1. A serious one from me this time. If you have a penchant for going through basses like me or even if not, get yourself down to Wilkinsons or a cheap shop of some kind and pickup yourself up a set of allen keys. I picked up a set of metric and imperial in edinburgh for about £3. That will save you having to ask what one you need as you already have it and it just a matter of a couple of minutes finding the right one.
2.
Leave your glasses on when you're playing?
on a pitch black stage with a black bass? When a band I was playing with did the Scottish Beatles weekend in August, the lights failed at one point during the set so we played in complete darkness. The singer had to use his phone to see the lyrics but I could see perfectly thanks to the LEDs
3.
Have you seen the fretfx LEDs? Got no experience of them, only found out about them the other day on a market place post. https://fretfx.com/
I've had two basses fitted with these and am about to order a set for my Precision. Unless you're completely ham fisted they are really easy to fit and do the business.
4. Keep out of the black and in the red, nothing in this game for two in a bed
5. Or buy one ready made I dare say you could buy an ebony one and age it. Might be easier than trying to age a bit plastic Or even get one of the maple ones, paint it black and the relic it

7. I just emailed them with the details and they got back to me with the part number and cost. I just needed to call the number in the email to order the part.
8.
I'm using 50 gauge Rotosound flats and they're 50, 75, 95, 110 so it should be possible but you may have to adjust your bass every time you go from dropped tunings to standard and vise versa
Never quoted myself before but seem to have been ignored here I use 50, 75, 75 110 gauge strings in standard tuning and when I used a 5 string would use a 135 as a B

10. Station Hotel in Shotts last night depping. I got a set list on Monday with about a dozen songs. Luckily I remembered a few that weren't on the list as I'd depped with them on Boxing day last year. Overkill was the word of the day with no fewer than 6 power amps and a huge PA. The tops were Apogee. probably about 60kg each and the subs were probably more. There was so much bottom end that the tops were moving around on top of the subs. I was using their bass player's rig which was a Hartke HA5000 into a fullrange PA cab consisting of an Eminence 15" Kappa, 10" Kappa and JBL horn. It was rumbly loud. They've got a good set. Had the chance to play some stuff I've never done before like Sledghammer (used the Boss OC-2), Sultans of Swing, Bon Jovi's In These Arms, Maniac by MIchael Sembello (used in flashdance or something like that) as well as some familiar stuff like Superstition, Dakota, Human and Sex on Fire. Had a really good night and got a lot of good comments. 24 years later and there's no feeling better than someone telling you they think you are a good player. These Rotos flats really slap well and sound great with a plectrum. Used the gold Precision all night. I f***ing love this bass. it rocks.
11. That is stunning. Have the side dot markers been move to the fret marker position when the ebony board was added? I've told myself that I'm not having another fretless but I've been listening to quite a bit of vintage Pino lately so one could be on the cards but I need to sell my Thunderbird first

13. John Deacon playing "You're my Best Friend"?
14. I have a really vague recollection of someone doing that but I can't remember who it was
15. Peavey stuff is sh*t hot but heavy as buggery. The only reason I don't use it. Its rock solid and takes a pile of abuse My GK MB210 & 115MBE combined weight less than a Peavey 1x15"
16. I remember what I said about basses being nothing but wood and metal but I really never thought I'd ever sell my Thunderbird. Well, technically I haven't as its still for sale but its for sale meaning that I am willing to sell it and let go of it. I didn't think that I ever would.
17. Have you been in bed or something and missed the 7 page thread on these here? Yay, Fenders or something
18. Was I the only one to read that as "Cheese Giant Halos rar.."?
19.
8 string bass.
or go for the man's mans bass, the 12ver. Nothing sounds like it and no pedal can realistically emulate it. You can't play really fast or it sounds like someone throwing a piano and a baritone sax down the stairs but its mighty impressive in a 3 piece. Alternatively, subtle use of an octaver during guitar solos is something else that thickens out the sound. I played for 15 years in a 4 piece that was technically a 3 piece with drums, vocals, guitar and bass so have plenty experience. The 12 string isn't necessary but just work out what you're going to play during the solo.
20. I've been looking at the Peavey IP1600 which is 2u and comes in at 3.2kg I think you can get a rack mount kit for the Gallien Krueger MB500 and just use it the same way as you use the Orange amp. Alternatively, the Harley Benton BA500H from Thomann which is made by Beta Aivin and supposedly an Ibanez Promethian in disguise
21. All the specs are here they're only 200w but it was only 10 years ago I was only using a 200w combo Looks like they are the replacements for the blx series and probably constructed in the same Chinese factory as the MBE series albeit a different shape and with ceramic instead of neo drivers. Bob Gallien himself has said that the MBE series is the lightweight version of the Neo series cabs minus the bi-amp function and aluminium grills. So the MBX is probably the neo minus the above and heavier? Pass - a complete guess. I would recommend trying them out. I never even considered the MBX series as I wanted something with a higher power rating and lighter than what I already had which was the Laney Nexus 15" at 20kg
22. I've just got myself the MB210 combo and am impressed with it so far. Still need to do a bit of tweaking but it is really loud. I've also just got myself a matching 400w 115MBE cab as well from the same series for larger gigs. the 15", 2x10" & 2x12" MBE series cabs have the same footprint so you can mix and match them Both combo and cab come in at 15kg each The specs for thr cabs are here but it doesn't give any details for the 400w version of the 15" that I have just bought, only the 200w 4ohm one
23. Apparently the Cliff Williams AC/DC signature Stingray was going to be strung E E E E
