I've raised the PU really high (with gaffer tape to stop the strings hitting the pole pieces) , and have lost some sustain due to the proximity of the PU magnets affecting the string vibrations - common issue apparently .

So I wanted to leave the PU heights as they were , then just fit a small cut to size , sheet of Perspex over the top of them both .

That's normal with pretty much every pickup - is there a reason that you need the pickup so high? Would it not be better to drop the pickup until you get the sustain back?

If the pickup is so close to the strings would you be able to fit anything between them?

Or have I picked this up wrong 🤔

  2. As always I used D'addario EXL165-5 strings on both my BB425 & 1025 and never found them dull.

The Prosteels can be very bright and snappy due to the fact that they are stainless steel v nickel but I wouldn't say that there's a gigantic difference between them

  3. I find that D'addarios are smoother across the board. When i made the switch from flats to rounds I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that their EXL nickels were about the smoothest nickel plated string that you could get. Their stainless steel strings are also really smooth for a SS string as well.

I find that I can jump from their flats to nickels to SS and they all feel really good and not rough like some of the strings I've used in the past. I like my strings to have the same tension and D'addario are about the only company that publish their tensions so I always check them before buying to make sure I am going to get the same tension regardless of what type I use when changing basses

  4. I've got a Fender Rumble 15 combo that I use for home practice. Plenty of volume, aux input and headphone output. I've got it in the corner of the living room on a small glass table, takes up very little room

You can't just force the poor little pedal out have you not ever thought why he hasn't left the house? Pedals need love not just casting out for gods sake man lol

    Seriously though glwts 👍

anyone who knows me knows that I change my gear regularly just for the hell of it. Ordinarily I would have done a few gigs with it only to discover something else, sell this and then start the whole process again. Given the current situation I haven't had the opportunity to use it at a gig so it's still minty fresh.

I did a lot of research before buying this over anything else, including the B3N, one of the Boss multieffects and something else and then I remembered that I don't really use effects regularly

  6. Bought brand new during lockdown and never left the house. I think I used it once and put it back in it's box so it still has the batteries in their plastic sleeves and all of the paperwork.

Looking for £60 or best offer.

Postage will be £5 for mainland UK

  7. I've just had a look and the side dots are where you would find them on a fretless bass. I did have a plan to make lines along the top so as not to interfere with the look of the maple board but never got around to doing it.

I'm not worried if it doesn't sell. The more I think about it the more I think it might be a good winter project to get myself a good Sting Police era fretless precision for not a lot of money

Am I missing something here? That seems good value!?

The nut width is a little too “Jazz” for me, but I’m tempted....

Does the neck have side dots? And are they “on” where the fret lines would be, or in between as a fretted neck?

    Thanks, John

I'm not at home at the moment but I think that they are in the same place as on a fretted bass.
