuners to finish the look as well. There's also the neck from my Thunderbird with the fretfx LEDs along the top.You sometimes have to wiggle the battery to get a good connection but they look the bollox when they're on Right, the prices are as follows:

Blackbird body with original electronics but no pickups or bridge £40
Blackbird neck including neck plate £40
Thunderbird Body with standard 3 point bridge, black metal knobs, electronics, strap buttons but no pickups £60
Thunderbird neck with side LEDs, Gibson copy truss rod cover and neck plate £100 (the Fretfx LEDs are £75 on their own)
NIkki Sixx Deep Sixx pickups £50
4 individual chrome bridges £20
I want to sell all of this ASAP so am open to offers on different combinations of parts or all of it. All prices include shipping to mainland UK. In fact I'll do all of it including the brand new chrome tuners and my Roksak Thunderbird gig bag which is still in fantastic condition for £260 delivered I may be persuaded to part with my EMG 35HZ pickups for £60. I also have a set of EMG35P/J pickups for £75 but you're going to struggle to fit a battery in the control cavity if at all
5. OK guys and gals I'm having a big clear out of the majority of my basses and parts. Before I go any further, The blackbird is MIC and the thunderbird is MIK so sanding is required to get the blackbird neck on to the thunderbird body and you'll have a bit of a gap in the neck pocket with the thunderbird neck and blackbird body if that's what you want. I've started sanding the neck pocket of the thunderbird to fit the blackbird neck and had a go at sanding the blackbird neck as well but I honestly cannot be ar$$ed with this caper any more so its all up for grabs. 6. Rotosound flats. Very bright and possible to EQ so that they sound like slightly worn in rounds. £30 a set and I'm 18 months into mine so that works out at £1.67 per month so far.
7. Another thing about a lot of modern maple that I've seen is that unless they use tinted laquer, it looks a lot paler than the older stuff which makes it look cheap. I'm not just going on old basses that I've seen recently as the laquer will have tinted more over the years but older basses that were new when I had them years ago
8. I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure
9. Had some dick last night tell our singer that he thought I was all over the place and not playing in time. Hmm, that would be why I had several musicians come up to me at the end of the night telling me they liked what I played. One of these "I used to be in a band" dicks that should be at home with his cocoa and slippers. There is always one and that's the thing - it normally is just one person. Chances are they have no idea about being a musician, playing live or simply like to complain about things. They're everywhere unfortunately. Just ignore them
10. I'm having a big change over as I am wont to do so my lovely big Gallien Krueger rig is now up for sale. For something coming in at about 32kg between combo and cab, this is scary loud and I haven't even begun to push it. This comprises of a 2x10" 500w combo ( 350w on its own ) and 400w 8ohm 1x15" cab to get the full 500w out of the amp. Its in really good condition apart from the bottom of the vinyl on combo and cab which is marked from sliding it in and out of gigs. I mean if I didn't it would float away, right? Both combo and cab come complete with Roqsolid covers which cost me £35 each. All in all they cost me £810 so I am selling it to you, 7 months later for the nuts price of £500 plus postage which will only be about £20 due to the light weight
11. Its a wee bit far for me, even going half way. Couriering it is about £45 the last time I looked. That's a shame, I quite fancy getting myself a couple of these. They're fantastic cabs
12. Where abouts are you located?
13. My favourite bass solo bits are Bigtime and the outro to Does it Really Happen by Yes
14. Luthman-wow. That's not a name I've come across before but the basses look really good without being coffee tables
15. Now I have been watching the Lulls but that's going to be a trip I do fancy a 76' which is a year away from being a YOB bass. Now that Decade looks surprisingly like a Bass V and I imagine the pickups to be the bollocks. Keepemcoming, I'm really enjoying them so far
16.
Gibson RD artist would be my first port of call with that budget
I was looking at the Krist Novoselic earlier but do prefer the original RD model
17. Having said that I don't like Stingrays, I keep getting drawn to the g&L L2000 30th anniversary, £1278 fromThomann
18. Time for the mighty Overloaded to return to Behind the Wall, Falkirk this Saturday. 6, count em, 6 new songs including Superstition, 20th Century Boy, Won't back down, Take me To the River, Won't get fooled again and Feel Like Making Love as well as the usual energetic Overloaded set. Its a veritable musical smorgasbord in the middle of down town Scotland.
19. I always regret not picking up the Alembic Epic 5 string in Glasgow Guitar Guitar a couple of years ago for £850. The used prices of those have certainly jumped. I'll have a look into A bass. I remember a story about the other two Ronnies -Wood and Lane going into Tony's shop and saying "I'll have that one and that one and that one" and just taking half the shop away with them
20. Surprised this hasn't came up yet. This is the kind of playing that you absorb when your bass player happens to be Abe Laboriel Snr
21. When August 13th arrives this year I will have been playing the bass for 25 years and have always promised myself something special. I've had a lot of basses over the years and more or less kept buying and selling cos I just fancied something else and I am at the stage where I'd like to buy myself a retirement bass - that is something I can keep until I end my playing career. I've had a lot of basses from stuff that I got for nowt to £3000 jobbies and everything in between. I always say that I've had everything from A to Z (except Alembic & Zon) I'm going to have somewhere in the region of about £2-2500 which would pretty much buy anything within reason second hand and quite a lot brand new. This thread isn't about what I should buy but to give me some pointers to stuff that I could try that I maybe hadn't thought about. I have a list of things that I don't like which includes: Fenders - unless its something unusual like a Coronado or Bass V or even a Precision Elite II Anything with fanned frets Musicman Stingrays Coffee table basses, including single cuts Fretless - much as I enjoy playing them its not a sound I can use live Anything with more than 4 strings Anything beat up, reliced, cracked, scratched, dinged, donged, dirty and so on so it has to be pretty much perfect condition which rules out most vintage stuff unless its been kept in your uncle's loft for the past 30 years just waiting for something along the lines of Ebay to be invented. I had at first thought about getting myself a new Rickenbacker 4003 but I've seen some early 70s and older Fenders going for less on the forum so that's got me thinking about what else I could try. I really like the look of the Spector Doug Wimbish but on that style of bass I really prefer an EMG 35xx style pickup, plus its over budget. I want to try a Wal as certain models are within my budget as are certain Alembics and Ken Smiths. I wouldn't be adverse to buying a top end Ibanez, Peavey or Yamaha either, I've actually always wanted to try the Yamaha BB3000MA and still have a nostalgic look at the Peavey TL5s and Rudy Sarzos that appear on Ebay from time to time . Any ideas would be most welcome. I will most likely begin trying stuff in about 3 weeks time so would like to have a good idea of what else is out there. Thanks in advance
22. The body looks like a 4003S but would normally have dot inlays. Its hard to tell at that angle and without any binding visible. Is the top edge of the body rounded or square?
23. Behind the cloth of this cab was a standard Trace Elliot grill I'm planning on doing something removable myself with my GK combo and cab when I play with the Getback band so it looks a bit more Vox
24. I began using flats about 18 months ago as I was fed up of the roughness of rounds. I've been using Rotos and they are fantastic and the strings I put on all my basses now. Punchy, growly and fantastic when slapped. To be honest, when I play people do a double take as they think I'm using slightly used rounds. They don't change between out of the box and 18 months later. Still sound exactly the same
