Does anyone know exactly how limited these are? I really love the colour but I know I can get a black or cherry one from Thomann delivered for less than £125 £25 isn't a lot but it is on a £150 bass.

The Rolls-Royce of 12-string basses

in the 12 string bass playing world that's the daddy -
I've noticed a big change in his voice in recent years as well and not in a good way

So Thunderbirds are rock basses are they?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in General Discussion
This is why I think you can use 1 bass for almost every style of music instead of having one for this and one for that. Unless its blatantly obvious that a song needs fretless or 12 string I'm confident I can fit my Thunderbird into any type of music A passive, pointy, £200 bass - long live this golden age of cheap, quality basses -
Saw a clip of the Specials on that BBC4 programme last night and noticed that the bass player was using a Thunderbird http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrOi_mJFN8k About time they were recognised as more than big metal hair rock band basses

I didn;t know how good the search was if it would bring up anything if I typed in Fender Bass VI or if it would do what Talkbass does and ignore anything with fewer than 3 characters giving me about 12000 threads for Fender Bass Funny that. Been here over 3 years and never tried that
That looks awesome, bet it sounds the dogs bollocks as well! The only thing I'd do to it would be change that nasty 3 point bridge for a slightly more tasteful hipshot number, but of course that's just me.
I know someone selling a black one

Tried to search for info on this but so far haven't been able to find any on here. Since my early teens I've had a hankering to get myself something like the Fender Bass VI that Jack Bruce used in Cream but being strictly a finger player I thought it maybe a tad difficult to play with the strings being so close together. Now I'm finding my playing style changing and I have the urge to play chords and other stuff that you can do on a guitar while still playing it as a bass. My question is: can I buy a regular guitar and tune it E - E using Fender Bass VI strings or similar or will the difference in scale length between a guitar and the baritone/bass VI be a huge issue? Alternatively, who makes a baritone that I can tune E - E cheaply enough but playable so I can buy one second hand to see if its for me before putting out a lot of money for one?

I use an OC-2 and a chorus for Billie Jean I also have a Boss Phaser which is fantastic for Scissor Sisters and suchlike I don;t worry too much about what the original sounded like as long as I can make it sound good
In no particular order, and not necessarily present at every gig... Achievement, money, the joy of seeing smiling / dancing punters, meeting new people and old friends, being told the gig has sold well, laughing with fellow band members about daft / rubbish / scary gigs, travelling, learning new things, camaraderie, listening to great songs over and over again, marvelling at musical colleagues, punters coming up to tell you they enjoyed it, laughing at their / my mistakes, and - above all - those magic moments when the band is cookin'. For all of the above, I can forgive the bad times.
Have you been moonlighting with my wedding band? That pretty much sums up what I enjoy as well but you worded it better

I don't love every gig but I look forward to each one. Its bizarre but I'm always hearing stories about 4 or more bands on the same bill and moving/sharing gear etc but I haven't been in the situation of supporting or being supported by a band for 16 years ay least. Every gig I've done since then has been my band only and that's it so I can set my stuff up knowing that only my band will be on stage. I get an immense buzz from playing and a greater one when the crowd are getting into it as well. I played a 40 minute slot at the singer in my rock band's retirement do a couple of weeks ago in Waxy O'Connors in Glasgow. it took longer to get there and I did it as a favour for petrol money and he bought us all drinks ( I was driving so I was on the cola) The only time I can't be bothered is when there are loads of 'singers'. It makes for a very disjointed night, especially when they're still coming up with 10 minutes to go at the end of the night and I'm wanting to get things cranked up for the last few tunes before we finish. Other than that I generally have a good time at most gigs. We're more interested in having a laugh than talking about gear or songs etc - luckily we're all good musicians so we can do this without it affecting our performance Our last practice for the wedding band must've been at least 6 years ago and 8 months for the rock band

Antoria PJ Maple Fretless For Sale or Trade
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Basses For Sale
from the top of page 1 to page 2 in 7 and a half hours. lots of activity going on today I just thought I'd clarify something as I hadn't thought about it before - the neck is 4mm narrower at the heel than a standard Fender neck so it wouldn't be just a matter of swapping necks but then, why would you want to lose that wonderful maple growl? Also means that its a tad slimmer for smaller or more nimble fingers -
a budget unlined fretless that you can modify? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=102363 you live close enough that we could meet up - £150 and its yours

a fantastic bass but one that's not for everyone. Prices are a bit wild at the minute, if you do a search on Ebay for Fender basses in Japan available to the UK, they're coming in at around £800 new whereas a year ago they would've been around £500 or less. Second hand they go between £350-500 roughly. Yours has a case, is in great condition and is an older model so I would be putting it up for £500 at least to begin with. I've had 2 and they are brilliant basses but I couldn't live with the lack of body contour
