  1. I've been carrying a fan to gigs for a good number of years. I clip mine onto the handle of my K12.2 on the floor so that the pickups don't pick up the moving air from the fan which can happen if it's too close
  2. Hall & Ball - it's like a double act from the 80s - Rock on Johnny
  3. It's changed recently so if you are browsing the listing, eg a Stingray might have a price of £175 then below is "or best offer" but then when you go into the listing, the starting price is £175 and the BIN is £900 or best offer
  4. When I got my Harley Benton 75 Jazz I had a lot of parts left over from other basses so it now has: Hipshot Ultralites Schaller Straplocks Fender '62 & '74 pickups Solderless wiring loom form Six String Supplies D'addario Pro Steels That's about £250 of parts on a £140 bass. I would never have bought the parts especially for this bass ordinarily but they've turned a good bass into a great one. It's really the best Jazz I've ever played.
  5. I've decided to go back to using a cable so am selling my Line6 & RXT06 wireless receiver. This has the added advantage over the stock receiver in that as well as the usual 1/4" output it also has it's own balanced DI output. I used this to take a signal straight to the desk. I am looking for £60 ono. Postage will be £6. The Ebay buyer decided to back out so the G30 back up for sale here for £90 ono.
  6. They did a Modern Player Telecaster made in China a couple of years back that was kind of close but no where near as stunning as this one
  7. Not wanting to be a bigger buzz kill than Buzz Killington - I could probably say that about most things posted in this section. Now a Bass V - now there's a story 🤠
  8. I completely agree - it makes no financial sense to reproduce these. The masses want Precisions, Jazzes, Strats & Teles so that's what Fender make
  9. I've actually always wanted one of these. When you think about it they are ridiculous, having only 15 frets and the same range as a 4 string but I still want one but I like the odd balls from the 60s & 70s like these:
  10. The first thing I do to all of my basses whether they need it or not is fit Hipshot Ultralites. I like to play with my bass at almost a 45 degree angle to help keep my wrists straight and as well as losing a few grams in weight, they help to balance the bass better. The second thing is a wide, padded strap set at the correct height as the height of the strap can affect how the bass feels. The third is to move around as much as you can. I'm not talking about busting out your old 70's TOTP Legs & Co funky dancing but any movement will help shift the bass around as you play. My Harley Benton Jazz weighs 9.8lbs but is incredibly comfortable on long gigs thanks in part to these things.
  11. That was pre-Basschat and well before I knew what an efficient cab was. To be fair I was playing alongside a huge Ritchie Blackmore fan who had about 5 of his signature Strats and about 8 Marshall 4x12"s on stage.
  12. It was a bad gig that began the revolving door of gear with me around 2007. It was a loud stage and my Trace 1153 and GK 800RB were too quiet so out they went along with a Trace Elliot T-Bass 5 string and Stingray 5.
  13. As opposed to Brian Johnson who simply looked like he was trying to drop the kids off 😀
  14. They crop up on Ebay from time to time but usually come from the USA. If you're lucky they fall under the radar of Royal Fail but I wasn't. They were both still sealed in Fender packaging, I'm guessing that they were for repairs rather than sale as they didn't come in the usual packaging
  15. I happened to have brand new 62 neck and 74 bridge pickups unused in my parts box and decided to use them on my Harley Benton and it is now, without a doubt, the best sounding jazz I have ever played. The Radial Bassbone does help but cor blimey guvnor it's good.
  16. I think I may have priced this a tad too high so price reduced to £750 ono plus postage
  17. It looks like an irregularly shaped white jelly bean
  18. My Korg DT10 is exactly the same, I have to give it it's own power supply or it just makes noise
  19. I recently bought a Radial Tonebone Bassbone and am absolutely blown away by how good it is - 2 channel, 3 band EQ, HPF, effects loop with blend control, boost/mute facility and a fantastic DI
  20. I'd rather stuff wasps up my bum than go to an outdoor festival I like a calm, relaxed atmosphere so generally go for the seated part of a concert. The idea of rolling around a muddy field completely out of my gourd never appealed to me. I always remember going to see Madness a few years ago, again in the seated bit. At one point my wife turned to me and asked why they were throwing pints of lager up in the air at the standing section. I pointed out that a pint was about £7 so have another guess what it was 😁
  21. I have decided to sell my Geddy Lee Jazz bass. I had put this up for sale a few months ago but ended up really enjoying it so started using it but I've found something else I like now ( you know how it is 😀 ) This is one of the Limited Edition Geddy Lee Jazz basses made between 1998 and 2004 before they became the artist series. the reason that the title shows 1998 and 2003 is because the neck plate dates the bass to 1998 (woohoo) but the stamp on the neck is dated 2003 ( Eh?) so in traditional Fender tradition the carpet don't match the drapes as it were. This one also apparently has real blocks as opposed to painted ones of the later models but without dissecting the neck it would be impossible to know for sure. Condition wise for a 21 or 16 year old bass it's looking pretty good. There are some dings and dongs on the body, a few wee marks on the binding on the neck that can't really be felt when playing and I'm not entirely sure what happened to the underside of the headstock as it's a bit rough but you can't see it when you play (unless you play with it over your head for some reason or you are a lefty and prefer righty instruments. The worst ding is on the body just below the bridge pickup and there are a few lighter ones elsewhere but nothing through to the wood. When I got it, it had a scratchy volume control and being terrible at soldering I bought a solderless prewired harness for it which uses wee screws to secure the pickup and earth wires (there are lots of earth wires as it has the brass plates under the pickups which are also earthed) This harness has split shafts and the original had solid shafts so I bought new knobs for it. The bad new, if it bothers you, is that my wife "tidied away" the original harness and knobs so they're probably in a landfill somewhere being circled by gulls, underneath a Mr Sparkle soap box. Anyway, the neck is the fantastic slim Geddy neck that you want (or you wouldn't be looking at this ad would you?), it also has the obligatory and no longer available Badass II bridge and the pickups are the original cloth wired jobbies. Sound wise, it does the great Geddy punchy bark but don't think that you're stuck playing YYZ or Roll the Bones all night, it's just a great Jazz bass in its own right. I've been using it with my wedding/function band and it sounds incredible. I don't have a bag for this but I have a lot of packaging thanks to a splurge at Thomann & BAX so have proper bass boxes and those wee air pillow paddy things to keep it secure in transit. Alternatively I can also meet up within reason or the buyer is welcome to come and collect it. Postage will be around £35 but I can get a proper quote for anyone interested. The weight is a reasonable 9.6lbs or 4.35kgs
  22. Bought brand new in April 2016, this has been my main bass for the past 3 years. The reason I bought it was that I had been suffering from a dodgy shoulder and my Stingray 5 with Ceramic pickup was quite heavy so decided to change to the Sterling which shares the same ceramic pickup and electronics as the SR5 had. It's been a fantastic bass and has performed as you would expect a top US made bass to perform. Condition wise, this bass is in almost perfect condition. There are absolutely no chips or such like on the bass. The only marks I can find are scratches on the scratchplate (which means it's doing its job), a very light scratch on the body that can only be seen in the right light and a very small, and I mean tiny indentation on the back of the body. There might be other marks but they will be so small that I could not see them while looking at the bass. I have had Hipshot Ultralites fitted to this bass but the original Musicman tuners have been fitted back on. There will be 1 hole under each tuner should you take them off which may or may not come in handy if you want to fit a set yourself This bass also comes with it's Music Man branded hard case which, like the bass is in near perfect condition due to not having been taken out of the house since I bought it in April 2016. Also included is all of the case candy that came with the bass including EBMM string wipes and stickers in their original sealed packages plus the all important key for the case which is usually the first thing that gets lost. I have tried to take as many pictures as I can to capture the condition of the bass. It really is in almost new condition as I have always looked after my equipment and it has never been anywhere near the inside of a band van or truck, always transported by myself in my car and is the last thing to come out at a gig and first to get packed away. I'm not looking for any trades and am happy to post, meet up within reason or have the new buyer collect the bass. Postage will be around the £35 mark but I can get quotes for any interested buyers. I have lots of packaging thanks to a shopping spree at Thomann. The weight is coming in at a shoulder friendly 8.8lbs or 3.99kgs. I'm not in any hurry to sell and am open to reasonable offers.
