1. I recently got this in a trade but after a couple of gigs I've come to the conclusion that I prefer the straight tone of my bass and can't be bothered spending the time to get this pedal to sound the way I want it to. it really is a fantastic pedal, the solid construction makes Boss pedals look like they're made of plastic. There are a lot of great tones in this pedal from subtle overdrive to a nice distortion but I think I'll just stick with my pedal tuner and Boss EQ pedal. There are a couple of scratches on the front edge of the pedal but you can't see them when they're on your board and there is some heavy duty velcro fitted to the underside. The pedal comes in its original box and the price includes postage within mainland UK some details from the website: The AGRO[sup]®[/sup] is based on the saturation channel of Aguilar's celebrated AG 500 bass head. Capable of producing everything from warm, tube-like overdrive to full on distortion, this pedal will give you the grind you need without sucking out your low end. The AGRO[sup]®[/sup] offers a wealth of overdriven sounds within an easy to use, 4-knob layout. The Saturation control offers a tremendous range of distortion while the Contour control allows you to dial in a scooped or a more aggressive boosted midrange sound. The Presence knob adds the right amount of 'attack' ensuring that your bass remains defined even with the most saturated settings. The output level control guarantees that you'll be able to get the distortion you want at any volume level. Separate Saturation and output level controls Contour control: broad spectrum mid scoop centered around 900Hz Presence control: + 6dB/-20dB >4kHz Gig-saver bypass (signal passes even if your battery dies) Power: Nine-volt battery or optional universal power supply Heavy Duty steel construction Inputs: One 1/4" jack Outputs: One 1/4" jack Controls: Engage switch Warranty: Three year limited Optional: 9 volt power supply
2. I had a particularly loud Marquee last weekend and I had to crank it for the entire night. two songs from the end, the magic light came on and cut the signal for maybe 30 seconds but that was enough for me I sold it and replaced with a lovely big loud and heavy Hartke LH1000. Clear as a bell nearly wet myself when I heard how loud, clear and punchy it was
3. There's something that I need to understand None of my basses have ever suffered from this and no one else's that I know either. So what is bucklerash and why does it happen? When wearing a shirt tucked in I make sure that it is loose enough that the buckle on my belt doesn't make contact with my bass. Why do basses appear with big chips in them? Are people really that clumsy/unlucky/neanderthal/candygram for Mongo? I don't always put my bass away first but after 15 months my Precision still looks exactly the same as when I left the shop with it. No dinks, scratches, chunks of paint missing, holes, etc I'm not having a go at anyone but are some people more accident prone than others or something?
4. Man, you need to stop doing this to me - these Jazzes with the blocks are tempting me to get out the credit card Funny, I never cared much for block inlays before I got my Precision but now I love them
5. Maybe someone thought they were buying a rare prototype Fender made by Leo himself after several shandies and a blindfold on. And mittens
6. Alternatively you could do as I have done and have a pot that isn't wired to anything with a knob so it looks the same as the others
7. I absolutely love my Precision but like some others, the electronics failed. I was at a rehearsal when suddenly I had low output from the precision pickup. I could've taken it back to the shop and had it repaired under warranty but I wanted to experiment and it now has a set of EMGs and the BTC system. A set of D'adddario Chromes and a Hipshot D-tuner and I couldn't be happier Such a stunning bass and lovely to play
8.
This thread just confirmed to me that I just don't like tortoise shell pick guards...
So its not just me then?
9.
Through body bridges
Er
10. I'm sure Chris (Thornybank) has one or I think he did the last time I was over to see him
11. I'm giving serious consideration to getting a Barefaced cab so I need to hold onto this for now until I decide one way or the other
12. Thanks Merton One of the best sounds I had was with the 15" V-type combo and a Series V 1518 but it was a bit odd looking paired together due to the different sizes. I didn't speak to Alex about the 1528, just his own cabs - I've been recommended something like the Super 12 as it would handle gigs like the one I had in a big marquee at the weekend better but those are few and far between so he also recommended a Compact and a big amp to drive it if as I mainly play pubs and weddings.
13.
Trace Elliot gear kinda makes your bass sound like are playing it wearing mittens and a crash helmet. Rob
You're getting mixed up with Ashdown amps
14. I'm on the market for a new cab yet again. I've been speaking with Alex at Barefaced and have recommendations from him but I have other cabs in mind and I'm trying to narrow it down a bit. I'm ideally looking to only have one cab and I like the idea of this cab but am worried that because they say it has been tuned to 32Hz that they've sacrificed the top end to do this and I'm going end up having to buy a 2x10 or something to go on top. I like the idea of the tilt back castors and that that it comes with a cover so that'll be £50+ I don't need to spend on a cover and £20 on wheels. When I sell my Ampeg I plan on buying a Hartke LH1000 (well that's today's plan, it could very easily change tomorrow ) I haven't heard many people talk about the newer Trace stuff so am typing this hoping that there may be some on the forum who have them and have just been keeping quiet. I play in a rock band that does weddings as well and I don't go through the PA so I need something loud enough for bigger venues as well. The Ampeg & Laney combination that I use just now does that but its not exactly the sound I'm after. Its this model here:
15. The 4052H is on hold for two weeks. That means I have only the Ampeg and the Laney left
16. I'm having yet another change of gear. I only bought this amp two months ago and its done maybe 5 or 6 gigs. This sounds absolutely amazing through my Laney NX410. The cab that I'm selling on another thread sounds pretty old school but still clear as a bell and this amp compliments it nicely giving you the Ampeg tone without the Ampeg weight. Last night it did a pretty good job of filling this venue: This was without PA support and given that the amp only puts out 300w at 8ohms then it gives you an idea exactly how pokey this amp and cab combo are. I have been transporting this amp in a laptop bag and this is included in the sale along with a power lead I'm looking for £300 delivered mainland UK for the Ampeg or I can do the amp and cab for £570 delivered which will also include a really heavy duty speaker cable speaker cable. As far as trades go I'm looking for something like a Terror Bass 1000 or Hartke LH1000 And I think they really look good together: more pics and details of the cab can be found here
17. I actually may be tempted to do a deal with the Laney cab and my 2 month old Ampeg PF-500 The amp is minty fresh and comes in a laptop bag. They go very well together. More details here
18. I've been asked to quote for one of the cabs so I've gone and got quotes for all three. The Ashdown & Laney would be £26 and £12 for the Trace to mainland UK.
19. Apologies for the blurry pics - I'm using my wife's phone as I can't find the charger for mine
20. Lastly is the Trace 4052H bright box
21. Next is the Laney. This is in really, really good condition. Those are speakon / jack combi sockets there Roqsolid cover in minty condition
22. More pics as promised - Ashdown first I had forgotten about the tear in the vinyl at the back. I could glue it but I very rarely look around the back of my cabs unless I'm connecting or disconnecting speaker cables so it hasn't bothered me.
