  1. I give up a lot of weekends to gig and it has to be worth it for me - I don't expect a huge wage for every gig but there's a value attached to giving up my weekends, especially like a lot of us who also work full time jobs during the week. I can understand why some people prefer to be in the studio or recording at home but personally I love gigging. It's where I get my enjoyment from and still a huge buzz after 30 years to get on stage and play.
  2. Jack had an emergency when his wireless receiver stopped working - swift payment and great comms meant that I was able to get the one I was selling straight out to him in time for a gig at the weekend.
  3. Someone on Ebay has just asked me for more pictures so I thought I may as well add them here as well
  4. The perfect bass for playing "Play that Funky Music"
  5. And play Black Sabbath bass lines to every song
  6. I have used 4, 5, 6 and on one occasion an 8 string at a wedding. Fretted, fretless, solid body, electroacoustic & semi-acoustic. I've used a fretless Yamaha TRB6, A Modulus Flea bass, Rickenbacker 4000, whatever I happened to have at the time. 99% of the time no one will notice what you have as long as it fits in with the sound of the band. I'd turn up to a corporate gig with a Warwick Bootsy Collins Space Bass if someone let me borrow theirs. Nothing is out of bounds as far as I'm concerned as long as it has 4 or more strings.
  7. I'm needing to take a break form the forum for a bit as I'm suffering from bass overload and people who don't respond to PMs but before I disappear for a bit I'd like to sell this bass. So I am offering it for a limited time for £660 posted to mainland UK (excluding outlying areas etc that would attract a premium) The trade value is still £750.
  8. I've told this story before but when I had my Stingray 5 with Ceramic pickup, I loved it but it was too heavy and I had a shoulder issue at the time so bought myself a Sterling 4H and fitted a Hipshot Xtender with a double stop lever so I could go down to both D & B The Sterling is gone but I am still using 4 string basses and find that I can get away with just the drop D
  9. Steak & Kidney Pie FTW
  10. I once went out to buy Robocop on DVD and bought a brand new car Back on topic, I had a stormer of a gig with my Harley Benton Jazz, came home and bought the Precision in my sig just because I needed one
  11. It's how I imagine a bass to look if a Lego person made it. I've honestly never seen one of these before but am strangely drawn to it
  12. Yes it will. I can't remember what the default is but you can switch between RF1 & RF2 using this link The RXT06 only works on RF2 I think. Once I changed my transmitter it worked on both this and the original receiver without having to switch between the two modes.
  13. I'm pretty sure a Fender Bass V would sell like hot cakes if they made them again. Nurse? where's me pills? I invented the banana etc
  14. It works on the 2.4Ghz band so I don't think taxis should be a concern. I've been using line6 wireless systems for about 5 years and have only changed the channel once and that was to get away from our radio mikes. If you have to switch channels then it only takes a few seconds for it to reconnect
  15. I might be making this up but with the active FSR there were 250 made and 100 came to Europe. That could be complete garbage though
  16. That would be easy to do with a set of EMG Geezer Butler pickups. I had a fault with the preamp on mine and I managed to fit the full 3 band EMG EQ inside the control cavity as well as 2 9v batteries inside the battery compartment. Alternatively the pickups of your choice with a prewired solderless harness. You could do either and still be able to put it back to stock if you sold it.
  17. G30 Wireless sold on Ebay then the seller backed out so both still for sale
  18. According to legend, these had the Geddy Lee neck as production of the GL Jazz had only just moved to Mexico. I had one of these active ones and they are incredible. I think it was something silly like moving to 5 string that caused me to sell it - silly in the fact that I am now permanently playing 4 strings basses. Bah
  19. I've just put together my favourite gauge of D'addario Chromes using Amazon sellers. Just shy of £40 for my own custom set but £59.70 from Stringsdirect for the same single strings. A few pounds over I would have got them from Strings Direct but that;'s a huge saving Incidentally they're 45, 60, 80, 110 and going on my new Precision And also thanks to a pricing error ( I assume ) I got my Radial Tonebone for half price
  20. He's maybe been on the Dingwall site, seen the fanned frets and thought that he'd try to start a new trend for fanned tuners
  21. I do a lot of walking in my job and go hill walking most weekends. That's really good for keeping me fit and sets me up for that night's gig. I practice intermittent fasting which isn't for everyone but this is the best I have felt in years. I also stopped drinking alcohol last February. Our singer has a personal trainer and our guitarist goes to a boot camp 3 mornings a week. Conversely, our singer is lactose intolerant and has a secret vice of drinking double cream straight out of the fridge. A couple of weeks ago he found a smoked sausage in the boot of his car that had been there for a few days, opened and it had been warm outside. He ate it and not surprisingly was incredibly sick. We all help with the loading & unloading of equipment and I try to drink as much as I can during the gig without reaching the tipping point. I have a fan pointing up at me as well. The packing away is the easy part for me as I am pumped full of adrenaline and hyper for the next few hours
