It seems to be the old favourites and anything that's flavour of the month that seems to sell quickly- not always of course. I hadn't heard of Mayones until a couple of months ago and had the chance to try one in Guitar Guitar in Edinburgh and they seem to be very well made.
Honest to god , this is a rediculas bargain, people I can't tell you how good these basses are..... Playability is fantastic, sound is better than a stingray in my op..... Nice short feel but with same scale length, like a ray on roids with a jazz neck ! Put flats on it and I guarantee it be one of the slickest bass out there. I have many basses, all off which where cased never to see the light of day again the day I got my sterling. If I didn't have one already I'd snatch your hand off for this at this price. Do not confuse this with the "sterling by musician" .... A million miles apart. Good luck with the sale buddy.
Totally agree with this I bought mine because I loved the Stingray 5 ceramic pickup sound but not the weight of it and no longer needed the B so bought one of these. Nice small body, slim neck and the amazing sound from the ceramic pickup I had Chromes on my SR5 and it was pretty amazing. I've had about a dozen Stingrays and they always disappointed me but the sound I knew I wanted was in the ceramic pickup of these babies. This is a mad crazy price. If I had the money I'd buy it myself to have a matching pair -
I completely agree, this is a crazy price for this bass. That is why I've set the minimum amount I am willing to accept. I'd also be up for a meet up somewhere if you are too far from me and don't want it couriered for the cost of my fuel which is pretty reasonable - my current car is getting about 50mpg. I'm willing to drive an hour in any direction so that would be probably Dundee heading north to Abington services heading south on the A74

I agree. Some fantastic theme tunes from Mr H

I'm having a real conflict here - I really don't need this bass but it's still a great bass so in another trademark change of heart, I've reduced the price to £525 posted within mainland UK but this is as low as I can go. I may be interested in trades for other 4 string basses so please PM me before I change my mind again Trades would have to be with cash my way as I'm going on holiday in a few weeks time. All spare cash is being turned into Euros at the moment Check out this clip with a direct comparison between the BB1025 & BB2025. I can't really tell much of a difference despite the huge difference in price

Tribute bands - is this normal?
Delberthot replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in General Discussion
That Bon Jovi one rings a bell. Is it the acoustic one? That guy has been advertising every few days on a FB group I'm a member of for quite some time. I admire his perseverance, but I don't think there are enough musicians in Edinburgh to fulfill his needs. I did see a Hendrix tribute advertised on Gumtree. They were looking for guitars (!), bass, drums and vocalist. Like your Nickelback case, who was doing the asking?! Some tribute bands, like Australian Pink Floyd, use more musicians than the original band to recreate the studio sound a bit better. I quite like Pink Floyd myself, so if I wanted to make the Edinburgh Pink Floyd Tribute would be looking for a guitarist, keyboard player and drummer, which would probably look a little odd on an advert! Add a second guitarist, sax player, vocalist and three backing singers for good measure.
And a percussionist -
That's alright then, I'll calm myself down! (*Mumbles to himself*... "still don't know why Sara Lee wasn't mentioned... bloody lists for this and that and the other etc etc and no Sara Lee...")
Maybe because of her horrendous chocolate gateauxs? -
Really? I thought that this was a genuine product designed in conjunction with the great engineer Dr Yousef Binhad

I've had my Brooklyn Gear strap for about 10 years and it's been great but I'm finding it a bit less cushiony than it used to be. Wonder if the neoprene eventually compresses over time so it offers less protection? So I've just ordered a Neotech one

I was going to suggest a Gotoh 201 bridge as well or if you want it to still look like a regular one the Gotoh 203 is pretty substantial while still looking original

I wear wrist splints to bed every night for my carpal tunnel and it seems to be helping keep it under control. I'm not having my hands clamp up as much as they used to and the pins and needles have subsided but it took a good few months of using them before they had a noticeable effect. Might be worth a try

I think it was John Wetton I saw with Asia using a thumb pick, which might be handy as you don't have to hold it at all

Replace my trace, New amp shopping " Andertons "
Delberthot replied to synthaside's topic in Amps and Cabs
If you like your Trace sound then keep it and tell the guitarists to turn down if you couldn't hear the drummer -
I had looked at that and they are meant to be very good but I don't think that it's what I'm after. If you've never had one of these BB1025s before then you won't know what all of the fuss is about but this is an amazing bass so I'm probably going to run this to the end of the week and then hold onto it.

I've owned 4, 5, 6, 8 & 12 string basses over the years but for the past few years I've only played 4 strings so I bought a Yamaha BB425 to find out if I wanted to get back into playing a 5 string. Once I did I bought my BB1025. The 425 was a fantastic bass but the 1025 is so much better to me in terms of fit and finish and sound. Now I've decided that due to a number of factors I'm going back to a 4 string again so the 425 has been sold and the 1025 is for sale now. I don't think that you can really go wrong with Yamahas. Haven't really heard much about the RBX series but the BBs seem to get great reviews across the board. At the end of the day, as has been said before, if you're happy with your BBN5 then stick with it but if you want to get something better then go for it. Prior to about 2006 I had 3 basses. I joined Talkbass in 2006 and Basschat in 2007 and since then I've had well over 100 now. Not at the same time, I think I may have had 7 at one point but generally I have 2 at any one time
-
Another +1 for Yamahas. My BB1025 is no problem for my stubby fingers. I'm only selling mine as funnily enough I'm moving back to 4 strings permanently or it wouldn't be going anywhere.

Which Strings? Constructive String advice please
Delberthot replied to Grangur's topic in Repairs and Technical
For about the past 5 or 6 years I've had a thing for D'addario Chromes. I love the feel of them. They're smooth to the touch, still have enough bite and last for a very long time. The ECB80 40-95 are too floppy for me. I tend to play quite hard and they clack and rattle away quite a bit meaning that I have to raise the action quite a bit to compensate. The ECB81 45-100 are a really good gauge for me. I can dig in and get minimal clack plus the increased tension means that I can drop the action a fair bit but when I've used them on a bass where I was dropping the E to D I found that I had to use a 110 gauge E string instead. I still like to use rounds from time to time but having used flats for so long they have to have the right feel to them. I use the D'addario XL nickels. The EXL165 45-105 gauge is to me as close as you can get to the ECB81 Chromes as far as tension goes. The XLs are widely regarded as one of the smoothest on the fingers roundwound strings you can get without going for compressed or groundwound ones. They last a good long time as well. I got a good 20 gigs out of a set before I changed them for a set of Chromes. That was wedding gigs so 3-4 hours a time. I've just bought myself a new bass and when the strings go dead on it I am going to give the XL balanced tension strings a shot. Probably the EXL170BT set Over the years I've bought a ton of strings and have settled on D'addarios as being the best ones for me in terms of cost, value for money, tension and sound -

I've found that since I've lost a bit of weight I have a hell of a lot more energy now and I've still got a fair old bit to lose. I walk around 30 miles a week and am on my feet most of my working week so standing for a couple of hours at the weekend doesn't seem so bad. Eating sensibly is a big one for me. Eat junk and your body will feel sluggish and lethargic more quickly than if you eat things that are good for you. Drinking plenty of water is also huge. Chances are when you're playing you're sweating so you need to drink as much as you reasonably can as dehydration will make you tired and more likely to make mistakes and you will begin to struggle to concentrate. the opposite is that you drink so much water you have to excuse yourself half way through a set, much to the amusement of the singer who proceeds to tell everyone in the audience and makes "flushing" noises over the pa I probably drink 6 500ml bottles of water during a wedding gig plus more before and after.
