Bass V

That's one of the basses I have on my list that I'd still love to own
2. Fleabay are cheapest - you can get them from the Bass Parts Resource but they're more expensive
3. It depends if you plan on keeping the '51 long term. they are now discontinued so prices are on the rise. modifying one would drop the value. Have you considered getting a regular P and doing it? Something along the lines of a mex or even going for one of the Squier vintage 50s things the same shape as what you already have.
4. I wonder what the chances of it being produced in the Sterling line are of if it proves popular enough? You could always ask the question on the EBMM forum
5. i was out on the sauce last night and fell on my arse several times. I managed to get 2 small but stinging cuts right on the tip of my left hand middle finger. Luckily I don;t have any gigs until the end of next month
6. Teaching Jamerson? I never heard of the fellow until I was 19. As long as you're learning that's the main thing
7. Looks like it is Acoustic / Electric as opposed to being an S in the middle very similar to the HMT Bass
8. They normally put them up before they get them in. That should disappoint all of those that bought them first time round to make a profit (not saying that anyone on here did it but people must have done) They had the Pelham Blue EB-0 in stock when I ordered mine
9. Holy Jebus, it gets worse here Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes right to the bone - if something modelled on the USS Enterprise takes your fancy then knock yourself out And that's coming from someone with a Thunderbird and an Explorer
10. An invaluable website when you are looking for info like this http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/FretSize.aspx
11. its back
12. You could also get an even better Hipshot Supertone bridge for about half that but I'm sure I've seen the genuine gibson ones going for about £70 new
13. I could not be arsed with it all tonight but got to sing Hotel California and walk away with a suitcase full of money for my efforts. Ok not quite a suitcase but a decent amount of cash for minimal efforts. Cannae be arsed with this time of year, everything seems to stop and go tits for arse
14. Have you had a chance to try these out yet? I've just treated myself to a 6er and realised that rotosound don't seem to do a 6 string flatwound set. Well they do if you buy a 5 string et and a high C but they're a bit pricey for such a cheap bass
15. I'm still loving my Laney NX115. Setup the gear this morning for tonight's gig and it never ceases to amaze me how good it sounds. I'd even say that the combination of 700RB II, Goth Thunderbird with flats and EMG HZ / Wilkinson soapbars and this cab is without a doubt the best sound I have ever had
16. We've always booked our holidays at the same time each year for the past 14 years. Only had to replace the keyboard player twice in that time, guitarist 3 times and the odd drummer (well they are odd) I've only failed to make one gig in all that time and it was Allan Longmuir from the Bay City rollers that replaced me that night.
17.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Hercos yet! 24 years of my Dunlop 0.73s getting furry edges and I fancied a change, then kicked myself for not going to Hercos earlier. I won't use anything else now, looks like Chris Squire was right all along.
i tried using picks for years but could never get to grips with them, literally. Being a huge Yes fan, i decided to try Chris' preferred pick. I'm still predomenantly a fingers player but my pick playing has come on leaps and bounds since I began using them. So much so that I keep a big bag of them in my gig bag so I don't run out but they seem to last forever so they'll probably do if I ever lose one
18. Surely its some kind of lightweight, compact soul, no? Where's me washoard, I mean coat.
19. Try Crafter Cruiser bass. Grafter FFS
20. Aren't hex core strings a bit stiffer? Ooooooh Matron Never tried them personally but remember reading something like this on the DR website as they do both as well.
21. Right, so what were you really looking for then? I did a similar thing a couple of years ago when I won a Vox Super Foundation 2x15" with no speakers for £91. I was going to buy drivers for it and had them all specced after using WinISD but then decided to fire it on Ebay to see what it would go for. £360 was the answer. Probably not the best time of year to do that but do your homework and you could get a good price if you can attract the right buyer.
22. I did a review of my Laney Nexus NX115 a few days ago. Have a read if you get the chance. I still can't believe how cheap they are. UK made and designed, Celestion Neo driver and ply construction. All for £237
23. Hmm, I wonder which shop it was. My biggest purchase from either of them has been strings when I was in a hurry for them.
24.
I'm the same, the singer will shout the next song to me and I have to wait until I am at a comfortable bit before I shout it to the drummer. If someone comes up and talks to me I can't talk back or I start making loads of mistakes. BUT - I can sing most of Sting's stuff, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Hotel California is my party piece. Comfortably Numb was the first song I ever learned to play and sing at the same time. My band plays a hotel every December for the Christmas -party nights. last year they invited us to their staff party. At one point I was going to the toilet when the guy with the karaoke asked me what I wanted to sing "Hotel California" was the reply. It was the first time I had ever sang in public and after that you couldn't get me away from the mic. Still sh*te myself when I know I am singing. My wife wants me to sing Hotel California at Hogmanay and I will but I'm still sh*teing it. I cannot cope with harmonies - I can only hear the lead vocal so its that or nothing
