    I could sit my 2x15" upright on the floor of the boot, tip it back and clear the roof in my Honda Civic. You'd probably have to load the cab on its back in the flightcase unless you used the boot lip as a fulcrum to tip over into the boot.

    I was playing at the weekend with my trace 2x15 and brightbox through my Gallien head with a smile on my face all night - although it does help playing with the same drummer for 15 years who plays a Premier Signia kit with Kickport. I turned the OC-2 on and was looking around me to work out where the bass was coming from - it sounded like I'd just been connected up to huuuuuuuge PA subs sh*t - just realised that this sounds like something you'd read on Talkbs In the pocket, outtasight, it kills, Jaco etc

    cannnons that shoot photon torpedoes at guitarists and ego maniac singers, 4 forward gears. Some kind of electric hat that takes your thoughts and turns them into notes. His and hers sinks with gold taps. Personally I'd go for the Stu Hamm pickup setup so you have the best of both worlds, simple tone and volume controls with pickup switching, series/parallel etc but keep it passive. candy apple red finish. Maple fretless neck with binding - if you've ever seen the pictures in the Fender Bass Book with the 2 Custom Jazz basses you'll know what that looks like.

    You would think that with the likes of Lakland and Musicman offering their lower end variants made in the far east that it makes sense for Wariwck to do the same with their revamped Rockbass series but not their high end basses. Personally I don't care where something is made as long as it is well made but I can see how someone who is fond of a brand would be upset or annoyed if production moved elsewhere.

    Bought brand new 3 weeks ago I am considering selling my Squier VM Jazz bass. You know the one - natural, maple neck, block inlays, Duncan Designed pickups and so on. No trades on this one, I am strictly a one bass man. Considering it is brand new and in perfect nick apart from some usual light marks on the scratchplate you can only see if you hold it up to the light (that's what its there for). It has a finish mark on the corner or the heel of the body, so small, it took me an afternoon to find it but I like to be honest with my stuff. I'm looking for £220 delivered to mainland UK in a sw@nky Fender gig bag (they come with nowt) I'll also include a couple of sets of light guage strings (same as fitted) as well as the originals that were taken off the day I got it and a few of my favourite paper-in-oil caps for you to try. I'll even include the 'Basschatters Favourite' straplock system (those Grolsch type washers) We all know on here how good these are and if it wasn't for the rekindling of my love for fretless it wouldn't be for sale. To make things interesting, if you'd prefer to have a sunburst body with tort scratchplate and maple block neck instead of the usual natural finish then I can swap the neck with my fretless as they are essentially the same bass with different finishes.     When I get a m*nger of the bass variety, the first thing I do is completely strip it down. Lemon oil onto the fretboard to give it a good clean. Mask off the frets and use 000 grade steel wool from B&Q etc to take the crap off the frets. Take the hardware and fire it into a container of cheap cola for a day or so depending on how bad it is. Do this with the pickup covers if they separate from the pickups. cleaning the body really depends on the finish. I bought a bottle of dark blue Colour Magic car polish in the early 90s and I'm still using it to clean up basses and it makes it smell like bubble gum. Febreeze to the case if it has one Assemble and set up and your good to go - this is also the time to put a shim in the neck if it needs one Easy to replace the switch - remove first wire from old switch and solder to same connector of new switch, remove other wire and solder it to matching connector on the new one and Bob's your auntie's live-in lover

    my understanding of the way it works is that pins 1+ and 1- of the speakon were full range and pins 2+ and 2- are for high frequency so splitting them from the main conection to 2 separate outputs should be possible. OBBM knows his stuff so made me a speaker cable to do just that but it doesn't give me any output to the high frequency section. Nothing to do with the way the brightbox works - swapping the outputs over gave me a signal to the brightbox but not to the 2x15", switch back over and I get output to the 2x15" but not the brightbox the 800RB had a separate output for the high end - don;t know why they didn;t allow this option for the 1/4" jack output

    Hi I got OBBM to make me a cable to allow me to send the lows from my 700RB II to my 2x15" and the highs to the bright box as I wanted to control the volume going to the bright box instead of just linking it. It doesn't seem to be working the way I thought it would. Does anyone have a bi-ampable GK speaker that lives near me that I can try to see if I have a faulty amp as I'm not getting anything going to the bright box?

    They all look very well made - the jazz even comes with series/parallel switching I wonder who they've got making these - possibly the same place that made those 7 and 8 string basses that used to be on Ebay in the US. they were all set neck as well

    Aye, he has a 4005 which is painted or something. I vaguely remember him having some sort of design on his. The 4005 is the daddy as far as the Rick fans go, moreso the 6 and 8 string versions and the lightshow one. As far as I remember, he mainly used the 3000/3001

    If these pics are anything to go by then this bass was sold to Moos3h who in turn sold it to me. Unless there are 2 Squier fretless VM fretless Jazz basses with tort guards and black knobs doing the rounds mine isn't for sale

    eh? Like the 3000 before it, these were built as budget learners instruments. They've never been highly sought after like their big brothers - unless you're a huge Mani fan. I forget if he used a 3000 or a 3001 These are the Rickenbacker equivelants of the Musicman SUB. Pretty steep considering you can get a 'proper' 4003 for that kind of money

    Nice to see a decent attempt at a Stingray copy with a difference.     I had my black Epiphone Thunderbird fitted with DR red devils and they were really growly for the bass but rough as a badgers @r$e

    No pictures yet but I am now the proud owner of Squier VM Jazz fretless and fretted basses. I'm still contemplating seeing if I can swap the body of the fretless with one from a fretted so I have 2 identical natural finish Jazzes. I may swap the necks on both, sell the fretted neck on the sunburst fretless body and buy another VM fretted if I can't find anyone to swap with. not sure yet

    I've decided to start with a basic mod first by installing a series/parallel switch I've been a fan of P basses for a while and from what I have been reading, this changes the sound to a fairly close approximation

    Nope - that's the one all the Rick fans would sell their mothers for as used by Chris Squier, Roger Waters, John Entwhistle etc Although it isn't totally original - didn't think they were going for quite a high price as that.

    I too have been contemplating this but according to what I've read so far unless you really don't like the pickups, the consensus is not to bother. I had been thinking about a drop in preamp like an Audere or something but do I really need it?
