1.
I agree with them not wanting people to promote or discuss other brands... But the issue with talking about problems is ridiculous. It'd make sense for them to stop people coming on just to say that their basses and guitars are a load of w***, but that's about it. Surely it'd look better for them on the whole if people could openly discuss and help eachother with any tech issues they may have, especially if employees of EBMM could jump in and offer advice, help out, whatever. Showing existing/potential customers that you are committed to good customer service when a problem arises is surely more beneficial to pretending there never are any problems?
Trouble is not everyone thinks the same, level headed, young, niave, or whatever to have the ability to post sensibly. You would really need to go in with a very thoughful post about any issues you were having so as to not offend anyone. A few years ago I was the kind of person to go straight in with all guns blazing but a few years more life experience and I'm a bit mellower these days. on a forum like this you can tell it the way it is as long as you're not doing it just to offend someone on here and from time to time reps from some manufacturers come in a give their opinion and help to the situation as its not their forum. The EBMM one is merely a fan club for EBMM fanboys and people looking for advice about what bass to buy or when theirs was made etc. Problems, issues or whatever belong on a more general forum like here or Talkbs but only after you have discussed them with the manufacturer/distributor/store/individual
2. How many miles to the gallon does it get?
3. Bugger. I've always wanted one of those but that's a bit far and a courier would be a no-no. Set of wheels and a steep enough hill and I could ride it home Anyone from Bristol planning an October holiday in Scotland?
4. Likewise. Sometimes when you do actually hear the original its kind of disappointing and you thought it would've been better
5. This might help but the story goes that David Gilmour wanted the bass to be long sustaining notes, whereas Rodger Waters wanted short sharp notes. In the end they couldn't decide so recorded both, got the tapes and physically cut them up so you get alternate sustaining and non-sustaining bass.
6. You normally have to push all the pots and connectors into the enclosure before it will lift off as you generally have things poking out of three sides which will stop the top coming off. Have you tried that? Alternatively
7. A quick update after last night's gig. After a last minute alteration of Seymour Duncan Stack for Single Coil P bass pickup and a set of 50 gauge Roto flats I went off to gig. I wasn't expecting blistering top end from a single coil precision with heavy flats but I was surprised how much it actually cut through and how much bottom end there was. In fact the bottom end was astounding. So much bass rumbling away.
8. I've replaced this with a SD Stack for single coil so have this for sale now. Good condition, couple of wee marks but nothing significant. Has 14cm of cable on the white and 16cm on the black. I can do this for £35 delivered to mainland UK
9. Thanks for that. I think the weight is pretty much the killer for me and what's going to make me decide on the GK amp 32kg vs. 15kg Think I'll pay the extra and get the GK combo
10.
About 150 years ago I seem to remember even name bands shambling on stage and proceeding to tune up in front of the audience, sometimes at length and with varying degrees of success depending on how drunk/stoned/tripping/mad the musicians were at the time.
I give in, I was trying to find you in the Guiness Book of records as the oldest living person but you name's not there. Do you go by any other names? I remember at 19 tuning up with the guitarist and everything was hunky dory then we got a keyboard player and suddenly we're both out of tune and it was awful
11. I'm 24 hours away from buying myself a Gallien Krueger MB210 combo and have seen something that might beat it. I normally use a Gallien 700RB II which I have just sold and was really looking for something lightweight and that is what drew my attention to the MB combo But, and I was told never to begin a sentence with but, Thomann are doing the BG500-210 combo for £419.05 which is a hell of a lot cheaper than I've seen it elsewhere. Gallien - £496, 350w on its own or 500w with another cab, 15kg, limiter, Gallien's own brand neo speakers TC - £419.05, 500w on its own and no facility to add another cab, 32kg, compressor, 3 user presets, tuner, Eminence neo I like a punchy tone, the ability to have something a bit dirty as well and I've read a lot of good things about these but its twice the weight of the Gallien. Is it twice the quality? I hate moments like this. just when I thought I had it all worked out something comes along that makes me think again.
12. This cab absolutely rocked last night with the single coil P bass. its capable of producing so much clean bottom end. lovely
13. Just took me 20 minutes to get onto the site - it was just giving me a gateway timeout error. going onto down for everyone or just me according to that it was down for everyone during this time. I've used that a few times when this has happened and its come back as the site being down I'm using Ghostery on Firefox to block facebook and other stuff and its not changed the speed of access for me. I actually really like this new version of the site and hope everything gets sorted out soon but there are always teething problems at the start.
14. MAybe if it was one of the first issues with the large Fender, small Squier logos but no
15. Since I sold my amp without the rack I can now offer this for sale here. Perfect condition. They retail for £93.60 delivered from Soundslive where I bought it last year so I'll do it for £[s]60 [/s]54 delivered The amp is sold, only the rack is for sale
16. one of the most underrated basses of all time. I use mine every weekend It was the reason I had my Warmoth bass made with a mahogany body
17. That Tapco stuff is seriously underrated - I used to use a Tapco rackmount compressor and it was fantastic
18. I've got a nice hevay duty set of Rotosound RS77LE flatwounds on the way - 50-110 that I'll be tuning to concert pitch
19. As someone who cut their teeth playing in a big band at 17, having horn players makes a huge difference to the sound although with me it was usually 4 trumpets, 4 bones and 4 saxes
20.
As for the GK, well, when I first got it, I was worried that it wasn't going to be loud enough.... how wrong was I? That is one powerful, clear sounding combo. Even with a set of dying strings on my jazz bass, it still managed to cut through like nothing I've played through before. The bottom end is quite monstorous for a 2 x 10 and, at 16kg, will not break my back! And it looks sexy too... I am a happy bunny.
I've done a lot or reading up on these and that was the last piece of info I needed so it looks like its a go
21.
I didnt want to play bass, I wanted to be... A Lumberjack!!
I cut down trees I skip and jump I like to press wild flowers
