Bought a compressor pedal from Lozz the day he went on holiday. He still managed to get someone else to post it to me so it arrived a couple of days later. Well impressed

I love it when you're playing a gig and your sound is spot on, the rest of the band are on form and everything you play is nailed perfectly. I love adding bits in and if I find myself in a moment trying to play something that I'm not sure if I can do it and it comes off perfectly then that really fires me up - one of these gigs where you can do no wrong - regardless of what you play it comes out perfectly
Well, I picked up the headless chicken last night and was pleased to find that the neck is still playable right to the first fret on all strings. I wonder if my steaming and clamping has stuck this time. It's been a month. Even though I've got a direct replacement neck should things go awry, I think I'll go ahead with the one that I've steamed. Worst case scenario is that the neck springs back while it's off the bass and having no string tension on it while I work on the body. Things to do - deepen the neck pocket by a few mm (everything's a little proud, pickups jacked up, bridge saddles about as far up as they'll go, can fly a 747 under the strings at the neck heel ), then get to work on making things more comfy at the dusty end. Test that stuff, then make the recesses for the neck screw bushings, followed by finishing (which is not my strong suit, but I'll give it a go). Also getting rid of the head on the pickguard logo is proving trickier than I first thought. I have another plan, which is permanent, but I don't know how invisible it's going to be. Need a scrap of BWB pickguard material to test on - anyone got some?
I tried removing the goth logo on mine by lightly using a Stanley blade but it ended up all scratched. That's why I did this with sticker paper
The plug is not an issue they all have an icc (iee?) or 'kettle plug' style socket as most of us call them so you just use a local version where ever you are.
nearly, its an IEC

I've had it tuned up a semi tone this afternoon and it definitely looks like higher gauge strings will do the trick so I have a set of the Steve Harris gauge roto flats on the way. They're not his exact strings but the RS77LE as opposed to the SH77 saving me £2.50. I did say I wasn't putting flats on this but I just can't help myself. i thnk that's me finished with rounds for a long while at least. That video certainly was interesting. the guy reminded me of Chris ( Thornybank ) the way he would say stuff and it would sound funny

From what i can remember, they were made for a couple of years around 1999 - 2001 so its already 10 years old. They seem to be pretty well specced and Laney has 'forgotten' to mention the weight in the instruction manual but its likely to be heavy. You'll be paying shop prices for it, does it come with any kind of warranty, even 3 months, if not then you'd be as well getting something in a private sale.

No idea what the cheese refers to but this is a cracking double neck but very cheeky as the necks both have Fender decals on them

I'm trying to set up my warmoth neck and was about to loosen off the truss rod as it has a bit of a backbow to discover that its already as loose as it can go. I've got three options: 1 - get another neck 2 - have someone remove the frets, plane the fretboard flat and refit the frets 3 - get heavier gauge strings The warmoth neck has 2 steel rods inside as well as the truss rod (which isn't doing anything in this case) Would getting heavier gauge strings move the neck enough to create some relief? At the moment I've got the just-a-nut raised quite a bit and the saddles are pretty high as well I want to use rounds on this so was thinking about either Power Slinkies or D'Addarrio EXL165 (or 160) Any ideas if this will work?
I have an Epiphone Pro IV. Absolutely love it, the only reason why I won't play it in public is because it says Epiphone on the headstock. And yes, I know, I should be ashamed for being such a snob
Ta da - just a shame that you can't do that as the Epiphone logo on the pro is printed right onto the headstock

More new Fender models - The 'Modern Player' Series
I wonder if this is Fender slowly removing the Squier range and replacing it with all Fenders since we already have the Cheapy nasty Fender Starcaster Jazz junk.
Apparently they have already done away with the Squier acoustic bass. With all the new models that Squier have been producing, not to mention the quality, has this been a test bed for things to come? Another thought; At £400, this is just £100 less then a MIM standard bass so are they going to discontinue MIIM basses or or wait until this range takes a foothold before bumping up the prices of the MIM basses? Do fender really need to have MIA, CIJ, MIM and MIC when a lot of other manufacturers only have MIA and another facility somewhere in the far east? MIA for the top end stuff, CIJ for the next layer down (although arguably better than MIA anyway) and MIC for the entry level Fenders (which will still be bloody good if previous MIC stuff is anything to go by) -
I've aways wanted one of those big bright orange semi-acoustic basses but they're about 2000 clams and I've never seen one close up before

glad its not just me. Yes its very slow today but it has been quite quick at other times Another thing I've noticed is that when I edit a post of mine I get the edited version with the original right below it in the same post so effectively the post twice but when i go back out and then click on the thread the post appears normal
Haven't Fender tried a few changes on the basic shape and have basically failed? I mean like the cow poke, the Slim one (Canny mind it's name) and the aerodyne. Okay all just variations to various extremes on a theme but then arent the majority of basses just variations on the P or J shape? Unless you go for mega pointy, T-Bird or Rick shapes.
Would that by the Lyte? people who buy Fenders want a Fender. if its too outlandish then they won't buy it, they want traditional, zillions of versions of the same bass and 25 different layers from Starcaster Argos special to made like they have been played in a social club for 60 years -
A complete guess but maybe a trial for the Sterling by Musicman range?
i think that most players want what Fender used to produce.
What, Hawaiian steel guitars? -
It think Fender Fender's design team is a bloke with a few buckets containing bits of card that say things like "jazz pickups".
That sounds like a larf: Precision Body Mustang Neck Mudbucker at the neck Double Precision pickups in the middle and bridge positions We can call it the Fender Shortarse Motherbucker Classic Modified Vintage Closet Precisitang © Then people would say, if only it came in bile orange or phlehm yellow with mother of toilet seat scratchplate I'd be all over it. That's why Fender make 100 squillion different versions of the same basic basses -
