1. It's looking like the end of February by which time it will be long gone I'm afraid. I have a few interested parties for both amps and one of the cabs but nothing cast in concrete yet so they are all still available for now
2. Normally we do as well and they dance right in front of me, occasionally dancing right in front of me ie on the stage but it just wasn't happening last night Ah well, Binkies on Thursday and then the Duchess in Kirkcaldy on Friday
3. Cool. It was a funny crowd last night, I wasn't feeling the love. Bit of a sausage fest as well - a distinct lack of honeys compared to normal Finnegans gigs. I've put my backup Ashdown MAG400 and the 4x10" on Egay. I've just looked at my Ebay seller dashboard and I've sold £36750 worth of bass gear since 2003 That's frightening
4. One of my favourites of theirs as well along with Sgt Baker, My Name is Mud & Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
5. Exactly what I am looking for but I doubt this will be around when my gear sells. really want to try one of these
6.
The 15" is a great standalone cab or as a monitor but there's more bottom end from the 4x10" so that's why I decided to do it that way.
7. That's my all time favourite colour on a Musicman. I've only ever seen a handful in that colour.
8. This is along the lines of what I am looking for to replace my Laney cabs when I sell them and I'm only a couple of hours away
9. It's hard to tell but the speakon sockets look green to me in which case they are combi speakons that also take 1/4" jacks
10. Yeah, interested in the weight. I'm a sucker for old school 2x15" cabs
11. More pics as promised Covers on Covers off
12. I went down the lightweight route back when the Genz Shuttle first came out and tried a few others but preferred the big heavy sound so that's why I went for the rig that I have at the moment The two Laney cabs that I have now have a combined weight of 48kgs and it wasn't that long ago that I carted around a Trace 2x15" that was 46kgs on its own. I still wanted light but big, hefty sound as well and that's what I have with this setup
13. I would recommend D'Addario Chrome Flatwounds. I play mainly fingerstyle but also slap and use a plectrum occasionally. the thing is that they don't sound like traditional flats. I see them more as the sound of rounds that have had the zing removed and are more controllable under the fingers than rounds.
14. I've decided that after tonight's gig I'd like a complete change so I have decided to offer my NX115 cab as well. The cab is 400w @ 8ohms is in the same condition as the other two items. I am going to offer this as a complete stack with the Laney NX410, NX115 & Hartke LH1000 for £800 obo collected or meet up etc. The retail on these is around £1440 including the cost for the rack and the covers. It's also available with just the NX410 and LH1000 for £600 obo collect etc. If both cabs sell at the same time I will need a couple of days to get myself another one I only have a couple of camera pictures but I'll get more up over the weekend. And before anyone says anything, yes the 15" cab is on the top because I like the sound of it that way
15. Absolutely. I've always hated ragged, worn stuff. I like to keep my gear in tip top condition. I'd have covers for the covers if that was a possibility I understand that this is as bad a time for coming up with cash for stuff so I am open to trades. I don't need the money and I'm not desperate to sell so will let this tick along until someone offers me either a trade or some cash. I gig regularly in the Edinburgh and Fife areas so a meet up or drop off would be possible
16. I've decided that I simply don't need as much gear as this as most of the gigs we do are pubs with PA provided so i am selling my amp and one of my cabs. Hartke LH1000 The amp needs no introduction, it's the rock solid Hartke LH1000. It can go from 225w a side at 8 ohms up to 1100w at 4ohms in bridged mode. The controls are simple with a preamp volume then tone controls with bass mid and treble. there's a limiter and a bright function although I've never had the need to use either. One great thing about it having 2 separate power amps is that you could actually run different cabs to each side in dual mono mode. Eg you could have 2 4ohm cabs connected on one side and a single 8 ohm cab on the other. It has a balance knob so you can adjust the output to each side. I changed the original valve so it now I think has a JJ Tesla ECC803 and it comes in a Gator shallow rack which is a perfect size for the amp. The official specs are:

Dual Parallel mode offers 2 x 225 watts at 8 ohms, 2 x 320 watts at 4 ohms, 2 x 545 watts at 2 ohms
Bridge mode offers 750 watts at 8 ohms, 1,100 watts at 4 ohms
Classic 12AX7 Class A tube preamp circuit
Bass and Treble shelving, Mid-peak EQ controls
Selectable Brite and Limiter switch with LED indicator
Balance control blends level of A and B outputs
Front panel balanced XLR direct output
Rear panel 1/4" Effects loop
1/4" and Speakon™ output connectors
2-rackspace metal chassis with steel faceplate and handles
Laney NX410 This cab has been with me for 2 or 3 years now and is fantastic. It's rated 800w @ 8ohms and is very light for a 4x10" due to marine grade ply construction and Celestion neo speakers. It has speakon/jack combi sockets (in & out) and on/off & full/half switches for the horn. This cab has been kept in a Roqsolid cover since day 1 and even the cover looks brand new. It is fitted with wheels and the only marks I can find are on the underside, presumably when loading in and out of the car Here's a link to a review of this cab I did last year Again, the official specs are: Cabinet Design Marine Grade plywood cabinet with large grip handles, and kick proof metal grille Drivers 4x 10" Custom Celestion Neodymium Frequency Response 50Hz to 15KHz Impedance 8 ohms Inputs 2x Speakon/Jack combi socket Kick Proof Metal Grill Yes Ports Front Power 800 Watts (8 ohms) Sensitivity 100dB @ 1 watt / 1 metre Weight 27.5 Kg Unit Dims - for int. case (HxWxD mm) 643 x 643 x 403 Like all of my gear, both items have been very well looked after, never kept in the car overnight and always in the house when not being used. In fact the rack still has the Gator tag on the handle. I am looking for £330 for the Hartke including the Gator rack and £320 for the Laney cab or nearest offers. Posting isn't a problem if you’re too far away to collect. I would just need to get a hold of some cardboard. The combination of Hartke and Laney is phenomenal together so I may be able to do you a deal if buying both together. I would also be happy to meet up within reason For payment I would be looking for cash on collection or bank transfer if posting. As for trades, I’m not really looking for anything at the moment although I am a Barefaced virgin so to speak so may be interested in one of those. Any trades would need to involve cash my way unless you want to do a straight swap with the amp and cab for a US Musicman Stingray or Sterling as this will be on my list next year as I get near my 40[sup]th[/sup] birthday. Any questions, just fire away. And now, lots of pics
17. Rog used to be with it, then they changed what "it" was. Now he hasn't got a clue what "it" is but it's wrong and not as good as it used to be A bit of a derailment but I was watching an episode of TotP from the 60s or something and during it I was thinking that most of the bands on it wouldn't have made it today as there were some right old tar boilers and everyone has to be beautiful now.
18. Tried many different amps but I was mainly a Gallien Krueger user for the best part of 20 years, initially as a Flea fan (had an 800RB) then I realised that they did actually sound very good. Couple of years ago decided that my 1001RB II wasn't giving me what i wanted so sold it and bought an LH1000 (via a very brief spell with an Ampeg PF500 which cut out on me at a gig) Really heavy, lives in a 2u shallow case, been all over the country and gives me the sound I want without a lot of controls that it doesn't need IMHO
19.
I regularly play through an Ampeg 4x10 and it's fantastic. I've owned Ashdown ABM cabs before but they don't compare very well with the Ampeg.
My opinion is the opposite. The ampeg cabs I've used either have thick indistinct rumble and/or clicky tweeter. The best ashdowns I've used were the mag410s. Used two of them against 2 very loud guitarists and they were fantastic. It was the two I traded with Conan ages ago. The 37kg weight of each one eventually did my box in.
20. If you're going to get a laney get the NX series one. I've not been on here for a long time as I'm very happy with my setup and completely gas free for the first time in a long time Hartke LH1000 and laney NX115 & NX410
21. If I'm on my own and feeling self indulgent I can happily listen to every queen album from queen to the miracle start to finish. I think I have actually listened to fragile by yes every week for about the last ten years Blood sugar sex magik by the chilis, primus sailing the seas of cheese, faith no more the real thing are my favourites
22.
Seriously only 1 mention for J.J .....Bear Cage ..Peaches .. No More Heroes x
My own personal favourite is the intro to hanging around. Sounds more like a dirty chain saw than a bass
23. Did ye call wor pint a lass?
