1. I went through a phase of trying to sound like my favourite bass players so I had the Stingray 5 string and Modulus Flea to sound like flea, the Ricks to sound like Chris Squire, several Stingrays to sound like Bernard Edwards and 1980ish John Deacon, several precisions to sound like John Deacon. The common thing between all of these basses is that I sounded damn all like any of them, In fact I sounded most like Chris Squire with an Epiphone EB-3. I eventually gave up and now sound exactly like me which at the minute is quite aggresive, bridge pickup and Roto flats
2. Barracuda you say? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNz2VhCJ3B0...feature=related
3. so not a trade for a Gallien Krueger 700RB II then?
4. She Bangs the Drums by the Stone Roses, Disco Inferno by the Trammps
5. I thought that first picture was of the moon with a silver sticker on it at first I think all Trace 4x10"s are 8ohms. It will be 200w RMS, max is normally quoted as double that by some manufacturers
6. What are you thinking about getting in its place? I have a hankering for another Terror Bass
7. That's some practice setup I've gone and done it. I have the last one in stock in the warehouse at Digital Village set aside for me to pay for next week.
8. Ooh I get it - they're trying to do the same to the Squier brand as Fender already do - have 10 squillion versions of the same bass
9. like Stanley Clarke and Steve Gadd? - oh yes
10. Does this belong to anyone on here? http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/01/68684101.html
11.
I wouldn't like to be in that band if they're playing around Glasgow or west central Scotland.
my sediments exactly Someone hit the nail on the head earlier. Its much more than just a case of buying and selling like Egay and Ebygumtree. Its a place where you can get to know people, have a laugh, have a debate, get pi**ed. In reality, its everything you'd do in real life. I've yet to go down the pub with a 'chatter' but then that's what the Moffat bassbash is for.
12. is there such a thing as 'best'? Its all down to what you like and if you think its amazing then I am genuinly happy for you cos its likely that listening to it may very well improve your own playing. That is when you're not changing your avatar every 5 minutes I have deja vu cos what I am about to type next I'm sure I've already posted but - what we hear of all of these virtuosos is the widdly boring stuff on youtube. You never hear the meat and potatoes lines that these musicians play regularly which makes a lot of people think that these guys are widdly frustrated guitarists
13. I remember gigging one of those 2 Cool 4 School basses from the seller of the same name on Ebay in the US. I only had EB Power Slinkies so I put them on before the gig. When I took the bass out of the bag the neck was like a banana. Amazingly, I was able to adjust the truss rod enough to get it straight again without it trying to appear through the back of the neck I think they're £40 or something like that. this was way before those £52 NU something or other ones on UK Ebay. In fact it was when I was waiting for my gold Warmoth to come from the US If it can be adjusted, it can be gigged.
14. I start and stop during random parts of songs and often tap my foot on the off beat. I've even been known to do a heel - toe tap as well although that's usually well into a gig when my dogs are barking
15. The only instance when you may need something else is if your bass is rear routed but you can buy prewired EMG pots with longer shafts if need be.
16. I've fitted wheels to almost every cab I've owned and never had them fail on me. There's no point in the screw being longer than the thickness of the wood that you are screwing into. Just use the appropriate one for the type of wood and I find the widest, coarsest thread, the better. the downside as pointed out above is that it adds extra weight. I now use a lightweight trolley for all my stuff now. Anything to keep the weight down
17. If you go to page 3 and look at the picture of the inputs at the right hand side it says Made and designed in the UK. Looks like the entire range is as well. 18. I'm not even going to try and add up what I've bought, sold or traded since I joined. Its a lot anyway. I love these threads. laughs aplenty. but remember kids a troll is not just for christmas
19. You rely on what? Bye? Was it something we said?
20.
Imagein a 7 string each string a different colour!
What, like this only neon?
21. at the opposite end of the price scale, my Washburn XB126 which was my first 6 string was very light I managed to pick it up new as an end of line item from Dolphin for £120
22. Once I get the payment for the cab I have just sold I'm going to be buying one of these. I have the Christmas party nights coming up so I'll probably post here when I get it, after the first gig and at the beginning of next year once I have done a few and the honeymoon period is over. If Its as good as it sounds on paper then I'll be buying a second at that point, if not then offers please
23.
Did you win them?!
my first thought as well but I don;t think it gets drawn until January or something like that I'm still in with a chance
