1. as did You could try finding a trace V-type preamp - 2 valves like the bass terror
2. Its certainly different from the coffee table basses in the same kind of price range. personally it looks like a cross between a ceramic toilet seat and one of those exercise contraptions that you push the bars together to work your pecs. but if I played one and it sounded exactly how I wanted a bass to sound, played better than any other bass I'd ever played, hung perfectly on a strap, made me want to become a better player and I had the money to buy it then I would be making the decision whether or not to buy it - I couldn't decide that right now as I don't have the funds at hand to even consider it. The point I am trying to make is that most people here are making a decision based on a picture and I would take a guess that most of us could not afford to buy one right now either. I am very happy with my Honda Civic but if I came into a silly amount of money then I would be heading off to buy myself a Bugatti Veyron even though the Civic does everything I need a car to do very well.
3. If you don't have anything to trade then I'll sell this for £120 collected. I'd rather not post as it doesn't have a bag or case and if I were to add one then it would start to push the price up to make it not worth your while. I don't mind meeting in a dark car park somewhere to do the sale/trade as long as you're not too far away.
4. I took the prosteels off after 1 gig - hated them so I'm back to my favourite dead rotos again. I bought the set of knobs and matching strap from a store in the US. Fernandes produced them at the same time as they did the star wars guitars. They did plectrums and other stuff as well I've got the tie fighter pilot, darth vader, C3P0 and Boba Fett
5. its all done with smoke and mirrors In my opinion Rickenbackers are overpriced - terrible bridges that are fiddly at best to adjust, bridge surrounds that lacerate your fingers, 2 truss rods that work differently to nearly every other bass in existence and that most people are scared to touch, uncomfortable slab body, the midnight blue ones a couple of years ago had a finish that ran underneath the top varnish onto the binding. That and they sound nothing like they do on the records. The price has increased by about 50% in the past couple of years and you have to wait however long now to get one. Doesn't stop me wanting a C64, V63 or the daddy - the CS, though
6. I've used GK amps in one form or another for most of my bass playing life, almost 23 years and counting, and I've never managed to make one distort yet and I am bloody loud
7. Come to think about it, I don't necessarily need to trade this for another bass. I'm perfectly happy with my P bass If you have something of similar value - Boss GT6-B, other effects or whatever then PM me
8. I spent some time contemplating whther or not to sell this recently and realise that there is no way I am going to be parting with it so i decided to fit the FretFX LEDs that I've had for the last few weeks. Looks a bit untidy at the front so I may see if i can get some light coloured tape to cover the black The back is quite neat Side shot And the moment you've all been waiting for - LEDs on: Not as neat as Martin Sims would do but then again these cost £50 and came with 5 batteries. They go on and off by simply inserting the battery. If you don't want them on the just pull the battery out and insert it the wrong way so you don't lose it. Mine came set for a 21 fret bass but mine is only 20 so it had an extra LED - I just cut it short so that it didn;t disappear off the end of the neck at the body end
9. I had one similar to this in the past, mine was an SB635 with Paduak instead of the Zebrano, gold hardware, active EQ, ebony fretboard -fantastic basses. The fretboard was the inspiration for my gold Warmoth with no front markings I'd have another one in a minute if I had the cash
10. More pics as promised The 2 pickups are controlled by vol/vol/tone, same as a jazz bass. It also features a jazz bass friendly nut width of 37mm and tapers very little towards the last fret which has a neck width of 57mm. It still has the protective plastic on the back of the tuners and control plate.
11. Thanks for the offer but I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Thunderbirds. I love the slim neck and the growly sound I can get from them but I hate the neck dive despite moving the strap buttons and could never get on with the body shape either. Fantastic rock basses though.
12. I'l take more/better pictures in the morning when it is lighter
13. If you can sell your cab and pick up a Schroeder on the forum then you'll be set. I used a 700RB II and a 4ohm Schroeder 1212L and it was loud enough for any gig I did regardless of size. The amp is plenty loud so I would say to change the cab and keep the amp if you like the GK sound.
14. One other cause - have you checked to make sure that the cable going from the speaker to the output jack isn't touching the back of the cone. that's happened to someone on here before with a Schroeder cab I think
15. I'd have this in a minute if I had the cash - I love the colours. I've got my Epi Les Paul up for trade but if someone offers me cash and this is still here then I may very well be back
16. Don't know if you saw my thread elsewhere but much as I love this bass, I cannot get on with the lack of top body contours so I thought I'd trade for something else. Its finished in the same matt black that the Gothic Thunderbirds were. It is quite easy to mark this surface and my bass does have some marks but due to the blackness of it all, these are not that easily spotted. I bought this recently from another forum member who has owned it from new. When he first got it, the bridge was out of alignment so he removed it and put it where it should be . Obviously this leaves a mark where the previous one was down one side but, again, the colour helps disguise this to any adoring fans at gigs. Its 6 months old, 2 careful owners and sounds fantastic. I'm not offering this initially for sale, so no price but I would like to trade it for something else with a cash adjustment my way if your bass is worth less than mine. I like Epiphones, so something like an EB-3 or EB-0, perhaps something shortscale like a Squier Musicmaster or whatever you may have that you'd like to trade with. I would like one of those bright green Dean Custom Zone basses as well. There's no bag or case with this so I'd prefer to meet to do the trade. These are the only 2 pictures I managed to take before my camera battery went flat but I'll fire some more up after. They were pretty dark so I had to lighten them with photoshop which makes the bass look paler than it actually is.
17. Emailed Mark at the start of the week about an Orange Bass Terror. He told me he was off but he'd pass the details to one of the guys in the shop. Got a call on Tuesday night I think at the back of 5. They didn't have one there but had one in their warehouse so he was going to get it over and despatch it on Tuesday - said it would probably be with me on Thursday - it arrived on Wednesday. did me a good price as well so I'm hapy with the service - not many shops that'll call you to take an order
18. There is no difference in the black and blue speakers except the colour. That's what Ashdown told me anyway.
19. If its the usual 4ohm 1212 then you have no worries - I regularly used one of these to keep up with a guitarist with a 5150 combo and a drummer who liked to hit very hard and all with no PA support
20. yes it is - good news if it does have speakon cos I have 2 cables I bought from OBBM when I had my Schroeder cab
21. we're just amuzing ourselves with childish banter until we find out what really happened. Beats accusations and finger wagging over something that we don't have the full facts about yet
22. My incoming Trace 4x12" only has jack input as far as I know
