there was the small matter of them being in the wrong category so no one else probably saw them.

I cannot believe that I won both of these for less than the cost of my v-type combo http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT It was a 2 hour drive there and back but what I received were 2 time capsule Trace products. There are small marks here and there but they are in so good condition. The 1110 was modified by trace to include a jack to add an extension cab and another to be able to mute the amp to make it a 4x10". The 1518 needed a new driver so the previous owner contacted Rob Green (yes, that Rob Green) who told him to install a particular Celestion driver. I had originally bought the combo to sell on but I feel a challenge coming on to see if a 150w 4x10" combo with 1x15" cab can cut it at a pub gig.

an amateur practices until they get it right, a professional practices until they don't get it wrong many a mickle makes a muckle there are a lot of dicks around, even in a small town like mine. I've been playing in bands with my drummer friend since I was 19. If they're sh*t then we move on. I remember us autitioning for a band about 13 years ago. at the end, the guitarist said 'if you want us you know where to find us'

have some Special Brew, throw up in the back of a cab, tell the bazdaz they're all fukkin geddin it and then fall asleep in your own wee. Exactly how not to get the gig. I have a habit of overplaying so perhaps the best way to approach it would be to learn everything, maybe find a little something you can add in yourself and save the bass solos for the second or third gig.

its a tax right off: 52 weeks x 110 miles x 25p = less to pay 'the man' My band hasn't rehearsed in 8 years but we're still playing the latests kiddies favourites like kings of bloody leon
Oh and to the smartarse who says 'you never need that much power on stage' should get with the real world and realise that not all bands and venues have a PA capable of having bass guitar through it (and the monitor mix), nor would always want it. Everyone's setup is likely to be different, so it makes sense to go for something, if practical, that will exceed your requirements, not just meet them. Cheers. James
Am I the smartarse you're referring to?

I've recently gone from a 600w Shuttle and 1212L Schroeder to a Trace 1x15" v-type combo which only puts out 180w on its own and its plenty when I use it as a monitor. My drummer is very loud and uses a Premier Signia which is a loud kit so I think that if you need a 500w amp and 2 cabs when you have a PA (as opposed to just wanting them to look cool) then you're far too loud. I've never played with my amp behind me - always on a cab stand so it points right at me, that way I can hear it properly instead of rumbling down at the back of my ankles. I've personally never seen the point of having your gear behind you low down so that you can't hear it properly, probably stems from the olden days with no pa support where it had to be there for you and the audience to hear it but when there is a pa then a cab stand is definitely the way forward. I use an extension cab when playing pub gigs with no pa. That sits behing me but only so its pointing at the audience.

Jimmy Moon on the south side is good - I had him do some work on a bass of mine and its the first time I've had a bass back that's been setup the way i wanted it. -
I don't think any couriers will let you insure a guitar unless its in a hard case - that's a warning that normally pops up at some point when booking online. I've found that parcelmonkey are the cheapest, certainly for large, heavy items and insurance is relatively cheap as well but, again, no hard case = no insurance if it gets damaged. If I may get on my soap box for a minute, I personally disagree with insurance anyway - If I am paying someone for a service to deliver something to another part of the country/world, why do i have to pay extra to cover for one of their workers damaging my item? If I have an accident in my car and its my fault then insurance that I've paid for will cover it - surely it shoulld be the couriers that claim off their insurance if they break something? it has a transistor amp so no power tubes. I've not noticed it feeling hot at any point

I say possible as during a gig you would normally expect some degradation in your hearing. I wear ER20s or something like that from start to finish so didn;t think that it would be the cause. My Trace Elliot V-type 1x15" combo seems to suddenly get a bit quieter during a gig. I only have to put it up a notch to get the volume back to what it was but am unsure why it does that - at first I suspected the preamp valves but I've had a good read and that doesn;t seem to be a symptom of knackered preamp tubes. Everything else is the same - same bass, volumes from other band members, number of people on the dancefloor as I know that can have an effect on the overall volume. Any guesses or is it just in my head and simply me wanting to change the preamp tubes for the sake of it? Answers on a postcard please.

Spotted this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/G-L-L2000-active-bas...=item1c0dbff668 much cheapness for this brand new bass considering I sold mine second hand for £749

Roqsolid didn't do a cover for my Trace V-type combo so I emailed the measurements, they made one up for me, it fits perfectly and now anyone with a 1x15" V-type combo can order one for themselves. I too got a black one with green piping

I've just fired a set of used TIs on my newly acquired MIM fender P with MM pickup and I'm happy so far. Personally, there's something about the MM pickup that brings out a good parpy, burpy sound with flats. One of the best fretless sounds I ever had was with a Stingray. I used to be a fan of twang but find myself heading towards a more mellow sound the older I get.

ah the famous Rick violin bass, of course, how silly of me. Clearly a case of mixing up William Shears Campbell's Rick & Hofner.

Steve how has a guitar mounted on a stand which is connected to a steel guitar on a dolly - watch a video of Siberian Khatru to see what I;m on about, so you could be onto something with the drum hardware thingy - something sturdy enough to hold a bass while you play. maybe something that would screw into the existing strap button holes to save carving up a perfectly good bass
