1. Normally on a painted surface rubbing compund will make it really dull. Its used mainly on cars and stuff but I've used it to get rid of small scratches in basses before - just don;t rub too hard or you'll take it back to the wood I use silicon free car polish to polish my painted basses
2. I did my back in a couple of years ago. Went to the doctor and was told to rest. Later found out that I should've been told to rest initially then to do certain exercises so as a result it took ages to get better. Luckily the guys lifted all the stuff into the gig and its amazing how light those Squier Mudbucker Precisions are
3. He might get mistaken for Jasper Carrot but damn I want to learn some of those moves

5. I would love this. These are incredible combos. My first proper setup was a Trace 2x10" combo with 4x10" cab. Oh my.
6. The 2050, or El Dorado to give it its proper name, comes from the lesser known 2000 series. For those that don't know what this model is it has gold Schaller hardware, Bound body. People have referred to them as active as they have a circuit board in the large rear cavity but I don't think they had a battery. They were budget basses designed to take the place of the 3000 series but never really caught on. A white one sold in the US for $1099 last month which works out at £692

8. A small selection of some the gems I have had over the years. 4, 5, 6, 8 and 12vers and fretless
9. How about the cheap and cheerful Grolsch washers?
10. How about midi files? You can add or take away anything. They'll not have the vocals on them right enough
11. I just need to put my Thunderbird on its stand next to where I sit in front of the computer to remind me that there ain't anything that I'd rather have. Its 11 months since I bought it and probably about 10-15 basses have gone through my hands in that time simply because I wanted them, got them, realised I was perfectly happy with what I had and then sold them.
12. And one dull picture and £50 postage and so on
13. I can't actually remember the last time I was in a music shop. I think one of, if not the biggest problem with music shops is that they generally (not always) employ musicians. I mean, would a furniture shop employ someone who enjoys sitting on the couch or lying in bed? No, they employ sales people to sell what they have. Yes, you need to know about what you are selling but you can get to grips with most terms and information in a short space of time. You don't really need to be able to play to any great standard to work in a music shop. As long as you can plug it in, make sure its working and then hand the instrument over to the prospective buyer then that's all the hand-on knowledge you really need. That's all I ever wanted when I was going into a music shop, not a slap bass solo for 45 minutes- - which is bound to be intimidating for any youngster who hasn't been playing long. I never knew the difference between LCD and plasma a few years ago yet within a few months of working for a high street retailer, I was the manager.
14. Print your own? I've bought stuff from them before. In fact my 'white' thunderbird scratchplate is my original black one with their sticker paper with the Gibson eagle printed onto it.
15. I really, really don't want to have to sell this but I'm skint at the moment. Going by the serial number this is a March 1995 made in Korea non-reverse Thunderbird 5 string. It is in amazing condition for a 16 year old bass and has obviously been well looked after. These basses were only made for a few years between 1995 and 1998 from what I've read making this one of the earlier ones. The 'C' at the start of the serial number would indicate that this was made in the Cort factory before production moved to Samick later the same year. Epiphone did the same with these as Yamaha did with the BB3000 and BB5000 series as it looks like this is a 4 string neck making it a really comfortable transition from 4 to 5 strings. String spacing at the bridge is 16mm so although it's narrower than usual its still wide enough to be very playable. There are some surface indentations on the body both front and back from use but there doesn't appear to be anything that's through to the wood. You have to look closely to see these marks and hold it up to the light. There's the tiniest of chips on the body nearest the bottom of the heel of the neck but it looks more like the laquer has chipped rather than going right through to the wood. It doesn't actually say Epiphone or Thunderbird anywhere on the bass other than on the neck plate. Only the Truss Rod cover has the big Epiphone 'E' to indicate what it is. For some reason my camera makes this look like a normal 3 tone sunburst but in reality its more of a tobacco burst. I'm looking for cash for this and don't plan to have this up for sale for long as I am very likely to change my mind. ON HOLD
16. Brand new and ungigged. I thought I'd get myself one of these as I'd been after one for ages but I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a distortion/overdrive kind of guy Unlike the Boss copy pedals this is from the range that are in proper metal housings so they're far more sturdy. Designed for guitar and bass it features a master volume, drive and separate treble, mid & bass EQ. It comes in its box with intructions and power supply. It has a valve in it as well for that snake oil charm. It goes from mild overdrive to heavy distortion and contains a 12AX7 valve which you could substitute for something else if you want less or more headroom prior to it distorting. This is already a fantastic overdrive pedal but there is a mod available to make it even better involving installing a couple of components It is a really good pedal but when I first started looking at these I was in a different place musically and now that I've got one and love it I cannot find a single use for it in my current bands so there's a bargain to be had here.
17. We did the headline slot of the last day of the Scottish Beatles weekend a few weeks ago and we were on at 9pm as it was seen as the best slot. I think there were one or two bands on after us but it started emptying a bit after we finished.

19. I've no experience with the cabs but Gallien Krueger are amongst the most reliable out there. Dead easy to get a good sound as well. You might not need the 1001. I've been using a 700 for everything from small to medium pub gigs with no pa support to bigger events and its never been even remotely pushed. For practicing just get yourself a Vox Amplug which has an aux in for connecting an MP3 player or whatever or even a small amp with aux in and headphone jack.
20. I would have this cab in a minute but I would need to sell my Epiphone non-reverse 5 string Thunderbird Since its boxed would you be up for it being couriered?
21. Sounds like you need to practice. I wouldn't ever say that the Stingray 5 had narrow string spacing. Start off slowly and you might be able to see what you are doing wrong.
