Gigbag to fit bass, head and leads - cheap!
Delberthot replied to lemmywinks's topic in Accessories and Misc
Been using a Warwick Rockbag crosswalker for years now. Has a detachable rucksack -
You want a Cort GB74 The first thing that came into my mind when you said Musicmanish for your budget. You would need to be looking secondhand though Or a Cort Curbow

As a current owner of a MIK Epiphone Thunderbird Goth, I find these basses to be very good. The combination of mahogany body and super slim neck with minimal taper suits me perfectly. A very comfortable instrument to play. Being bolt on, its the only one out of them all that allows you to move the strap button to the front of the heel to improve the balance. The reason that there is lots of choice is that not everyone wants the same thing so what you may dislike, another person may buy because they like the feature(s) you dislike. As I say, I am very happy with mine but may give a Tokai TB48 a try
Delberthot - the 1999 and 4001S models were one and the same, 1999 being Rose Morris' designation for them.
I did know that, I was just referring to the 4003S advertised. the 1999 having the proper horseshoe pickup that later models didn't as well. My 4000 was set neck and had the neck pickup rout

I just use a regular stand with my Thunderbird and its still totally secure - its one of these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_gitarre...f47fd2a2a5ab5e8 I must've had mine about 5 years and its still as good as the day I bought it. Not bad for less than a fiver

Right, now that I am bit more compus mentus than i was last night. Most of these are set neck but there are some that are neck through. The main differences are no sharkfin inlays, no binding on neck or body. This also means that they are able to contour the body, so if you find the square edge on the regular models uncomfortable then this is your answer. Although these are mono output. most people don't use the rick o sound anyway but I'm sure that Chris Squire had his bass modified to output in stereo. Plus these look more like the RM1999 That Chris Squire uses There is also the 4000 model which only had the bridge pickup but is very often still routed for the neck one. Both basses have been discontinued for quite some time now.

Amplifier trolleys - your suggestions
Delberthot replied to sockdeluxe_mikey's topic in General Discussion
I avoided the ones where the wheels fold in as well as invariably they can do that while you are transporting your gear. I have something similar but with wheels that don't fold in, telescopic handle and fold down footplate -
I am very drunk - this looks like a 4003s, set neck etc etc
-
That's the first time I've seen that Ebay ad - today I think there's abiout 2 or 3 threads already about it
-
Another reason is that they work in an area that cannot take the time off during the christmas period eg Hotels, Restaurants etc
-
So is he saying the bass is 20 years old or his friend is?

SOLD:Cheapest Bass on BassChat? Cheapo Jap-Crap for sale
Delberthot replied to Moos3h's topic in Basses For Sale
I bought this for buttons, and then bought new machineheads, scratchplate, electronics and strings for it. The scratchplate does not fit well, and neither did the previous one but that's part of the project fun! It's secure, but quite heath robinson!
So did buttons not like it then? -
On Ebay they are coming in at £29 a set and DRs are £31 a set. At that difference I'd chose the DRs every time. If you want cheap then how about these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COLORFUL-ELECTRIC-BA...=item588b5ec30b Less than £12 delivered if you use buy it now

The Trooper by Iron Maiden is simple in theory as its only 4 notes most of the way through, G E D & C, you just need to get your right hand moving with those triplets If you're looking for something slower then Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is quite straightforward A lot of AC/DC is straight root notes, how about Let There be Rock? Saxon, Ride Like the Wind UFO, Doctor Doctor Free, Wishing Well Thin Lizzy, Don't Believe a Word If you're looking for something a bit more modern. I'm trying to get the band to do Saturday Superhouse by Biffy Clyro

A big +1 on the waitresses. The best bass line for me and I have to agree that its slightly annoying. When it was still acceptable, Paul Gadd's Christmas song was good fun to play

Best present I have ever received was my Leatherman Wave. I use it every day and it lives in my gig bag

Small neat pedal board/bag for 3 small pedals
Delberthot replied to Clarky's topic in Accessories and Misc
I bought mine from Flightcase Warehouse through Ebay. Really cheap and will hold 4 Boss size pedals. Can't see any listed for sale at the moment This is the only pic I have of it with 3 Boss and my Korg DT10 tuner I've just had a look back at my feedback and it was £14.99 plus delivery. They may have more, it was listed as "Pedalboard Case Small" -
Even fewer demos are done with a plectrum.
You've obviously never been in the market for either a Violin bass, Thunderbird or Explorer. PITA trying to find demos of these basses played fingerstyle Totally agree about the slap thing on demos. Personally I find that it sounds pretty much the same regardless of what bass you play so its not really fitting when you are trying to extole the virtues of the bass you are demoing.

If you practice, change strings or setup your bass in front of the computer and your tuner is either downstairs or stored in the band's van/lockup then I find this very useful: http://www.gieson.com/Library/projects/utilities/tuner/

I had one there on my first '51 reissue P bass for an entirely different reason - I had recently gone from playing 5s and 6s for the past 10-15 years back to 4 and I missed the feeling of having the B string to stop my fingers so I put one there for that reason, just so my fingers would hit against it when I played on the E string
It's a perennial topic, but we don't seem to have a place for pointing each other in the direction of software we have found particularly useful. Just to see if others find this useful, here's a brief heads-up on THE AMAZING SLOW DOWNER You can download ASD from the InterNet ( http://www.ronimusic.com/ ) as a free demo, which will give you (IIRC) full functionality but only let you play the first 30 seconds of each track. For about $50 you can buy the product. I consider it one of the better $50 purchases I've made. I use it to: * slow down tracks, or bits of tracks, where I can't work out what the bassist is playing at full speed. * loop tricky bits of tracks so that I can play them again & again. * change the pitch of tracks which have either been Vari-speeded or which are in awkward keys (e.g. Eb to E). * change the key of tracks which I want to sing but which are outside my range in their original key. * minimise the low frequencies on the track so that I can play along without being distracted by the original bassline. All these changes can be made 'on the fly' and in real time. There's no need to "re-process" the file after each change. Once you have the settings you want for a track, you can save it (separately from the original, of course) with those settings and come back to it later. Just about the only gripe I have with ASD is that it won't save files in mp3 format, only as WAV. If Roni Music could somehow combine this with an mp3 editor, they'd have an absolute killer product on their hands. Despite being priced in $ the product is actually Scandinavian (Danish, I think). Despite the low price, on both occasions when I've needed support I've had immediate and very helpful responses. Highly recommended.
I use Best Practice for this. Its free and appears to do everything your one does except from removing the low frequencies - you can change the pitch, tuning if what you are listening to isn;t quite to pitch without having to retune the bass to compensate, change the speed and loop. You just adjust any parameter you need to and it does it almost right away

I came to the conclusion years ago that unless you are playing songs that require slap then there is little need for it. I may add a little slap or pop here and there but never really found any use for it. Recently began learning to play using a pick. It was something that I'd never really stuck at before but I'm finding it increasingly useful for quite a lot of songs we play Tried my hand at 2 handed tapping but find myself in a similar position to that of slap, ie limited potential to use it. The latest thing I am learning is Steve Harris triplets. I had absolutely no idea how much of a monster player he was until I started listening to Maiden properly. Still using my own technique to execute it though, looks far to uncomfortable to play it like him. I'd like to learn to play like Sting with the thumb and index finger. Don't know why, it just looks cool.
