1. The nearest one for us is normally in Moffat, organised by Alan at ACG I haven't managed to get along to one yet as I've normally got something on but I hope to get to the next one whenever that is
2.
Decided to spend a little more and I've gone for the Orange Bass Terror, Its 500 watts RMS compared to the Bugeras 500 watt peak, but does the fact it's only class D change anythin? I hope it's loud enough.
Its its not loud enough then youre either a) hard of hearing and need to see an audiologist or; you're playing Woodstock with no PA support. This is a seriously loud head
3. I rmember vividly my dad coming over on Christmas morning when I was 12 to hear my new bass. I had to hide round the corner from him before I could play. It took me ages before I was comfortable with someone being around me when I played - maybe something to do with worrying that people think you're terrible, being out of your comfort zone or just shy
4. Right, a few years ago I decided to go with a Rickenbacker 4003 to get the Chris Squire sound. Sounded nothing like him. listened to him a bit more, well a lot more, in fact I'm listening to Yes right now. He seems to get the same grindy tone regardless of what he's using so I'm guessing its down to the amp he uses. I'm happy with my GK but I can't get it to quite grind enough for me. I've been extensively looking for something that will replicate his tone and have got it down to a couple of possiblities. The sound I am trying to achieve is this which just so happens to be one of my favourite songs. Looking forward to the replies and, please, I know the reputation Behringer has so no need to bring it up. Thanks
5.
You mean like they used to?
Exactly - I'm waiting for a victory reissue If you know of anyone selling one in the future then let me know
6. I seem to have mislaid my camera so I've added images I found on the web so you know what they look like in the meantime
7.
I imported two big Schroeder cabs, and.. err... HMC&E must have been busy with other things that day(!)
I'm telling on you
8. And the prize goes to:
Surely we haven't reached the astonishing realisation that a good player can make almost anything sound half-decent, and that the benefits offered by expensive instruments are not only incremental but subject to the law of diminishing returns when compared to the fiscal outlay?
Congratulations, you win a weekend for two in February. There are going to be good players with expensive gear but yes, I believe that you can gig with almost anything as long as its made decently
9. Well when I had my Trace V-type combo, I replaced the Marshall branded ones that were in there with JJ 12AX7s and they gave the amp a lovely dirty tone so they'd be the first ones I'd try again.
10. Its a Galveston or similar from the same factory
11. I think I was something silly like £70 for my Schroeder 1212L
12. cool - sow how far away is eventually? I know what tubes I'd be going for already.
13. Unless you're buying from the showcase on the Warmoth site, be prepared to wait a couple of months for it. It might be quicker depending on what you're after but from previous experience its not an overnight thing, plus yout have the time for it to leave Warmoth, get on a plane, get checked and charged by customs, pay the charges to release it and actually receive it. Having said that, their stuff is fantastic quality
14.
I'll not ever be selling it.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa This is Basschat anonymous, where gear junkies come to get their fix and find the one (for that week) Sorry but I did that a few times before I realised that I'll never be satisfied with what I have so just buy and sell stuff when I want a change Warmoth stuff is amazing - I built 2 basses from Warmoth parts, basses that I'd never sell Exactly, they're long gone
15. Hmm, surprised there's been no response yet - when I asked about something similar to a Fender tonestack in a pedal, one of the ones I was recommended was this one.
16. most demos are with guitars but just found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXltokckq5w
17. I think the important thing is - do you like it? If so then that's enough to get one Thought it was ugly form the first point I saw it - and let's be realistic, how many punters are actually going to know who Victor Wooten is? If it sounds good and let's you play what you want on it then go for it.
18. Yes - I learned it then bought the 'off the map' live DVD when it became obvious he was using a plectrum no wonder it was difficult to learn
19. I dare say anyone on here who sets up their own basses in your area could show you how its done. Once you know how to adjust everything, its all pretty straightforward for most people. There are those who would rather take it to someone to have it done - that's where guys like 7String on her come in handy if you are unsuare or want to know that its being done properly.
20. If they'd been closer I might've taken them for a double doom Ashdown stack
21. in other words the silk is a different colour and they're heavier guage. I think I'll try a set next time my strings need changing which will probably be the new year now. Cheers for the info
22. It will fit over a Gotoh 201 if that's any help? You could always check out the dimensions of both to see how close they are.
23. A common fix for the all too common Rick tail lift, even on the real ones, was to have 2 extra screws at the tail end of the bridge into the body. I was trying to find pics of it now but can't There'll be loads on the Rickresource somewhere.
24. your fingers lock as in they won't move at all or you get cramp and your fingers won't work properly? If its the latter then practicing will improve this, if its the former then go to the doctor
