1. I personally ignore it when people say that the Squier VM Jazz fretless is a good beginner bass. I;ve been playing for nigh on 23 years and the two best fretless basses I've ever played have been a 1995 Musicman Stingray and a Squier VM Jazz fretless. I kid you not, if I was still playing fretless then I would happily gig this every night
2. Really liking that - what a fantastic price I mean, you're not getting it made to your exact specification but a handmade instrument for close on second hand Fender USA money? That's surely a bargain in anyone's book. I was planning on buying myself something nice with the Christmas party night money so this has added something completely unexpected to the mix
3.
My covers band wants to do Superstition (aiming for something close to the Stevie Wonder version) but we're struggling with the main riff - we just can't get that sound. Any ideas on how I could get close on my bass? It's a Geddy Lee Jazz with roundwounds going through a Hartke LH500 and a pair of 15" cabs. I guess I'm going to need an effects box of some description, but I'm not sure where to start. Any (relevant) suggestions would be appreciated.
I see you're getting in early with your Christmas avatar I didn't realise that there was any kind of Synthy sound on there - take it you mean so you can play the funky keyboard bit? It is a very difficult song to get the feeling right, especially since it is quite a simple song
4. Made in Japan Boss BF-2B Bass Flanger, green label. Very good condition - few wee chips in the paint round the sides and back but not that noticable it you have it on a board. Does exactly what it says on the tin. I have some velcro on the underside but on the edges so as it doesn't damage the label if you're into that kind of thing. The last one went on Ebay for £65 so let's call it £53 delivered Second up is a Boss PH-3 Phaser pedal - I bought this without actually knowing what a phaser did but I wasn;t dissapointed. Lots of sounds to be had from this fantastic wee pedal. £99 + postage new so £63 delivered
5. well I just want the amp so if someone can buy me it then you can put an offer in for the cab
6. There's so much good, cheap gear coming out, its hard to find anything bad these days I really like the look of Dean basses as well
7.
On the back of the bass there is a label that says: "Inspected by B.B.SUN". Does it help?
That sticker was on my recent Bass Collection Speakeasy so it sounds like its one of the newer ones although I don't remember ever seeing one in that colour. Pretty sure they only do white, a really bad sunburst and natural
8. The bass that I had my eye on is no longer available but I'm still keeping the cab at its reduced price. Up for some trades if money is an issue - PM me with what you have. I am interested in, but not limited to: Epiphone Thunderbird non-reverse, Explorer, Flying Vee or Les Paul Maybe something by Dean Guitars or I may have a go at 6 string again.
9.
Yeah, I buy and sell a lot of basses in my quest for finding the perfect basses (for me). I have sent/received more than 30 basses over the last 2 years, and as long as you put it in a hard case (pack it up inside with bubble wrap) and put the hard case inside a solid card board box, there is virtually no risk. I have never had any shipping problems of any kind! Definitely offer postage if you want to sell.
I can beat that - 60 basses posted, about a dozen cabs, cabinet flightcases and 4 or 5 amps as well as small stuff. My Goth thunderbird arrived from the US with the neck off the body to keep shipping down. There is a sticky that shows you how to pack a bass and I'm sure it goes into detail about how to do it if you have no case or bag for it as well. Now's also a good time to offer postage to Europe as well as the Euro to the Pound is terrible for us but great for countries that use the Euro
10. Really like that - a bit of a Les Paul variant
11. I have the opposite problem - I have something for sale but there must be something blocking people's PMs coming through
12. Does he teach you driving 'the Chinese Way'?
13. The action looks a bit high and the 5th fret seems a lot more worn that the others I had to enlarge the picture to check that it was actually a bass - looks like one of those pictures where they've magnified an everyday object by 100x and you need to guess what it is.
14. about 29kg if you're talking about the 2x10" and 7kg for the 4052H
15. Hmm the HF ones may be the ones for me. I don't want uniform frequency attenuation - I like my ER20s cos they get rid of some of the damaging high end caused primarily by crashing symbols in my immediate vicinity. I've always been very sensitive to high frequencies my whole life so they may be the solution
16. I'll find out when I use it on Friday - its a wedding gig so I would normally only use one of them but f*** it I really want to hear how it sound with both running
17. which bin? I would really like one of these but like most folks cash is pretty thin on the ground The best I could do is a 4 month old GK 700RB II in a Gator rack, Trace 2103H 2x10" and maybe a few cash pounds on top.
18. Is it my imagination or is this really cheap? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Gibson-EB2-B...=item1e5e76c846
19.
I'm filling up.....
Are you allowed to use a Blackberry at the petrol station?
20. more originals than covers on the voting but more covers than originals on the posts in the thread?
21. An idea I've had for some time now but am unsure how effective it would be. Would it be possible to plug your bass into a small 5 or so watt all valve guitar combo to get a 'proper' overdriven valve sound before taking a line out to your bass amp? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree?
22. This cab and the 1153 on here would make a fantastic compact stack and exactly what I was going to do until I got my hands on 2 4x10"s
23. Surely it would be cheaper to find the best showroom condition 76 Jazz bass and have the work done by the best luthier in the country and it would still be less money?
24. Plenty of interest in the 2x10" but nothing firm yet - also on Ebay but would prefer to sell here.
