I can honestly say in the 34 years I've been playing I've never even thought about the way a bass was constructed - it's either bolt-on, set neck or neck through depending on what I've bought at the time. I tend to buy basses cos they're shiny or just look nice. I think some people are overthinking this - as Maude said above, if it matters to you then buy something else that suits you.

You can put the Two Notes CAB M pedal between your amp and cab. this would allow you to get the preamp tone from your amp that you like, send that sound plus a cab sim to the PA via the XLR out but get your usual sound through your speaker

I'm not a huge fan of wild overdrive so one of the things that I love about this pedal is that you can mix the Fet and Tube sides. I prefer mainly Fet with a little bit of Tube added in for grit.

Why not get another jazz bass in a colour you like and buy a set of Pure Vintage '64 pickups and concentric Jazz Bass wiring? That would pretty much get you the sound you have but in the bass of a colour that more suits the band. If you were to respray a Flea bass then it would be worth a fraction of what it would be had you left it.

I have owned this for about 3 weeks. The preamp pedal that I originally ordered went missing on Beef Island (Yes that's actually a place) so after 3 or 4 weeks I contacted the guy I bought it from and got a refund. Suddenly it began moving again, back and forth between various depots in Miami before finally leaving the USA and heading over to me. I contacted the seller again to let them know it was on it's way, finally received it and paid for it. In the meantime I had bought this pedal instead of the missing pedal. I'm really impressed with it. there's a good range of tones available from nice and clean to grindy overdrive and the ability to mix clean and dirty signals together. It has active & passive inputs, an effects loop, aux in and headphone output so you could use it for practicing silently at home. Plus pre and post EQ DI and ground lift. I had toyed with the idea of using both and using this as a dirt pedal but I like to keep things as simple as possible, plus I already have a Boss ODB3, so have decided to sell this one. Any way it's minty fresh with the added bonus of velcro on the underside so it will go straight onto your board. It's never left the house, in fact it's never left my living room. The pictures make it look like it's really dusty but in fact these are white flecks that are part of the design of the graphics on the pedal I am looking for £115 plus postage which comes in at £9 with a choice of either Parcelforce 48 or DPD. Or best offer

I really don't like it but I'm sure a new generation of Chilis fans will though. Someone mentioned something wrong with the mix on Mother's MIlk earlier - seriously, if you have a turntable get it on vinyl. This is isn't a vinyl vs digital etc thing, there's something genuinely superior about the mix that went onto the vinyl as opposed to the CD It's one of my favourite albums. It's their version of Queen's Sheer Heart Attack. It's like the transition from the more fast paced punk to the more funky BSSM just like Sheer Heart Attack was the end of the fairies and Ogres and progressing into more complex rock for Queen

What made you swop from Roundwounds to Flatwounds
Delberthot replied to a topic in Accessories and Misc
I was a fan of flats, particularly D'addario Chromes, until we started using IEMs. No matter how I EQ'd them they just sounded wooly and liefeless. Back to nickel EXLs and happy again I still have Chromes on my LA Lakers jazz bass as this is the bass I use for rehearsals and we a regular practice studio with use backline for those. It means that I never have to change them -
Could be but that probably explains why it can sound more like Tony Franklin than Jaco. I did read the PJ thread regarding having a weak J versus P pickup but I don't think that it affects this bass. Both pickups are incredibly powerful and the individual poles can be adjusted so you can get both pickups giving an even amount of bark. In fact I have the P poles all the way in and the J sticking out.

I used to dep with a wedding band that were so busy that if they got 2 gigs on the same night the guitarist would do one of the gigs with dep drummer, dep bass and dep keys as a second version of the band and the keyboard player would play guitar with the main band. I used to play mainly in the one that was all deps. it was good fun and zero pressure

Harley Benton Spaceship 40 Pedalboard - *SOLD*

I've just bought the second one to power my higher powered pedals plus I can also power my HB Powerplant using an extension out of the other end of the Iso-1. So only 1 mains cable to plug in. I also agree that despite always looking after my gear I prefer the sturdier iec mains lead to a smaller adapter

My Revelation Fretless. Absolutely love the sound of this. Sounds incredible but it just doesn't suit my style of playing

I thought for a brief moment that was a whammy bar then realised it was the bridge earth 😁

Is it actual grooves or just the snail trails that you have on the fingerboard? It normally takes years to wear grooves into fingerboards. It would be interesting to see how bad it is

For the preamp and pickup you should be using 25k pots. 500k pots are more normally used for passive humbuckers. I actually have no idea what effect 500k pots would have but I'm sure that someone will be along to explain. the Aguilar and EMG websites both specify 25k pots

I had to look up what an LT25 was but it's just a practice amp so any instrument cable will be fine. I use more expensive ones for gigging but the one I use in the house was a cheapy from amazon or Ebay with my Fender Rumble 25

I also had one of the active ones but the preamp went faulty so I replaced everything with EMGs and a 2 band BTC System EQ. Also managed to fit 2 9v batteries in the rear cavity by putting them in sideways. Fantastic bass and what started my love for EMG pickups Allegedly these basses also had the same neck as the Geddy Lee Jazz which had recently moved production from Japan to Mexico. It certainly was nice and slim. Certainly nothing beginner about these basses

I have both basses and both basses have been modified with different parts. Looking at them objectively as just a body and neck to modify then they're pretty much the same, the JB75 just looks cooler with the block inlays. They're both about the same weight - i.e. heavy but not too heavy to gig with. My JB75 was used as a test bass for a load of different parts before I had my Warmoth/Status bass made and I gigged it every weekend so it's good enough to gig. I did a few gigs with it in its original, straight from Thomann form and it was still pretty good. My JB20 is my practice bass for home and rehearsals and has a set of Tonerider pickups, Six String Supplies wiring loom, D'addario Chromes, LA Lakers Decal and Hipshot Licenced Ultralites fitted. All parts that I already had from years of modifying basses. One thing that I love about these basses is that they are worth next to nothing second hand so you won't be tempted to sell it further down the line and instead can get good use out of it knowing that it's going nowhere.

I bought this at the end of last year for £849, used it for the Hogmanay gig then put it back in it's Fender gig bag. It is an incredible bass with a nice wide but easy playing neck. Finished in my favourite Fender combination, Dakota red with maple fretboard. the pictures truly do not do the bass justice it is incredibly beautiful. I have fitted Hipshot lightweight tuners and an Xtender on the E at a cost of £200. The originals will be included as well. I set it up and replaced the original strings with my usual D'addario EXL165. Much as I love this bass and love Precisions in general, I've become more of a Jazz bass player in my old age. Specifically ones with EMGs as they suit my playing style more. Normally my for sale ads go into great detail regarding the sounds, how they feel and so on but I am genuinely sad to have to sell this bass so it's facts only. Perhaps the most important fact to a lot of people will be the weight - the bass come in at 8lbs exactly using the standing on the scales with bass then without method. This is 3.62874kgs in new money. I'm looking for around £850 or best offer. Postage to mainland UK will be around £35 Any questions, please fire away - plays like buttah etc 😆

I bought this for a project but ended up not using it so it's up for sale in as-new and unused condition. This is a 3 band EQ control for EMG active pickups and features 2 dual concentric pots - Bass and treble on one and midrange with mid frequency control on the other. Also included is the unopened quick connect cables including jack etc. Looking for £100 posted to mainland UK

What are your views on the vinyl s(pl)urge?
Delberthot replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
When I was buying vinyl around the late 80s I found that the quality had already begun to diminish where what was for sale was cheap wobbly plastic. This was compared to the old 60s and 70s vinyl I inherited from family members who no longer listened to records. Most of what I have been buying has been on at least 180gsm vinyl so it's super thick. Once you squeezed too many tracks onto one side of a record the quality diminished as well as the grooves couldn't be deep enough so there wasn't as much bass as there should have been. Again, some recent reissues have been spread over two discs rather than the original one. A lot of the reissues are also remasters so they're not just the same as what you'd buy on a CD. Having said that there are releases that sound terrible and that haven't had anything done to them to make them sound decent. One of my favourite Genesis albums is Duke so I bought that on vinyl - it's completely bereft of the fantastic grinding bass on Behind the Lines that is on the CD and MP3 releases. Conversely Mother's Milk by the Chilis is incredible. The first time I listened to it I could hear a lot more on the vinyl than I could on the CD and the quality is superb. Same with Fragile by Yes. Personally, I listen to MP3s about 80% of the time. I might stick on a CD once or twice a month. Vinyl is more about the experience than anything else. I love to make myself a big pot of coffee and just sit and chill listening to an album. I find it very therapeutic -
As far as I remember the first one would be CTS 250k Solid Shaft made in June 2020 (week 25) but that doesn't answer whether they are audio or linear
