    I have for sale the bridge that originally came with my Fender Precision FSR Deluxe Special. It is in immaculate condition and comes with the original 5 screws. It's an original Fender part and more substantial than the usual BBOT one. I am looking for offers around £50 including UK mainland postage.     I have 2 scratchplates for sale: The first one was bought for my Stingray 30th Anniversary as I wanted to keep the original one perfect. I ended up selling the bass as I was so afraid of damaging it. It's a WD Music one in solid black in almost perfect condition barring a small mark on the lower part. It's black/white/black and has a few marks on it but none of them are very noticable once it's fitted etc. There are marks around the holes where the washers would be for some reason. There is also the tiniest of cracks that I had to search for to find near the bottom between the edge and one of the screw holes but it's really tiny and could easily be glued. When it's in situ it's solid and not noticable. I'm looking for around £28 delivered within mainland UK for this one.     This is the last of the pedals I own and have been meaning to sell it for a while now so here it is: It's a Boss OC-3. Excellent condition apart from what appears to be a small nick on the bottom of the back that I only noticed when I went to take pictures. Competely original with no velcro or anything stuck to it.     3 for me: Modulus Flea bass - lusted after one for years but found it a bit meh in both playability and sound Musicman Stingray - I've had about 10 of the things but can't get a sound I like - and before anyone says anything it's a 2002 SR5 I currently have so it's more like a Sterling than a proper ray as it has the same ceramic pickup and electronics as the Sterling Fender Jazz - Always wanted to like these as almost anyone famous I've heard using one gets a great sound but they sound a bit weak compared to other basses whenever I've used one. The only exception being an 80s Fernandes fretless I owned but that had EMGs

    It's been while playing functions and weddings that I realised that a lot of songs that I can't bear to listen to are really good fun to play. Two examples would be Crazy in Love by Beyonce and Uptown Funk. Can't stand listening to them but they're really enjoyable to play and always get people up on the dance floor. Took me a while to get into Le Freak which should've been an obvious one to enjoy playing but it did take some time. Still can't stand Sex on Fire though. It was terrible the first time I heard it and hasn't got any better after playing it a gajillion times. Ditto for Valerie, although I was fortunate enough to dep with a band that did the original Zutons version and really enjoyed playing it.

    Absolutely - what I meant was unique to the current BB series with the 102x and 202x series sharing a different bridge. At the moment I have a real hankering for a fretless and am tempted to remove the frets from this and see if I can manage to squeeze an active circuit in somehow.

    I don't think that it should be mandatory to have the member's location next to their avatar but it's not the first time I've seen an ad and someone has asked if they'd be able to collect and the seller has then gone on to say that they are in mainland Europe somewhere and the member asking the question is in the UK. I've done several deals with members in Mainland Europe and only had one problem ever which was resolved fairly quickly so I don't have a problem dealing with members that far away from me but it would be useful for the seller to reveal a rough location in their advert. I don't need their actual address, just roughly where they are to find out if trying it, meeting up or whatever is possible. At the end of the day if there are no pictures and no location then I won't bother going back into the advert again. I always try to give as much info as possible when selling something and invite questions, not that I can answer all of them, but if I can't then someone on the forum is bound to know the answer. Anyway I'm starting to waffle now but you get the jist.

    I've decided to split the for sale ads up for the BB425 & BB1025 as it was starting to look a bit messy I bought this vintage white BB425 just over a year ago as I had been exclusively playing 4 string basses for some time and wanted to go back to 5 but without the huge financial outlay to make sure that it was the right choice. The BB425 is such a good bass that it replaced my Seafoam Green Fender FSR Precision for gigs. The pickups are very powerful for passive and together they give a very nice P bass tone with the extra highs that you get from the jazz pickup at the neck. Finish is excellent and I couldn't really fault the bass in any way. If I had to compare it to something then it would be something like Fender MIM but one of the higher end models. The bass features the same 5 piece neck that the BB1025 does being constructed of maple and nato. It also features the same string through body bridge of the 1020 and 2020 series basses but has a bridge that I believe is unique to this particular model. Underneath the vintage white is an alder body. This bass comes with the Fender deluxe gig bag that my Precision came with as this model doesn't come with a bag or case. It is currently fitted with a set of light guage Chromes and they're too light for me so I am selling them with the bass. It is in incredibly good condition as anyone who knows me knows that I hate dings, dongs, dinks and any other kind of marks. It was always the last thing to come out at a gig and the first thing I'd pack away. I am looking for around £250 posted within mainland UK for this one.     In the end you will be better off running the 500 at a low volume than running the 100w at full tilt and risk overheating and damaging it.

[/quote] That's one of my favourite bits - the bit where you're either asked to play something you already do in a different key or play something you've never heard before. In the beginning it used to frighten me but I think with experience and confidence I enjoy it a lot more now.

    My experience is similar to Muzz' above. I've been doing it for 21 years and have depped with a couple of wedding/function bands in that time too. Good fun most of the time and there have been many funny moments from people just making complete fools of themselves to the wedding stationary have the couple's names as "Steven & Lousie" instead of Louise. Lots of waiting around but if you're with a group of like minded people who enjoy having a laugh and being together then it makes it very enjoyable

    I've had a good look and I can't find my scales anywhere so won't be able to get a weight for either bass. They aren't heavy basses but I wouldn't say that they are super lightweight either. My Stingray feels heavier than either of these basses. Probably of no help unless you own or have owned an SR5 but the best I can do at the moment until my scales turn up.

    My own experience of the Ampegs is that they don't seem as loud as they say they are and conversely the Rumbles are the opposite. For just a practice the 100w should be ok depending on the volume of everyone else but for gigs I would go with at least the 200w one. I use the 500w one for gigs so I know I'll never run out of headroom, plus I'm not driving it hard.

    This bass is the very nice caramel coloured BB1025. This bass has a maple & nato 5 piece neck with nickel silver nut and the front face of the headstock has a vintage tint to it. The neck also feels smoother on this one than the BB425. The body has the same through body stringing option as the rest of the BB range but this body shares the same 3 piece spline jointed body that the BB2025 has. It also shares the same electronics as the BB2025. This time the Precision alnico V pickup is capable of going from really mellow to really aggressive and the ceramic jazz pickup increases the top end and bite to the sound. This is about as close as you can get to the BB2025 without spending big bucks. Condition is very good and this has been looked after since day 1 as well. If you hold the bass to the light at a certain angle you can see some very, very light surface swirling but other than that the bass is tip top. If I had to compare this to something then it would be one of the top end non-custom shop Fenders This bass comes with the factory supplied Yamaha gig bag which offers really good protection and has the usual pockets and so on. This bass is strung with D'addario EXL165-5 strings. I am looking for £[s]600[/s] £525 posted within mainland UK. The reason I am selling the BB1025 is it is far to be good to sit on a stand and not get played but at the same time I'm not in a desperate hurry to sell it.     I believe that this is a Made in Japan EX series Stingray if you check out [url="http://www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0008.htm"]this page[/url] about half way down which would explain the missing info on the back of the headstock I'm not sure if it was just the hardware or everything that was Made in the USA and shipped to Japan for final assembly and setup.

    I've been contemplating selling the BB1025 and possibly the BB425 after it but I went through phases of buying and selling and buying the same again so I don't want to make the same mistake again. I spent a long time deciding on the BB1025 but since I got the Stingray I haven't used it live, in fact it's only been out of the bag once and that was to take the Chromes off and put them on the Stingray. I don't need the Yamaha, I don't need the money and I don't need to free up space but I feel that if I don't use it then there's no point in having such a great bass as a backup that may never get used. I can see me renewing my sellers subscription on here before long if I can't make up my mind one way or the other and let fate (or another member looking for one) decide.

[/quote] Not to jump to Fender's defence but they must have shifted many thousands of these by now and at one point were out of stock everywhere. They are cheap for what they are and it's only inevitable that some of them will fail. I was one of many who had a failed Ampeg PF500 but many are still gigging theirs very happily and there are others who have had failed Terror Bass amps. I also agree that it's a completely different sound to a big manly rock rig. Prior to owning mine I had a Hartke LH1000 and Laney NX115 & NX410 and the sound was very grindy, loud and deep. I have no doubt that the combo couldn't keep up with the big rig but it's a fraction of the size with a fraction of the speakers and many other things that couldn't be further from one another but on it's own it's loud enough for everything I do and sounds incredible with the Stingray & Yamaha. If I played in a rock band I'd get the matching 2x10" cab but I don't need it. I'd describe the sound as tight, focussed and punchy but plug a different bass in and adjust a few controls and someone else could get flabby, indistinct and wooly. It also depends on what you're used to and if you're the kind of person who buys a new amp only to try to make it sound like your old one and are disappointed when it sounds nothing like the old one. It happens with amps and basses - I'm sure we're all guilty of it and one time or another

    Sorry, I only just saw the two posts regarding my stand. It's one of [url="http://www.staggmusic.com/en/product_detail/mxs-a3.html?backp=2"]these [/url] I have a strap that goes round the whole combo and stand as it doesn't look steady but it's never moved since I got it just over a year ago. It folds flat and can go quite high. I have mine at it's highest setting so that it's closest to ear level. I've also thought about an extension cab but haven't been in a situation where I needed it. When used as a monitor I have the input gain at 3 and the output at 3 - it's that loud. I had thought about getting a Rumble 200 for smaller gigs as I have trouble getting this quiet enough sometimes while still sounding good

    Almost anything these days is good enough to learn on as long as it's comfortable and can be adjusted to suit My first bass (also at 12) was a Marlin Slammer complete with peeling chrome on the bridge and I plugged into a Squier 15w guitar combo via a yellow curly cable

    Another vote for the Rumble 500 combo. Been using mine for the last year and it's been fantastic. I have also used the GK MB combos with 2x10" cab but they felt a bit fragile to me and sold them quite quickly
