I got GAK to match this price. I got Roqsolid to adjust the dimensions of the cover as whoever submitted the original ones had an eye like a stinking haddock. It was a mile off. Took me 40 minutes to get it accurate - they're also offering a discount as of today going by the email I received today.

I bought one of these myself last month. Don't worry about pushing it, you won't have to as this is one loud combo. I only had to use the 15" cab under it for one gig but that was in a room that held 400 people with no PA support and it didn't break a sweat. I am planning on doing a review of it but I want to do more gigs with it before then. Contrary to popular opinion, I use mine on a stand and there is plenty of bottom end, plus I don't have to run it as loud as I would if it was on the floor to hear myself. Cool - I'm going to do it at the weekend. I normally use kitchen worktop veneer edging as it's not going to compress when I tighten the screws. I might be lucky and find that someone put a shim in at the factory as can often happen and removing this will do exactly what I need.

I've just learned Crazy in Love for a new band and while I enjoy playing it, I had to listen to the live version as this is the version that we do. To say it was cringeworthy would be an understatement. Great performer? Possibly. Great singer? Not live anyway. I think the idea being that if you fill the stage with enough people doing different things it will detract form the fact that you can't sing. And I heard stuff happening that I couldn't see anyone singing or playing. I too couldn't name a single song by old Westy but to do what he did is just childish. I agree he should start his own awards show where every award should be presented to Beyonce as she deserves it doesn't she? That would keep him happy and away from everyone else. Personally some rap stuff does sound pretty childish - the use of harpsichords, nursery rhymes, tired old rapper phrases, overuse of the word "yeah" Rock Star? Bollocks more like it. The ability to sample someone else's songs and add your dodgy, aggressive poetry over the top does not make you a rock star. There are a couple of exceptions but they are few and far between - eg Rage Against The Machine

I've just gone through a similar quandry I was in a fantastic rock band. We played a few weddings during the year as well but I got talking to a group of guys I had known for years The short story is that we decided to get together to form a new wedding/function band. I'd have loved to have stayed in both bands but the wedding band is just far too busy and it wouldn't be fair on the rock band to dictate when I was free. Otherwise I'd have stayed in both bands

I'm in the process of setting up my Yamaha BB425 properly but the one thing I have noticed is that even with the string height adjusted, the saddles are still pretty high resulting in a huge break angle for the strings I've installed shims on basses before but only when the saddles have bottomed out before reaching the desired string height- is it possible to put the shim in the neck pocket at the end nearest the headstock to bring the angle back slightly so that I can drop the saddles? Would this have any adverse affect on the bass other than I would notice a slight gap between the neck and the pocket?

I'd agree. I normally use 45s but when using flats I always go for 40s. The Chromes are higher tension but I find I can drop the action a fair bit with them and play a bit lighter.

Another song I have just learned is Footloose played by one of my all time favourite bass players, Nathan East. I had played it for years but no where near the original and I wanted to learn it properly with the new band I have recently joined so I found the Youtube video below. If you go to the guy's website he has even transcribed it so I was able to read the part rather than keep stopping and starting the clip to get the correct notes. Thanks for the tips. The problem is that I have EMGs fitted to the bass and the pots that come with it with the push fit cables are quite a bit bigger than standard

I recently bought a new scratchplate for my Precision so that it has 3 holes instead of the 4 the original one came with. It's a perfect fit except the blend pot which is where the output jack normally lives won't fit inside the control cavity. What's the best way to enlarge the cavity to make it fit? I don't want to go to the expense of buying a router for such a small job as I'd never use it again. I had thought about a rasp and file set but don't want to trash the bass

The Fender Rumble 500 combo is only 16.5kgs and I picked mine up at GAK. They pricematched a German website so I got mine for £425. Also has a speaker out for running another cab

It's quite hard to get used to but I sleep on my side with my arms straight kind of like a seal for want of a better description (as I found having my arms bent for long periods can aggrevate it). I still move during the night and get the numbness but I just stick my arm out of the bed pointing to the floor and make fists and it soon eases off. I drink a lot of water, use low sodium salt and take multivitamins + iron and a cod liver oil capsule daily I badly want to avoid the surgery as it's 6 weeks where you can't do anything with that particular hand and from what I've heard from others and read, it's no guarantee that it won't come back.

I've never seen a blueburst Fender before but you get them on the cheap copies found in Crack Generator

I didn't like the 1001RB as much as the 700RB. I found I couldn't get the 1001 loud enough without overpowering everything else to get the proper GK growl that I could with the 700

I got my Epiphone Thunderbird because there was very little taper in the neck, similar to a Rick. They may have changed it but the standard one had a Precision width nut and the Goth had a Jazz width nut. I can't remember what the neck on the Epi Les Paul was like. Good thing about those basses is if you don't like the sound you can fire EMG soapbars straight in. There's no room for a battery so it would need to be the HZs which I had in my Thunderbird and they worked very well

When I did one to a knackered Hondo II Rick copy I used a Kahler bridge as it can be adjusted a million ways to get the string spacing correct. What I did for the nut was to buy one with the grooves just slightly marked out. I began with cutting the outer B & G strings using the grooves that were already there, put the A bang in the middle then cut the E & D strings in between those
