1. The thing I much prefer about the newer ones in the last 10 or so years (possibly more) is that the pickup poles don't have the sharp edges of the older ones. That's what made me sell my 20th anniversary 4 string (and it was ugly) Newer ones have 6 bolt neck joints onstead of 4 (or 3 for the oldest ones) , clip open battery compartments instead of screw on chrome plates. The 2 absolute best ultimate stingrays for me were my 30th anniversary that had a monumental tone and my 5 string Lava Pearl one. That's another point, if you're buying a 5 string, until the 5 string sterlings came out the 5 string stingray was really a sterling due to the pickup and electronics which differ from the stingray. Once the new sterlings came out, they changed the 5 string stingray to be more like the 4 string stingray if that makes sense. Oh, and that's not to be confused with the sterling by musicman range which are the budget range.
2. i drift in and out of my own wee world when I'm playing and sometimes have to think where in the song I am when I come out of it. I also have a tendency to try difficult stuff on the spur of the moment during a gig which may or may not work. I never think of my widdling in terms of major, minor etc - i just play on the fretboard where I think will sound right and most of the time its right. I do make mistakes but can't remember the last time I did though so it must've been a good few months ago. The good thing is that doing mainly weddings and functions, the crowd tend not to notice. We usually have a laugh between ourselves if one of us make a mistake
3. My rock band is playing in Falkirk at the end of this month. we do a lot of Paul Rodgers stuff from Free right through to his solo stuff as well as others from U2, Golden earring, Paul Weller, Chilis etc I expect we will be starting around 9.30 - 10.00 This is our first gig there, we normally play in Behind The Wall for Falkirk gigs so it should be a good night Our singer - the great Baldy Jim is a legend in his own lunchtime. Our drummer has played with many bands all over the world. He's played with Fish but preferred using sticks (boom boom) Mick the guitarist is phenomenal but not big headded which is unusual for guitarists. Finally, if you want to hear a Fender Phil Lynott tribute bass played by a big bloke through an Orange Terror Bass and Trace 4x12" then I'll be there as well. Come one, come all. I'm looking forward to it.
4. Not had a chance to Egay this due to putting in a new bathroom so here's a bump
5. Try taking on a DIY project. I'm putting in a new bathroom so I've only been on here twice this week
6. I'll give you a pound
7. There were loads of variants in the Bass Collection range from the passive series, up to the exotic Paduak/Zebrano series and there were loads of colours available.
8. Mani played a 3000 which was very similar. Best bet is to check out the Rickresource forum for more info. Jeff Rath on there modifies Rics from 4 to 5 strings and I'm sure he's had a few of these More student range than the 4000 series, aimed at beginners. I'm sure that there was a 2080 Glen Frey bass similar to this one
9. Why not just end it?
10. Which model is it? looks like either an SB405 or 415.

12. My 90s MIJ Fender precision in shell pink with maple fretboard, Riverhead Jupiter used on my very first demo when I was19, Lava Pearl Stingray 5 string with white scratchplate and pickup, my 'Flea' 5 string stingray in black, 30th anniversary stingray, Ibanez SR1036 (or something like that) Not a huge list given the amount of basses I've owned but these are the ones I would have again if I could find them and had the money at the time
13. Got an email from the singer on Thursday to learn it in C for the gig on Saturday night We actually pulled it off really well. I don't have a fretless to get that honky sound so I use my Boss OC-2 & BF-3 and the sound was massive through my Terror Bass and Trace 4x12"
14. last bump before I sell it as kindling on Egay
15.
Sorry. They seem to go for a huge price for what they do, so I never succumbed. Maybe try the treble control on your amp... Seriously, though, the 412 is designed as a top box for the 215 (which I have) and the one I had was brite enuff...
Believe it or not the mid and high controls were quite high. There's so much bottom end coming out of this 1248. If you've still got the 1548 in a month or so then I may be over to get it for a completely mental 6ft high stack Where are located?
16. I don't suppose you have a 4052H bright box hidden in there do you? my 1248H is very pokey but I'd like to bring out some of the high end
17. If it was near me I'd have bought it myself http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-Bass-Ca...=item4cedeb323b
18. I sometimes get a variety of clicking sounds when I play at home. Its either the TV, computer or the central heating.
19. Hmm just tried the amp again and both outputs are working - how queer tonight's gig will show any problems
20. ok that's worrying. I plan on adding another 8ohm cab in the future so I think that rather than opening it up to see if there's a loose wire I'll see about getting it changed over Are you changing the valves in yours or just having a nosey?
21. The lack of a manual in the box had me on a search to see if such a thing existed as no one else seems to have been able to locate one. http://www.orangeamps.com/admin/downloads/...al_20100205.pdf ta da I am still concerned about the speaker outputs though. Does anyone who has one of these know if the output furthest from the 4/8ohm switch doesn't output anything when set to 8ohms? I only get sound from the output nearest the switch
22. I was wondering if it had something to do with the switch itself - if it is capable of putting out 500w into 4 or 8ohms then are there 2 250w amps inside operating in some kind of bridged mono when you have the 8ohm switch selected which would stop anything coming out of the other output or should I be worrying?
23. Ok so its definitely speakon only on the cab so I've got that sorted out and I've got myself a 40dB attenuator as well One small thing - when I have a single 8ohm cab connected to it with the 8ohm switch set, nothing comes out if I connect it to the input furthest away from the switch but I get output from the other output. is that normal? The lack of a manual doesn't help things
24. I went for soup in a basket once - what a mess
