  1. That would be easy to do with a set of EMG Geezer Butler pickups. I had a fault with the preamp on mine and I managed to fit the full 3 band EMG EQ inside the control cavity as well as 2 9v batteries inside the battery compartment. Alternatively the pickups of your choice with a prewired solderless harness. You could do either and still be able to put it back to stock if you sold it.
  2. G30 Wireless sold on Ebay then the seller backed out so both still for sale
  3. According to legend, these had the Geddy Lee neck as production of the GL Jazz had only just moved to Mexico. I had one of these active ones and they are incredible. I think it was something silly like moving to 5 string that caused me to sell it - silly in the fact that I am now permanently playing 4 strings basses. Bah
  4. I've just put together my favourite gauge of D'addario Chromes using Amazon sellers. Just shy of £40 for my own custom set but £59.70 from Stringsdirect for the same single strings. A few pounds over I would have got them from Strings Direct but that;'s a huge saving Incidentally they're 45, 60, 80, 110 and going on my new Precision And also thanks to a pricing error ( I assume ) I got my Radial Tonebone for half price
  5. He's maybe been on the Dingwall site, seen the fanned frets and thought that he'd try to start a new trend for fanned tuners
  6. I do a lot of walking in my job and go hill walking most weekends. That's really good for keeping me fit and sets me up for that night's gig. I practice intermittent fasting which isn't for everyone but this is the best I have felt in years. I also stopped drinking alcohol last February. Our singer has a personal trainer and our guitarist goes to a boot camp 3 mornings a week. Conversely, our singer is lactose intolerant and has a secret vice of drinking double cream straight out of the fridge. A couple of weeks ago he found a smoked sausage in the boot of his car that had been there for a few days, opened and it had been warm outside. He ate it and not surprisingly was incredibly sick. We all help with the loading & unloading of equipment and I try to drink as much as I can during the gig without reaching the tipping point. I have a fan pointing up at me as well. The packing away is the easy part for me as I am pumped full of adrenaline and hyper for the next few hours
  7. I've been carrying a fan to gigs for a good number of years. I clip mine onto the handle of my K12.2 on the floor so that the pickups don't pick up the moving air from the fan which can happen if it's too close
  8. Hall & Ball - it's like a double act from the 80s - Rock on Johnny
  9. It's changed recently so if you are browsing the listing, eg a Stingray might have a price of £175 then below is "or best offer" but then when you go into the listing, the starting price is £175 and the BIN is £900 or best offer
  10. When I got my Harley Benton 75 Jazz I had a lot of parts left over from other basses so it now has: Hipshot Ultralites Schaller Straplocks Fender '62 & '74 pickups Solderless wiring loom form Six String Supplies D'addario Pro Steels That's about £250 of parts on a £140 bass. I would never have bought the parts especially for this bass ordinarily but they've turned a good bass into a great one. It's really the best Jazz I've ever played.
  11. I've decided to go back to using a cable so am selling my Line6 & RXT06 wireless receiver. This has the added advantage over the stock receiver in that as well as the usual 1/4" output it also has it's own balanced DI output. I used this to take a signal straight to the desk. I am looking for £60 ono. Postage will be £6. The Ebay buyer decided to back out so the G30 back up for sale here for £90 ono.
  12. They did a Modern Player Telecaster made in China a couple of years back that was kind of close but no where near as stunning as this one
  13. Not wanting to be a bigger buzz kill than Buzz Killington - I could probably say that about most things posted in this section. Now a Bass V - now there's a story 🤠
  14. I completely agree - it makes no financial sense to reproduce these. The masses want Precisions, Jazzes, Strats & Teles so that's what Fender make
  15. I've actually always wanted one of these. When you think about it they are ridiculous, having only 15 frets and the same range as a 4 string but I still want one but I like the odd balls from the 60s & 70s like these:
  16. The first thing I do to all of my basses whether they need it or not is fit Hipshot Ultralites. I like to play with my bass at almost a 45 degree angle to help keep my wrists straight and as well as losing a few grams in weight, they help to balance the bass better. The second thing is a wide, padded strap set at the correct height as the height of the strap can affect how the bass feels. The third is to move around as much as you can. I'm not talking about busting out your old 70's TOTP Legs & Co funky dancing but any movement will help shift the bass around as you play. My Harley Benton Jazz weighs 9.8lbs but is incredibly comfortable on long gigs thanks in part to these things.
  17. That was pre-Basschat and well before I knew what an efficient cab was. To be fair I was playing alongside a huge Ritchie Blackmore fan who had about 5 of his signature Strats and about 8 Marshall 4x12"s on stage.
  18. It was a bad gig that began the revolving door of gear with me around 2007. It was a loud stage and my Trace 1153 and GK 800RB were too quiet so out they went along with a Trace Elliot T-Bass 5 string and Stingray 5.
  19. As opposed to Brian Johnson who simply looked like he was trying to drop the kids off 😀
  20. They crop up on Ebay from time to time but usually come from the USA. If you're lucky they fall under the radar of Royal Fail but I wasn't. They were both still sealed in Fender packaging, I'm guessing that they were for repairs rather than sale as they didn't come in the usual packaging
  21. I happened to have brand new 62 neck and 74 bridge pickups unused in my parts box and decided to use them on my Harley Benton and it is now, without a doubt, the best sounding jazz I have ever played. The Radial Bassbone does help but cor blimey guvnor it's good.
  22. I think I may have priced this a tad too high so price reduced to £750 ono plus postage
  23. It looks like an irregularly shaped white jelly bean
