1. They've done pretty decent single coil precisions in the past for about £80 plus delivery, working out at about £120 delivered
2. That's one thing I would say about the Epiphone- As soon as i have set up my gear at a gig I get the bass out and onto the stand. Bearing in mind that it could be sitting there for the best part of an hour before I play it. I have mostly found myself adjusting the tuning for the first 3 or 4 songs of the night as it settles into the conditions. Probably due to having a very slim neck
3. Bought this for when I was looking at midying my bass but now surplus to requrements. A couple of marks but all works and uses a standard Boss power supply. I'm charging the battery in my camera at the moment so here's a generic piccy £12 posted to mainland UK
4. Bridge cover now sold pending Just the tuners left
5.
Is that a hipshot bridge? Do they make a big difference over the stock three point one?
Yes - The added mass improves the balance and if you believe it, the sustain. i personally do as it sustains for ages and that's with flatwound strings. the third thing is that its so much easier to adjust the height, intonation and even string spacing. They are expensive and you can generally only get them from the US. Not sure how the Euro is doing against the dollar but they're a tad cheaper now than they were a few months ago.
6. There's plenty online for helping you with your setup but the only person that can set it up exactly the way you want it is you
7. deary dear, check out the break angle of the D & G strings There's a reason some basses are rare
8. Guitarist I know plays a Les Paul into one of the combos. Fantastic sound he gets from his too. Plus they don't make them anymore, they make the 6505 or something which is similar but if you want the proper Eddie Van Halen model, this is it
9. Well that's helped me out. I got mine second hand and had no idea it had a trim pot inside. That'll save me mucking about with a volume pedal
10. that part of this conversation has been covered before recently - yes you can get a left handed piano
11. A small shed? Fence for dwarves? Bird cage?
12. Mine's the other way around. i was going to get a cheap volume pedal to reduce the level as its really loud compared to my clean signal

14. If you're going for something different you may as well go the whole hog

16. There's a big crack across the body on the last picture to the left. to be fair they have been steady at around £125 so the price of this one would reflect that. What I don't get are the jokers trying to sell them for more than they cost. They'll never be as popular as Fenders or Squiers and they aren't for everyone but I still love mine and even if my Warmoth becomes my number one bass, I'll never sell it - I'd get damn all for it
17. I've got something else on the way for it
18. I think that a lot of high Cs look like cheesewire. Just had a look at the conklin website and their Cs are 0.025 which is much too thin in my opinion and their F is 0.018. What you have is probably the thickest F you could get away with
19. Some Pink Floyd can be nice and relaxing to play. Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Sorrow, in fact most of their stuff is pretty easy going
20. Trading is the other way to go. Most people won't pay top money for them cos they're still effectively parts basses however you present them but you're more likely to get more for them through a trade
21. Depending on the exchange rate it can work out expensive. When I got mine the exchange rate was really good so I got what is IMHO a custom shop bass for second hand MIA Fender money. The quality and worksmanship is first rate and the choice is fantastic. Everything fits together perfectly. I'vre just priced up what mine would cost new to have built today and before shipping it comes in at $1008 minus the Warwick JAN III nut. At the time that was around the £500 plus shipping which may have been around £100 by UPS. Where else would you get sparkly gold, mahogany body, wenge neck, ebony fretboard and gold frets in '54 P bass form? Since I got mine, they now offer a slimmer neck and graphite rods.
22. cool. thanks for the confirmation. One thing I like about it is if the neck gets funky and slow, a quick pass with 000 grade steel wool has it lovely and slippery again
23. I'm selling off more of my bits that I'm never going to use. Bass related bits that is, I still have a use for my other bits First is a set of locking machineheads that I never got round to fitting. They look like Schaller M4 fitment and come with all screws, washers and bushings. Brand new and unused. No idea where I got them from or who makes them so £15 posted
24. According to Wikipedia it was a 6 string bass played by George. I'd take a guess that it'd be a Fender Bass VI as they were more available than the Rickenbacker 4005/6 or Gibson EB6
