1. If you take the screws out that are holding the amp in and slide the amp out, there should be a sticker with the date of manufacture on it.
2. Wishing Well - Free Billie Jean - MIchael Jackson (lots of OC-2 and flanger on this one) Let me Entertain You - Robbie Williams Radar love - Golden Earring Let there be Love - Nat King Cole You Realy Got Me - Van Halen version A few that I enjoy playing in the house but don't gig: Yes - Siberian Khatru and everything off the Fragile album Thin Lizzy - Chinatown Led Zeppelin - Black Dog Chilis - Sikamikaniko, Parallel Universe, Fela's Cock Iron Maiden - The Trooper, Phantom of the Opera I've been going between Siberian Khatru and Fela's cock as my mobile ringtone for the past 5 years There are actually only a handful of songs that I don't like and would refuse to play. It never ceases to amaze me how many songs that are unbearable to listen to are really good to play. BTW I dislike Robbie with a passion but that song's OK
3.
What the hell is Bumpette???
isn't that a towelette for your bum? I'm loving all this older Trace stuff right now. I'd buy it all if i could Wait, I really should be bumping my own stuff but then again if this sells then it won't tempt me to get in the car and head for Stockport for something that I really would like but really don;t need or have the room for.
4. I've played about with 4, 5, 6, 8, 12 string, fretted and fretless basses over the years. I go from one to another just for the hell of it to see if there is anything I can play differently to improve me as a bass player. Right now I'm thinking about going back to a 6 string. I don't do it according to the music I play or the musicians I play with - i do it for me to help me improve. I would say that unless you are playing stuff that simply must be played below low E then the choice is entirely up to you. Why not try a second hand cheapy first and see how you get on?
5. yip - sold mine for way more than twice as much
6. What a bloody bargain - I'd have this if I had the cash and lived closer to you. These combos are mental loud and sound the bollox as well. So what if its heavy? the sound is definitely worth it and much better IMO than the vast majority of the new lightweight stuff out there.
7. I played 6 string for a while but only had 1 5 string briefly strung E-C The only song I could think off right away to use it for was the chorus of Wishing Well by Free after the key change I found I used the C much more on a 6 string than on that 5
8. fingers 1, 2 & 4 for me too although when I play octaves my middle finger tends to straighten up and it looks like I'm giving the audience 'the bird'. I do get pain sometimes on the fourth knuckle of my top hand
9. I may have made this up but wasn't it Mo Foster that played on this? Him of Minder theme fame
10. Something very interesting has just come up so I'm selling mine
11. Do you have a specific type of band that you are looking to get in? eg covers or originals, rock, jazz, funk or blues etc.
12. 45kg. but is fairly easy to maneuvere. I went down the lightweight route but found I lacked the bottom end that I got from traditional cabs, that's why I'm back with the ever reliable Trace gear again
13. a bump to let anyone interested know that this is only available here until someone puts a bid in or hits the BIN button on my Egay auction Also for anyone worried about the weight - I am no muscle man. I can easily get this in and out of the car and the wheels make it a breeze to move about and if there are too many stairs then its a walk in the park with a 2 man lift and remember, if you are collecting I can include the stairclimber trolley for much cheapness. The weight is well worth it for the sound you get from it.
14. The original SR5 colour - I still have my copy of Guitarist from 1987 when they reviewed the very first of these and it was this colour. Never seen another one like it until now.
15. I have a nice 2006 Honda Civic 1.8EX but it ain't for sale really nice bass and I fancy another 6 string but I have zero pounds.
16. Brian May from Queen uses a sixpence I use more conventional Herco Heavy picks
17. I could tell you all about myself, what bands I;ve been in etc but I won;t. Why not take a break, give your gear a good clean and pack it away for a bit and see how you feel. If you throw in the towel and sell your gear you may regret it in a few months if you begin to feel the urge to play again. Ok, I lied, I will talk about myself: I began playing bass at age 12. practiced every every minute of every day that I had free. About 8 years ago I suddenly found myself in the position where I never pick up my bass between gigs unless it is to learn a specific song. That's still the case today but I still feel the same buzz when playing. If I didn;t enjoy it then I wouldn;t do it. I;m the opposite to you in that I;ve always played in covers bands and always enjoyed putting my signature on every song I play unless it already has what I would consider to be the perfect bassline. I'm rambling now. The bottom line is - do what you feel is right for you and don;t have any regrets about it. You could always dust off the bass in a few weeks/months/years if you feel the urge to play again. No one is going to judge you because you want to jack it in for a bit and really, who cares what other people think as long as you are happy that you are making the right decision? If it feels right to you then it is right.
18. one day I will own one of these orange terror bass & trace 4x12" take your fancy? :brow:
19. I have some foam cleaner that I am going to try first. It has 4 front ports but I'm not entirely sure that Trace lined the inside of their cabs. If it is then I'll probably pick a quiet time for the band, take the old wadding out and recover it as well
