1. Alternatively get a 12 string bass
2.
2:48 if you've seen t before, watch the whole thing if you haven't
Ha, exactly what I had in my head The worst bass for me has to be the Epiphone EB-3. Not only did I have to join 2 straps together for it to sit right but after an extra long gig my back was completely knackered and it took a couple of weeks to return to normal. I partially agree about the Ricks though but i think it's more down to the shape. I reckon if I could get one to sit right then that would be half the battle. The pickup cover for the long gone horseshoe pickup is a pain but there are a few companies making bezels so you can remove the cover and avoid losing half the skin on your fingers as they rub against the metal surround.
3. My one size fits all approach Yes the 15" should be on top as all the thick lush bass comes from the 4x10" contrary to what we are led to believe
4. Between a few of us on here we have had nearly every Trace cab ever made. Probably Thornybank has had a few more than I have but I've had a load of variants of 2x10"s, 4x10"s, 15"s, 2x15"s, 4x12"s etc. The old cabs were the baws with the exception of the 1524 which was quite farty at high volumes. The 1248 & 1528 V-type cabs were monsterous but 44kgs a piece. I did move onto Ashdown but the eventual weight put me off in the end. My 4x10" & 1x15" only come in at 49kgs for the pair of them but I've lost 28kgs in weight this year so the 4x10" effectively weighs nothing
5. I've just gone from Roto 45s to Roto flats 40s and they feel pretty similar and definitely more funky in a Bernard Edwards kind of way. Makes me want to play Everybody Dance
6. Personally I think that this is a kind of marketing thingy rather than a serious attempt at something new. Covered bases have been around for a while now from the blue flower Teles, the mirrors that Syd Barrett put on his Strat, I've seen basses with faux cow skin on them plus tommorichards own denim bass and I've just sold my own Star Wars bass At the time of writing over 650 people have either contributed or read this thread (no pun intended) so it's got a whole bunch of people talking about Sandberg and if some of them tell their friends, some look at the website and a few place an order then they're done their job
7. I'm already on it. currently second in line.
8. Eh? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2pBF0nwh4E

10. I've built two, both were '54 precision shapes but completely different basses. The first one was gold and sparkly - loads of pics and info here The second one was designed to copy the last of the single coils - more pics here It's my 40th birthday next year and I'm seriously contemplating another one like the second one
11. I've been eyeing this up on Ebay for a while now It's only about £130 delivered
12.
I wonder if your OP will end up in the Basschat quotes thread in a few weeks when you decide you really prefer your P?? It seems that many try something different, like it for a short time and revert to their tried and tested P Bass (not me, I hate Fenders and love active basses).
My Precision is both Going back to the OP - I've had Hartke LH amps before and had a Laney NX115 before but not at the same time and not while I had this bass and I was never 100% happy when I had either. The combination of the Laney cabs, the Precision and the Hartke amp are perfect for me. Thing is as well that I don't think my Precision, despite having EMGs and a 2 band EQ, sounds active at all.
13. I will not buy this record, it is scratched
14. If it's an 8ohm cab then it's most likely the 1153 which is the same size as the 2x10". the 1518 was the same size as the 1048 Great cabs, had a few of them before
15. Saw them tonight supporting the Quo. The bass sounded great out front. The singer has a bit of David Coverdale in his voice. I thought they were a good band overall.
16. I'm just waiting for the last of the bits to arrive so will attempt it this weekend. I went with the 250k volume and 500k tone pots and I still have a big bag of paper in oil caps so I'm using them. I'm not wiring in the third cap and the push/pull pot as I prefer the sound with it out of the equation. I'll post my results at the weekend.
17. I think there are a few coming back this year - the Rhapsody 12ver is also coming back
18. I'm Roasting a chicken and some veg, big salad, red wine, good music on. Glad to have a weekend off
19. I saw that one but it looks different to the pictures I've seen. I'm sure it's right though. I've studied various pictures and this is what I have so far I just need to work out the ROS wiring for the jacks
20. Cool - the link I have found is here but I won't be using the 0047 capacitor ( C3 on the schematic )
21. OK I've managed to find the search function on the Rickresource but all links either point to the Rick Schematic or pages that don't exist anymore. Think I may have to find a really clear picture and make a drawing from it
22. I've recently picked up a faker with dodgy wiring and am trying to find a Rick wiring diagram. I've found the schematic on the Rick website but I can't read schematics. Apparently the diagram on the Seymour Duncan website is different to the actual Rick wiring. The Rickresource has threads asking about this with a response of "This has been asked before, check previous threads" but there ain't no search function that I can find. I'm not looking to do the vintage wiring with the pull pot that is on the current model. I've been everywhere I can think of but can't find a readable diagram anywhere. I have all the parts on order but no wiring diagram - can anyone help?
23. I use a neoprene strap and my bass sits almost at a 45 degree angle so everything is straight Not a very good pic but it gives you the idea
24. Yeah - as has been said before try as many as you can I had almost given up on them until I read an interview with Chris Squire where he said he used Herco Heavies ( Apparently Jimmy Page uses them as well ) tried them and they are the dogs sloblock for me. bought a pile of them. really grippy and just the right level of bendiness for me
