1. well that was my plan as well. Use 1 as a monitor for the wedding band and have a second one to use with the rock band. They've been getting some good reviews on Talkbs but they ain't for the hifi mob apparently. Meant to sound really rocky and aggressive which suits me down to the ground. Thought I'd check here first before going for it.
2. just to clarify that none of the above was directed at me
3. going to bump this as I am contemplating this cab as well ply constuction and Celestion neo driver for £237
4. I've been using two of these as a monitor in my wedding band - its big and its clever
5.
I've got to say that trying it out triggered all this process of getting rid of cabs I don't really like anymore. Surprisingly, I still have the cheapo ashdown 4x10 and actually like it!
All the more reason to get a second one Actually, I was amazed at how good they are.
6. I've got a matching Mag 410" for sale - its a perfect match and a maneuverable 8x10" rig
7. Wenge is very fast to play and when it gets gunky you just run some steel wool up and down it and its really smooth again I had a wenge neck on my gold Warmoth
8. Maybe the price includes first class air fare for the seller to personally hand deliver it to the new owner and the £30 is to cover his lunch?
9. £1? If this amp had TC Electronic or whatever the flavour of the month is then it would've gone ages ago. GK have been making quality amps since the late 60s for working musicians at a realistic price.
10. amazing basses, such a fantastic sound from these. er, your bridge cover is on the wrong way though
11. I've come to my senses and realised that selling my GK head would be really silly cos I know I'd be looking for another one in a few months anyway so its withdrawn but the cab is still available.
12. I've been thinking about something like this http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-PV-12M-...186-i1153009.gc I only use my cab as a monitor anyway so it may or may not be a good idea to actually just buy a monitor that can handle bass. Whether this can or cannot I'm not sure but I'm still looking
13. The 2x12" cab is on my list of possibles so would be interesting to hear any first hand issues. I've done a lot of reading over on Talkbass and didn't hear anything bad but it seems everyone there plays in some kind of praise and worship band which I can't imagine gets very loud
14.
Worse now - ta! The neck dive shouldn't a problem for me - Its easy enough to move the strap button like I did on my alpine white epibird which made it balance perfectly.
Ha, exactly where I put the strap button on mine. 3 things I can think of: Its not going to sound like a thunderbird but neither does a Gibson cos the pickups are different to the originals, only a set of Mike Lulls will get you close, plus its active and no T-Bird has ever been active. The strap button is already on the back, probably as far forward as you can get it so you can't do the same mod that we've both done. The neck heel is curved so there isn't a flat surface to put it. Also reading into them, a lot of users have complained about the frets being susceptible to premature wear. And one last personal thing, I think the extra tuner on the bottom looks wrong, I wish they had been able to put all 5 on the top but that would've meant an extended headstock which would've made the balance even worse. All annoying as I too had been thinking about getting one for a while.
15. about 30 odd between wedding band, rock band and depping with other bands. Still not enough. There have been quite a few quiet spells. Only about 20 odd last year and about 20 confirmed for next year for the wedding band. We're going to be doing a lot more promoting next year, updating the website so we don;t look like a country and western band. We've been lucky in that all gigs are either people seeing the website or being at gigs we've done. The quiet times are the dangerous times for me cos that's when I forget how good my gear sounds and start looking for something else.
16. I've used a Giraffe cab stand for years - in fact I used it on Friday and it easily held my 4x10" which was good cos we were set up with our backs to a large window on the first floor
17. Right, I bought a set of 45 flats and man am I impressed. Used them last night for the first gig and absolutely love them. I'm assuming that they are really bright to begin with but will dull down over time. The most amazing fret clack I have ever heard. I thought I was playing my old Warwick Thumb at one point the sound was so close. I'm going to do a full review at the end of year once I'm convinced they've bedded in. I must have been playing like a Trojan cos my index and middle finger fingers on my right hand are so sore
18.
These were the BD's a few years back..will surely do someone a sterling job, IMO.
Bogs Dollocks?
19. Both still available for a monster 8x10" rig - if I split them then there is still one available as I already have interest in one of them
20. I recently traded these with Conan but it looks like I'm not going to get the use out of them that I thought I would. These cabs are the ones with the durable carpet covering and steel grills as opposed to the new easily marked vinyl and speaker cloth ones. Exactly the same cabs - only the aforementioned is different. The drivers are identical, they just use a different colour paper for the cones. These are rated 450w RMS at 8ohms and are 37kg each. Phenomenally loud cabs. I used both last weekend with 2 very loud widdly guitarists with no PA in a large pub and they weren't even remotely being pushed. One cab sold so the remaining one is available for £150 plus postage
21. A Big One, exactly the kind of cab I am looking for - couldn't interest you in 2 Ashdown MAG 4x10" cabs?
22.
I was browsing the music mags today and noticed Classic Rock magazine has an album of theirs for free, what a great coincidence. Picked it up, will have a listen tomorrow.
ooh, Rick Neilson mentioned that. thought it was next months. I think its their newest one. I'll need to get it.
