1. I've had very few cables go faulty on me ever but the ones that have have all been right angled ones and it was the jack that was at fault every time so now I only use straight ones
2. Ach, what the hell. It's Christmas: Come to my door with £575 cash and the 4x10", LH1000, top quality speaker lead and mains lead are yours. Come with £750 and you can have the 4x10", 1x15", Hartke LH1000, two top quality speaker cables and a mains lead for the amp. That's the lowest I can go. I will hold onto it all if it doesn't sell for that as that's about half what it would cost you new Trade value for the 4x10" & LH1000 is £600 and £800 for both cabs and the amp
3. It's like the assembly instructions you get on Chinese made furniture "It turns with the smoothness of the fingers"
4. I'm sure someone was selling a TL6 a year or 2 ago on the forum for £600 so that's cheap if easily fixable Always wanted a Rudy Szarzo Peavey
5.
I'm looking for something approximately half of (or considerably less than) the BAM's back-breaking 42kg mass.
That's about the combined weight of my 4x10" and the Hartke which is a heavy amp
6. Parcelmonkey aren't the courier so check who they are using for this. See how much UPS will charge. I only use them now for everything gear wise I sell or buy. Tried Interparcel but they won't even quote for anything that size from the US USPS are good but it will either fall into the hands of Parcel Farce or My Hermes once it gets to the UK. Neither of which are very good.
7. Last bump before Christmas It's all still for sale but I'm going to let it slide now. I'm in no hurry to sell the best rig I've ever owned - and I've owned a hell of a lot of stuff over the years The combo I am looking at buying won't be in stock until the middle of January so there's no hurry to sell. feel free to ask any questions
8.
We only have a small vocal PA. Guitar and bass go off backline alone
This is why I currently have the setup in my sig that is for sale. more speakers moving more air and a bloody big amp to drive them. The rock band don't do many weddings so only have a vocal pa.. The new band has a full pa so I don't need all of that. Keeping the 15" just in case I'm depping with a band with only vocal pa.
9. As used by Jimmy Haslip and one of my favourites, Nathan East. Might have to try out a set when my Yamaha arrives
10. I'm also looking for an alternative to the Schallers that I normally use. Finding it slightly painful trying to pull out the tiny pin and push down at the same time to remove the strap. Plus the nut comes loose every so often and I invariably forget to tighten it after the gig so go to the next gig with it still loose. These look like there is something more substantial to hold onto and they pull straight out so no trying to pull the strap in two directions at once
11.
I went from 4-strings straight to a 6-string and I've played it exlusively since buying it up until a few days ago when I played a 4-string again. The 4-strings actually feel a little bit like toys now
The first time I picked up a 4 again the neck felt like I was holding a pencil in comparison to the 6, especially the Yamaha
12. I played 5s and 6s for about 15 years before going back to a 4 again but I've just bought myself a BB425 which should be delivered today. I've just joined another wedding/function band after 18 months in a rock band and every time we play Get Lucky I really wish I had that B. Anything higher than that I don't bother about as I have a D tuner on the Precision. I did have a TRB6-II fretless which doubled as an ironing board. Man that neck was wide. Always loved the old BB4000 & 5000 so that's part of the reason I went with the 425. Plus I like the idea of the hot output from the pickups and minimal controls
13. I'm going from a rock band with two guitarists to a function/wedding band and plan on buying a Rumble 500 combo. There's the option to add a second cab for bigger gigs so I plan on keeping my 15" Laney cab if possible.
14. Thanks - it does sound really good but I just don't need it as I was in the position of being in a rock band with two guitarists when I bought it but have just joined a new band. I've just found the original valve. it's a Russian Sovtek, which I will include in the sale of the amp if you'd rather have that. Turns out the valve I put in the amp is a JJ ECC83S. I'm not currently looking for trades unless it's for a current version Fender Rumble 500 combo in excellent condition
15. That's me all gigged out for this year so this will all sit now in the hall cupboard until the end of January before I need it again. For meet ups you have the choice of any day between today and the 23rd of December and then the 26th. After that it will be it from the 5th January onwards as I will be enjoying the Christmas spirits so won't go anywhere near the car. I am open to reasonable offers. I could be tempted with a bass and cash depending on the bass as I already have the money sitting to get my combo when they finally get them back in stock. I think that the biggest problem with the Laney cabs is that where do you buy them? Who do you know that has them? Famous artists using them? I've put some serious volume through these cabs and always listen carefully but they have never sounded like they were being pushed too much. Personally, I see them as a modern day Trace Elliott. They're loud, sound good, are practically indestructible but weigh a lot less. Each cab can be used on it's own for a high quality single cab setup or together for a high powered, monster setup. If I wasn't changing bands I would be keeping all of it - this rig was the reason that I disappeared from the forum for over a year as it covered every gig for me from the smallest bar gig to the largest venue. I would like to keep the 15" cab in case I have a dep that requires a larger rig but am happy to let it go with the other cab or the other cab & amp as they sound incredible together.
16.
As for the whole Fender logo thing, AFAIK no puppies or kittens have drowned as a result of it. People who get their knickers in a twist about it should maybe divert their energies elsewhere. World peace, or something.
Seriously? Would've expected better from a moderator All it takes is for one person to pass one off as the real thing and Fender will come down on Limelight like a f***ing anvil. If I was offering what Limelight are I would want people to know what it was, not just handwritten marker on the back of the headstock but on the front as well so everyone could see who's handywork it was. They appear to be really good basses, well made and pretty authentic or they may just be the latest fad/emperors new clothes or whatever. Whatever they are, if they're doing the job you want them to do and look the part then who cares.
17. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't like anything that has marks, chips dings, dongs or dents but I accept that there are people who like that kind of look. I can understand what Spacey is getting at. It's one thing to be making a Fender copy, there are loads of manufacturers doing it from the cheapest far east stuff to Sadowsky but what makes these Limelight basses stand out is that they have Fender logos. This, to me, essentially makes them counterfeits or fakes. They're not being sold as Fenders but they still have the Fender logo on them and neck plates with serial numbers. They could've done something along the lines of the Fecker Pretender or Imprecision that guys on the forum have but they've gone for the proper Fender logo. Again, I'm not having a go at their quality or the relic look, just that they've not even tried to make them their own brand but have instead used the real thing. Me, I'd rather have a shiny new Warmoth
18. I will be using the NX115 & the Hartke LH1000 tomorrow night in Binkies in Edinburgh. I also plug the amp into the house Ampeg cab. This is what I mentioned earlier about being able to mix and match impedencies - The Laney is 8ohm and the Ampeg is 4ohm but because it has 2 separate power amps it doesn't matter. On Friday night I will be in the Duchess in Kirckaldy and this is likely to be the last gig of the year so you can have it all. I might take both cabs and the LH1000 even though there is a mental PA system there just for the hell of it. I have now sold my Orange Terror Bass and my Ashdown MAG400 so this is the only amp I have. I have one gig left and that is this Friday 19th so I will need it for that. I have checked the courier website and if someone were to buy it and need it couriered I can have it collected on Monday and it will get to you before Santa comes. I would still prefer collection or meet up for the NX410 as I will need to find cardboard to get it wrapped up. I can do it but, again, it may be Monday before I have it ready as i want to pack it properly. I have identified one possible trade and that is for a Fender Rumble V3 500 combo. If anyone has one and they're looking to go large and loud then I'd be interested to hear from you regarding a trade. It must be in mint condition and ideally have a cover. A new band with a full pa means I don't need all of this. the reason I would like to keep the NX115 is for any dep gigs I do with no pa support so that I can connect this to the combo
19. I think we're all like that at the moment. Roll on next Tuesday
20. I had one of these a few years ago. They are fantastic cabs
21. My first 5 string was a white 405 passive model. I must admit that I am tempted but really need to sell off my other amps and cabs first though. If I remember rightly, these are quite light.
22. That is absolutely stunning
23. I'd ideally like to keep a hold of the 15" cab so will only sell it in combination with the other cab or with the other cab and the amp NX410 = £310 collected/meet up LH1000 = £320 collected/meet up NX410 & LH1000 = £600 collected/meet up NX115 & NX410 = £500 collected/meet up NX115, NX410 & LH1000 = £790 collected/meet up I am open to offers within reason. At this moment in time I'm not looking for any trades but you can still try me. You might have something that I didn't know I wanted or needed
