I absolutely detest dings, chips, cracking paint etc whether done by years of use, neglect or intentionally to get a certain look so I couldn't even consider anything vintage. But that's just the OCD 1, 2, 3, 4 OCD 1, 2, 3, 4 OCD

As soon as something new arrives the old one must go. There's no thought into maybe using it in the future, it just hast to be sold and fast. Ironically I now have the most basses I've had in years (4)

EBMM Sterling - main bass
Cort GB94 - rehearsals, spare and spit & sawdust venues
Fender Acoustic - driven to it by the number of venues with unrealistic sound limiters (one gig in July has 85dB limit )
Swift fretless - practice in the house and to remind myself why I don't need a fretless for gigging
Just managing to catch up with long overdue feedback. Bought an OC-2 from Andy - well packaged and exactly what I needed. Highly recommended

Just completed a trade with Chris. I sent a bass to him and he sent me one back using the same box, absolutely no problems whatsoever and completely trustworthy. I wouldn't hesitate to do the same in the future if a similar situation came up

After careful consideration I've decided to go with the TGI Extreme from Bass Gear. They are doing it for £37 delivered with a free clip on tuner. Thanks for all of the suggestions, hopefully this thread will come in handy for anyone else looking for a gig bag in this price bracket

Thanks everyone for the ideas so far I had a Warwick crosswalker which had the detachable rucksack but was very similar to the one in the link but it was a while ago so I hadn't thought about that one. I like the protection racket one from the point that it looks like the shoulder straps can be tucked out of the way as I'd never use them. I have a soft spot for anything Fender so I'll have another look at that one again. If I come across any others I'll post them up here as well
This http://www.thomann.d...g_e_bass_br.htm A lot of bag for the money, I've had mine for a good few months and they are probably too much bag if you are loading the car very carefully.,,as in overkill. Very padded and seem quite capable of being hardwearing but not had mine long enough to really say. Not flimsily made at all...
Even if I bought nothing else that's still only coming to £34 delivered. I particularly like the velcro neck holdy thing but I'm not keen on the glove puppet style pockets

3 or 4 screw machine heads.... (Worst topic title ever?)
Delberthot replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
I originally had Hipshot ultralites on my BB1025 and they only have 1 screw, which handily enough goes into the hole to the right hand side meaning no drilling required to fit them. I doubt it would make enough of a difference, if any, to be noticable The reason for the difference is that the BB425 and BB1025 are made in the same factory so will use the same parts. The BB2025 is made in Japan so must use differently sourced parts. That's probably it. -
I love my Musicman Sterling and I love the case that it comes with but the case is just too big to fit in the boot of my car and it won't fit lengthwise in front of the back seats so I'm looking for a gig bag. I've had a look at the £100+ ones but personally don't need anything as expensive as a Mono, I just need it to offer protection while it is in the car. I load the car myself and no one touches anything except me. If I ever put my gear in the van then I'd use the case. The bass either sits on top of the other gear in the boot or on the back seat strapped in. I don't need big front pockets, or any at all if that was a possibility, and I don't need to carry my bass on shoulder straps or for any great distance. I've been looking at these: TGI Bass Extreme SKB 1SKB-G434 Does anyone have any experience of either of these bags or are there other in this price range (up to £50ish) that would do the job? I really liked the quality of the one that came with the Yamaha BB1025 but can't seem to find them available to buy on their own.

After years of listening to the man and reading interviews I could never get why he was held in such high regard. I'd heard some of his stuff and I thought he was ok but tonight for the first time I watched this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Ea5RtNwa0 Now I understand.

What are you listening to right now?

I know what you've said about boutique but personally nothing can touch Lollars for vintage P bass pickups

Lightweight tuners, how much difference do they really make?
Delberthot replied to a topic in Accessories and Misc
Try an opposite approach, perhaps..? Hang a suitable 100g weight from a tuner key,and see if any difference can be felt..? A muslin bag with rice in it, or whatever can be cobbled up. If there's a noticeable negative effect, it could be assumed there'd be an equivalent positive effect upon changing the set..?
Alternatively, hang same bag from the strap pin nearest the bridge. Would that emulate losing the weight from the headstock? I'm so convinced that they make a difference that I took a drill to my brand new £1500 Sterling. Bought the licenced ones from a seller in the US for about £50 -
Quite Interesting. My 1980s Marlin Sidwinder maker is there. Terrible bass but I learned on it and played many gigs with it. Now fretless and in a gig bag in the loft.
My first bass was a Marlin Slammer which was a red precision with maple fretboard. Complete with peeling chrome on the bridge. Funnily enough mine ended up fretless, finishless and eventually in the bin to be replaced with a Riverhead Jupiter by the time I was 16

I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks so would like to arrange a sale before then otherwise I'll need to withdraw it while I'm away. I'd like to have the bass with it's new owner and everything hunky dory well before I go. As before, open to trades on 4 strings - fretted or fretless (just need a decent backup 4 string bass), alternatively lightweight 100-200w combos (I'll be needing one for the acoustic sets with the band). Trades would need to be with cash my way or feel free to make me a reasonable cash offer

Bass EQ PEdals - How do you personally use yours?
Delberthot replied to AinsleyWalker's topic in Effects
I normally play fingerstyle but when I had one of these pedals I used it to adjust the sound when switching to using a plectrum. Saved faffing around with the controls on the bass or the amp -
I'd like to sell but not desparate to. My biggest problem is that as soon as I get something new the old one must go and go fast I played this at a wedding fair today and I've decided that I'm definitely not going to keep it, regardless of what I might say between now and the actual sale. Fantastic bass, just not for me anymore but I'm glad I bought it and have enjoyed playing it very much.

My 2p, yes, go for it!
Alternatively if you're like me and quite frankly terrible with a soldering iron you could go for something like this

After last night's gig I'm now thinking trades of something 4 string - fretted or fretless It needs to be something relatively light - Yamaha RBX-A2, Bass Collection, Ibanez - I wouldn't say no to a straight swap for a US EBMM Sterling Alternatively, these are just things that I would like as trades but don't really need - cash is king so feel free to PM me a sensible offer.
