1. I was wondering when they'd do an obvious crossover product (ie they own both brands)- Fender Precision with a souped up pickup from a Gretsch I'd have to agree that its purely about the name on the headstock and that there's only 30 being made. I could pull a better idea out of my arse for a fraction of the price. How about the SWR Interstellar Overdrive preamp combined with the Fender PS400 output section?
2. As far as I know only the Goth and the NIkki Sixx have the narrower jazz width neck as they begin life as the same bass. They are also the only 2 mahogany bodied thunderbirds made, all the others are alder. EMG 35HZ pickups will fit straight in there but you will need to route if you want anything active as the bass is quite thin at the point where it is routed for electronics. I struggled to get a set of CTS pots in there.
3. Back up for sale cos I am officially skint. Feel free to make an offer or a trade, its just sitting on a stand in a corner of the livingroom
4. I thought they were dire. I obviously didn't know as many Maiden songs as i thought I did and after a while they all ended up sounding the same. We would've left after they played The Trooper if there hadn't been another guy with us who was really into them. Spoke to a guitarist I'm doing a gig with shortly last week and he agreed that they weren't very good I heard that Bruce can't get the high notes in Run to The Hills anymore and I was disappointed that they didn't do Phantom of the Opera. I know that it was D'ianno but its still a popular Maiden song
5. Either: 1 - we're a small percentage of the bass playing community, or 2 - It doesn't matter that you play as long as you sound decent, or 3 - most people would rather concentrate on playing than spending all their free time on a bass forum, useful and helpful though it is
6. Not available for international orders unfortunately though so that should ensure that they definitely will not be made. Once ordered you need to call up to pay your deposit - they could always leave the phone off the hook Cynical aren't I?
7. I always fancied this one
8. I keep coming back to this thread. I very rarely look at something as mudane as an amp or a cab and think about how good it looks but, damn that does look really good. I said it earlier but I would have it in a minute, even if I only ended up using it in the house.
9. Unfortunately the answer is not as much as they should be worth parker_muse has been trying to sell his early original GP7 4x10" combo for yonks now and has reduced it down to stupid money here I managed to sell my 1110 which was the 4x10" version of yours for £360 a couple of years ago but I think I was lucky to have someone looking for exactly what I was selling at the right price. You used to be able to take your combo to Trace and they would add a speaker out jack to it so that you could run it with a second cab. Mine had that, a preamp out and a poweramp in or something like that. This was mine: I think yours looks fantastic and would have it in a minute.
10.
My guess : 4200 £.... (not that I will be bidding)
With 9 days to go I reckon it will go for more than £5000 - There are people who don't play but collect music memorabilia. Maggie Thatcher's handbag went for £20000 and she was the spawn of Beelzebub so imagine how much this will go for
11. Abandon ship. Thanks for the info but I think I'm going to stick with my truty Roto flats
12. Isn't that one of those mental old 8x10" Trace Combos in the background?
13. Complete with 25 hi res pics that look like they were taken in a cave - I can't make out any detail on those. Simply changing the contrast a bit would make them look better. But, yes, I mean no. Just no. They are rare but that's minty 51' Precision money plus change surely?
14. Wow, and only £12.05 more than a new one from Thomann We're getting there - try £60-80 plus postage
15. I had a teal 4 string with rosewood board and white scratchplate and it looked awful but the combination of the colour, the larger black scratchplate and the maple look amazing. If I had the Doddies I'd be having that.
16.
Starts July 1st - wonder if these early entries will count?
Read the T&Cs. They do not count until 1st of July so if you;ve already registered then you'll get hee haw apart from emailes every other day from Boss
17.
Sorry to push the question... I need to know as I don't want an amp that has a fan running all the time as the noise drives me made at low rehearsal volumes. Thanks.
You could go to the Laney website yourself or even email them. They're pretty quick at getting back to you
18. DON'T GO TO THE POST OFFICE There we go. Any bass I have posted or received from the US has been shipped with the neck off with the exception of my 20th Anniversary Stingray The main ones I use are Parcelmonkey and Interparcel depending on the weight or size. I do it that often that i don't even think about it now. Again, check the terms for the insurance as others have said, they're quick enough to offer you it (and in the case of Parcelmonkey you HAVE to take it or it doesn;t let you place the order) Just clicked on the Transglobal Express advert at the bottom of the page and got a quote based on rough sizes of 130cm x 40cm x 20cm of £68
19. Another one of those bass players I largely ignored until I matured as a musician (is that possible? ) and only more recently discovered how great he actually was
20. If you go to websites like Schaller etc they will have a diagram showing the back plate of the tuner's footprint with dimensions. You may struggle to get something exactly the same as what you have now though
21. And a shot showing the cab with my amp to give an idea of the size. I particularly like using the cab on its end with the amp on top. The amp fits perfectly there.
22. Or its a case of they don't make them there any more so those ones are the best and worth more now.
23. Al Healey was kind enough to PM me a link to this diagram I've never wired a speakon before so don't know how this would translate to that from 1.4" jacks
24.
I use the Korg DT-10. Excellent for live tuning (with a mute option) although I'm not sure whether its true bypass.
I've had one of these now for yonks. I keep it off my pedalboard as I don't always need to use pedals depending on the gig
25. I shall reveal all soon.
