1. Roksak I'm using one for my Thunderbird (I've got the thunderbird shaped one) the big pocket will be roomy enough for a shuttle and there's even a velcro loop in there for attaching cables to. The smaller pocket on the front is ideal for tools and a leatherman fits inside the pocket inside that one. Been using mine since last year and it looks as good as new and I have on occasion had it over my shoulders, mainly to give me less trips to the car but also when taking the bus to gigs where everything is supplied.
2. An update to after fitting these strings. The thick part of the E comes right up to just under the tuning peg that holds the string and I was a bit wary at first but all is fine. I have a standard scale precision.
3. Try a Gallien 700RB II with 2 MAG 4x10" cabs and stand well back. The sound of the cabs depends on the amp you use and that combination is a winner. Easily stood up to 2 guitarists with everything on 10
4. looks like the route is for the standard 2 pots and a jack rather than being widened to accomodate the third pot. I would've thought that they would route all P bodies the same to allow for this control configuration
5. I've had good and bad with Ashdown. The opposite to some on here: Bad with the ABM and good with MAG cabs. When Ashdown first began, everyone saw them as the new Trace Elliot cos they kind of were in a way and because how many people loved Trace and how good they were, I think some longed for the golden age of the Series V stuff to return, albeit in a modified and improved form. The Superfly amps were brilliant as a concept but I read too many topics of failures occuring and when the Little Giant came out people were wary as there were still Superflys with outstanding issues so how could this new model possibly be reliable and worth buying? They need a new product that will get them talked about again in a good way. The more people speak highly of them, the more people will buy them and bring their brand back up again. I think Rob Gallien has done that with the MB series combos, more on Talkbs than here, as it has made people aware of the brand and if they don't but one of those, there is a good chance they will look at their other ranges giving them more exposure for what was already a highly regarded, reliable brand that no one really spoke about that much despite having great products. hopefully enough people will buy this or one of their other newer models and have good enough experiences to start talking about them again
6. It looks messy if you know what I mean. There's no contrast between body and hardware and with the pattern of the wood it just looks a bit busy and takes a while to focus on the individual parts
7. Underneath the bit you press with your foot to engage the pedal there's probably a clip or screw(s) holding the switch to the top of the enclosure. If you take off the two screws at either side holding that bit being careful not to lose the washers and the order they came off in it'll make it easier to get to the switch I can't imagine it will be much different to this
8.
I agree with them not wanting people to promote or discuss other brands... But the issue with talking about problems is ridiculous. It'd make sense for them to stop people coming on just to say that their basses and guitars are a load of w***, but that's about it. Surely it'd look better for them on the whole if people could openly discuss and help eachother with any tech issues they may have, especially if employees of EBMM could jump in and offer advice, help out, whatever. Showing existing/potential customers that you are committed to good customer service when a problem arises is surely more beneficial to pretending there never are any problems?
Trouble is not everyone thinks the same, level headed, young, niave, or whatever to have the ability to post sensibly. You would really need to go in with a very thoughful post about any issues you were having so as to not offend anyone. A few years ago I was the kind of person to go straight in with all guns blazing but a few years more life experience and I'm a bit mellower these days. on a forum like this you can tell it the way it is as long as you're not doing it just to offend someone on here and from time to time reps from some manufacturers come in a give their opinion and help to the situation as its not their forum. The EBMM one is merely a fan club for EBMM fanboys and people looking for advice about what bass to buy or when theirs was made etc. Problems, issues or whatever belong on a more general forum like here or Talkbs but only after you have discussed them with the manufacturer/distributor/store/individual
9. How many miles to the gallon does it get?
10. Bugger. I've always wanted one of those but that's a bit far and a courier would be a no-no. Set of wheels and a steep enough hill and I could ride it home Anyone from Bristol planning an October holiday in Scotland?
11. Likewise. Sometimes when you do actually hear the original its kind of disappointing and you thought it would've been better
12. This might help but the story goes that David Gilmour wanted the bass to be long sustaining notes, whereas Rodger Waters wanted short sharp notes. In the end they couldn't decide so recorded both, got the tapes and physically cut them up so you get alternate sustaining and non-sustaining bass.
13. You normally have to push all the pots and connectors into the enclosure before it will lift off as you generally have things poking out of three sides which will stop the top coming off. Have you tried that? Alternatively
14. A quick update after last night's gig. After a last minute alteration of Seymour Duncan Stack for Single Coil P bass pickup and a set of 50 gauge Roto flats I went off to gig. I wasn't expecting blistering top end from a single coil precision with heavy flats but I was surprised how much it actually cut through and how much bottom end there was. In fact the bottom end was astounding. So much bass rumbling away.
15. I've replaced this with a SD Stack for single coil so have this for sale now. Good condition, couple of wee marks but nothing significant. Has 14cm of cable on the white and 16cm on the black. I can do this for £35 delivered to mainland UK
16. Thanks for that. I think the weight is pretty much the killer for me and what's going to make me decide on the GK amp 32kg vs. 15kg Think I'll pay the extra and get the GK combo
17.
About 150 years ago I seem to remember even name bands shambling on stage and proceeding to tune up in front of the audience, sometimes at length and with varying degrees of success depending on how drunk/stoned/tripping/mad the musicians were at the time.
I give in, I was trying to find you in the Guiness Book of records as the oldest living person but you name's not there. Do you go by any other names? I remember at 19 tuning up with the guitarist and everything was hunky dory then we got a keyboard player and suddenly we're both out of tune and it was awful
18. I'm 24 hours away from buying myself a Gallien Krueger MB210 combo and have seen something that might beat it. I normally use a Gallien 700RB II which I have just sold and was really looking for something lightweight and that is what drew my attention to the MB combo But, and I was told never to begin a sentence with but, Thomann are doing the BG500-210 combo for £419.05 which is a hell of a lot cheaper than I've seen it elsewhere. Gallien - £496, 350w on its own or 500w with another cab, 15kg, limiter, Gallien's own brand neo speakers TC - £419.05, 500w on its own and no facility to add another cab, 32kg, compressor, 3 user presets, tuner, Eminence neo I like a punchy tone, the ability to have something a bit dirty as well and I've read a lot of good things about these but its twice the weight of the Gallien. Is it twice the quality? I hate moments like this. just when I thought I had it all worked out something comes along that makes me think again.
19. This cab absolutely rocked last night with the single coil P bass. its capable of producing so much clean bottom end. lovely
20. Just took me 20 minutes to get onto the site - it was just giving me a gateway timeout error. going onto down for everyone or just me according to that it was down for everyone during this time. I've used that a few times when this has happened and its come back as the site being down I'm using Ghostery on Firefox to block facebook and other stuff and its not changed the speed of access for me. I actually really like this new version of the site and hope everything gets sorted out soon but there are always teething problems at the start.
21. MAybe if it was one of the first issues with the large Fender, small Squier logos but no
22. Since I sold my amp without the rack I can now offer this for sale here. Perfect condition.
